It seems every day we get positive news from the club, Stadium expansion will be fantastic and Toon TV did a nice interview with the guy who owns the buildings who said he would sell them to NUFC. It’s great we have this almost daily communication from the club now.
if you're talking about leazes terrace.. I'm not sure it matters who owns them... they're listed.. they can't be touched.. and really.. we wouldn't want them to be..
@ontheslide2339 he's on about St James' Terrace, which is infinitely more problematic in its location than Leazes Terrace for expansion of the East stand, however SJT is grade 2 listed unlike LT which is grade 1 listed and a deal is far more likely to be reached with the council on those properties.
Rob .I remember when I first went to St James Park in 1966 I was 5 with my older brothers and cousins and my brother's turn around and said this is your real home now son never forget this moment..And certainly have never forgot those words the holy land the promised land Howay the lads.Seen the ground change over the years Just hope we can extend east stand my late brother's would be so proud. Rob keep doing your videos son great to watch 😊
What a Belta.🫡🏴🏳️🏴🏳️ I started gannin in the 80s but I was there in the 90s for the entertainers.aye NUFC has grown a little bit hasn't it 😉 I love our club 🏴🏳️🏴🏳️🏴🏳️🏴🏳️🏴🏳️Geordie Boot Boys 🏴🏳️🏴🏳️🏴. 🤝🐜
We need a stadium that holds at least 75,000 this club is going to an unimaginable place, and it's very hard to get our heads around it,the pace at which its progressing is just the stuff of dreams...
It’s an impressive stadium and looks a lot bigger than many stadiums with higher capacity such as Anfield. I guess there is more legroom and space between seats? When were the newer stands built? In terms of the East expansion, that looks very unlikely. They definitely won’t knock down those Georgian houses, listed buildings. So how that is the easiest option? There isn’t enough space to expand, unless they effectively rebuild a more efficient stand entirely
I remember your video shortly after the takeover saying how buying the Gallowgate land back was vital for NUFCs future prospects. Seems our hopes and dreams are going to come true bud. If this gets passed I can see us extending both stands eventually and lifting the capacity to around 75,000. great time to be a Newcastle fan.
I don’t want to be a downer, but the the east stand is a no go and can’t be made any bigger and if anything would be made smaller as the leg room would need to be increased in the a new stand……….Whilst the M30 under the Vicente Calderón Stadium was built at the same time as the stadium, the Gallowgate end would have to build over an open station and road, which would be very expensive and probably not worth the money.
One stadium they could look at if they wanted to expand the end stand is Ajax stadium. The stadium is actually built on top of a motorway. If they can do that then it might be possible to do something on the end stand. Ajax stadium gas a full motorway underneath it with roads underneath all 4 stands.
I have made this comment on other shows. You need more seats to be able to keep the ticket prices down for games. If you keep it as is you will have constant price increases to be able to keep players to rival Man City. They want a winner and fans want to afford to see it. Expansion has to happen for both to be a reality.
Gonna be interesting to see how they figure this puzzle out. Maybe pull the whole stadium to the left (if your looking at the Gallowgate from where the fanzines going) and build up the Gallowgate and east stand?
Would love to see both side expanded, with a full digital screen covering the full of the gallowgate end facing the road like the Saudi Shopping centre in Ryhad
Its just exciting to even be talking about expansion!!❤. I thought 8th place would be an excellent outcome after survival last season, before. We upset the applecart finishing in 4th. I feel we're ahead of schedule, and that says a lot about the work Eddy and Co have done!! We can actually start looking forward to an exciting future ❤
old father Christmas said he was looking at expansion but they dint fill what they had .[really cashley saw the 40mil bill for the work] dint have players to build more euro runs..to pay the freight so listed the team .back in 08.. so much has improved. you would almost have to relocated home matches for a year and do almost a golf course terrace to avoid plying at boro for a year. or ibrox..for euros or get a world cup match
I say the owners should just go out and acquire a huge plot of land and build a mega stadium, training centre and fan zones all close to each other now that would be amazing. To extend the current stadium is too much hassle and will take time with feasibility studies, planning permission, settling the fees to pay off the current owners of the grade 1&2 buildings and so much more. A mega aesthetically pleasing stadium like Real Madrid’s would be ideal for NUFC
Hope not I lived in Newcastle years ago and it’s a very unique stadium that is within its city centre and I’d hate to see it move to some old industrial estate on the outskirts of nowhere.
St James Park should be demolished and rebuilt into a brand new one on the same site like the Tottenham Stadium. This piecemeal expansion won't do any good. There needs to be a grand plan with huge capacity and state-of-the-art facilities. Just play at Sunderland for a year or two to get a New-castle!
That terrace is beautiful. Can't they build a new stand and clad it to echo that honey-coloured sandstone? A space could be created that would look like a Georgian street on non-match days. It wouldn't be cheap, but then money isn't a problem at Newcastle.
Great vid Rob, but, having lived in the Toon for ten years, I can honestly say it never gets hot up there. My 2 step daughters are always complaining it is too hot as soon as the snow starts melting! That is why you all jet off to the med for real sunshine ha ha. As for the East stand, yeah, why not, it seems like a good idea
So when they build a fan zone, it's full on match days, then come kick off time those with tickets go to the match and those without do what? If the ground can't be extended, they should build a new one.
I was bought up in London. I would rather live In Newcastle than stay in London. London is not the place it was! No community, too much crime etc. Somebody got stabbed to death 💀 outside my work in Broad daylight a few days ago ffs!
Rob I don't people realise how big its going to be especially with sela st James will all lite up fireworks lasers etc we'll also build a hotel its going to be great toonali toonali 👊👊🍻
Could they build an inflatable stand? I'm sure today's fabric technology is up to the job. The stand could be inflated a couple of hours before the game and deflated once the fans have left. This means the nice buildings across the road wouldn't be damaged and they'd only be covered up for a few hours every alternate weekend. Failing that couldn't the stand be made out of bricks similar to Lego? They could build the stand before every game and dismantle it afterwards. I'm sure engineers could design and manufacture a full-size Lego style brick.
Villa fan coming in peace ,we have the same issue with light with our witton lane stand the proper name for the away end stand ,so it will be interesting to see how st james evolves ,oh and fuck the sky 6 ,go well in the champions league
We built up the whole ground (East Stand aside) with the only disruption being a slightly reduced Gallowgate End for half a season. Then an extension with the only disruption being no roof for a year. They'll surely manage something now.
Newcastle are apparently asking the FA for a name change. To the Newcastle and Saudi Arabian English Xl. At least if they win some silverware it’ll not be solely down to foreigners money. Fan owned clubs are ALWAYS better.
Not Geordies but I honestly think they need a stadium with a capacity of minimum of 75,000 All the big clubs seem to go for 60,000 which I think is wrong they should look at minimum of 70,000
This whole rebuild/extension is gonna take donkeys.itl be worth it though. In the meantime I can't wait for a new fanzone.i can't go into st james'park to watch so it's pubs bars n hooses so I like to get to fanzones for a good auld frisk it's mint usually.ive had mint times in them.anyway it's all exciting stuff reet noo innit.where off season but you lot with the good channels are keeping us all in the know.🏴🏳️ TheToonReview ⭐ TheMagpieChannel ⭐ AdamP⭐ Tyneside life⭐ TheTrueFaith couple and roobenstein are aal champion.theres one more aswel I've forgotten the name reet noo but there's loads of clout chasing channels we've gotto be careful who we listen to .anyway cheers for the update mate✌️ 🏴🏳️🐜
Can imagine the Gallowgate will be a massive job, but in the end will be immense and may see away fans in there at some point Away fans could get on a train/plane at there end and wouldnt have to go outside until they get to the stadium Add around 15 stories of space underneath the stand down to the metro line you could fill with bars, 3-4 story store, various resteraunts etc.
Expanding will most likely never happen as the proposed fan zone is a 3 year contract behind the Gallowgate . A fan appeasement only. No chance of the east stand ever being done, and as a toon fan I hope not. Demolishing a lovely Georgian terrace. The town Moor the only feasible option. The council would want millions for the land, plus a match day dividend. Not happening ever.
I gave my season ticket up in the Gallowgate after a divorce an being able to have my daughters at weekends, thought when they got older I'd get a new season ticket, right in the middle of the Ashley mess I'd just get a few match tickets, now it's basically impossible to get in, yeah I'm gutted but God knows what it's like for the ones that gave up theirs in protest an Ashley gave away 10k free tickets just to get fans in the stadium
You have listed all the reason why it won't happen. The listed buildings, the sunlight requirement and the Road. Impossible to have that stand existed.
Just shows how far Cashley took the club backwards with 15 year's of hurt. With half a brain, the moron could've had a lot of the expansion done before now. It's great to see so many positive now as a fan, but the ground expansion is probably a 3 to 5 year project for both the East Stand and Gallowgate. All in good time and plenty of football to enjoy in the meantime. Onwards and upwards and HWTL.
To me we should move the stadium up into Leazes Park and create a green area of park where stadium is now to keep the Greenies happy. 80,000 + capacity but I doubt they'll do that.
Why is everyone over complicating this expansion, why don’t we do what spurs done! Build a new stadium directly behind in Leazes park. Build 3 of the 4 stands, the pitch and move into it. Then build the 4th stand which would be over the current Leazes stand. Then knock down remainder of old stadium, convert into shops/ bars etc and a massive home/ away fanzone area!
It’s the most important structure in the whole town, it would seem obvious to do away with the listed status on the row of houses and compulsory purchase for the benefit of everyone in the town since the whole town loves NUFC.
Build a new stadium to go with the needs of the club. If we think small, we stay small. I am a proper geordie born and breed, and I can't get in .and before I get the well, we have gone for 15 years, though the bad times .try watching in the late 70/80 it was way worse than under Ashley..I would love to stay at St James but its just not fit for purpose
Let’s face it, Newcastle have historically always been shi*e . Huge local support dying for success but the closest they got to success was the Keegan era. Iam sure despite all the talk of Newcastle selling their soul and making a pact with the devil their fans will seriously buzz off the ride that has only just begun, i for one don’t begrudge their supporters the fun they will have shaking up the usual tier of big clubs.
There is alot of fans that pay alot of money to travel over for weekends to watch matches and have done it through all the bad years of Ashley, different with the newcastle fans that travel to matches is that they as passionate as Geordies and not glory hunters like man utd.i have been traveling to matches from Ireland through all the years and championship games when relegated. Impossible to get ticket now. Last few games I've gone to , i have had to get hospitality so could go and costs alot of money to do that. Hope extension and personally love at James park, wouldn't like to see new stadium
I spoke to Amanda Staveley & told her, last season exactly how the East Stand can be extended, she, naturally, was very, very interested . I also told her there's already a precident in the city that enhances & doesn't detract from the beautiful buildings opposite! I didn't realise at the time but my friend took photos of my discussion with her. As she has my name & phone number, I'd hope that someone will get in touch if it's my idea !
I think Newcastle United over achieved last season, and this season will be not be what they will be expecting ,I will be surprised if they get out of the group stage , and squad is not experienced enough . but good luck to them , this season.
