Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003 Complete Series) - Caravan of Garbage

One of the earliest depictions on screen of the Clone Wars was ended up being the 2003 Tartakovsky 2D animated series. Featuring the likes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Mace Windu, Yoda, Dooku, General Grevious and Palpatine alone with lesser known characters like Durge, Ki-Adi-Mundi and Kit Fisto it shows us the side of the war we barely got to see in cinemas. This compilation Caravan Of Garbage video combines both series leading right into the events of Revenge Of The Sith before the 2008 3D animated series rendered it Star Wars Legends. Thanks for watching and see you back in Feburary for new episodes!

The idea behind Grievous for Tartakovsky was that he was such a genius at playing mind games and so aggressive during combat that Jedi wouldn't have much time to think while fighting and I absolutely loved it. When he makes the mistake of getting cocky against Windu who isn't so easily intimidated it bites him in the ass.
@mike-mz6yz

is that really from tartakovsky though? I have seen the behind the scenes of George creating Grievous so I assumed all of that came from him.
@DreamStepper

@user-mo6yl6jr5l there's one episode in this series that actually shows Dooku training Grievous, and that sort of full on aggression and fear tactics is what Dooku teaches Grievous.
@romulusnuma116
@romulusnuma116 Год назад
@@DreamStepper According to Tartakovsky Lucas was kinda confused on if Grievous was an effective killing machine or a mustache twirling villain who constantly had to run after being beaten so the part where we see Dooku training him was meant to justify how he could be both and the part with Windu cruses his chest was because after they were mostly done they were told he had a cough in the movies and to show how he got it.

The Italian aliens section was oddly deep. The men went to war, war made them into monsters. When they returned home, the women feared them now, and the men were ashamed, but the women loved them anyways. Not only is that a metaphor for real life veterans, but it also parallels Anakin and Padme as he gradually becomes worse and worse and she doesn't know what to do.

For further iteration on this Grievous (one of my favorite characters), the droids, Mace Windu and the fucking clones get so much development in this! Imagine that! These were released originally back in the day on Cartoon Network and were shorts. They are 3-15 mins long each and aired as quick star wars bites. It blew my fucking mind; beautiful, cool, minimal words and visual story telling. Even Roron Corobb has some god tier cool shit and makes you feel the Star Wars universe is broad and diverse! I was expecting something like this with Book of Boba Fett but we just got more of the dulled down writing to fit neatly into The Mandalorian? Star Wars isn't compact or neat, it's a messy ass story about a fucking force family across like 4 generations and how they're getting by in this cracked ass galaxy lol. There are seedy ecumenopolis levels, drugs a plenty and millennia old slave traditions in whole segments of space. I'd prefer a thousand more Star Wars tales like 03' clone wars but I believe the droids' been fried on this one...also the Jedi are completely at fault and are directly the caus of the galactic downfall. They had plenty of signals, warnings and shit happen but were too inflexible and traditional to do any real good...heh...

Jango not being Mandalorian was a line given in The Clone Wars animated series by a character that despised him. It was meant as an insult and was that character's opinion.
@thewarner2139
@thewarner2139 Год назад
Except after that, it was outright stated by Lucasfilm that it was George's decision to not make him a mando, and numerous canon reference guides also stated Jango had no affiliation with them. Yo, was the absolutely perfect timing of "Red guy... two blue guys... you've got generic guys," just a fortuitous accident, or was there some particularly clever editing in that section? Because the thing about that scene was, with the colours of course representing ranks and/or squadrons that the clone troopers hailed from, an early draft had all the "generic" guys being from the blue squadron, meaning they were supposed to be highly trained special forces, and their decimation would demonstrate the seemingly insurmountable strength of the enemy. They were later demoted, as it were, to protect the continuity of later episodes where the droid army needed to be considered less competent. Interestingly though, that first draft of the scene, where the special forces were mown down with extreme prejudice, had the working title of "Blue Harvest", which was actually the same working title that was used as a recurring gag in Mr Sunday Movies' series of

12:15 So the lore explanation for every Jedi not doing what Mace did and crushing Grevious to bits is that he was taught to use tactics to break Jedi concentration, which makes it exponentially more difficult to use the force against him in a meaningful way. That’s why he’s only ever truly a menace when he has the clear upper hand from the beginning, whether that’s from fear, surprise, or letting his droids overwhelm his opponents first and then swooping in for the kill. That’s also why he retreats so much in the later Clone Wars series, because he recognizes often that he doesn’t have the upper hand and has to leave before the Jedi are able to really think and exploit his weaknesses.

I love how they're like "oh just crush him" when we have see in multiple clips they tried to. The irony of "just force crush him" with ki adi moondi likely responding "I'm trying too I just can't hit him. You gotta catch that horror movie monster off guard plus he was supposed to be seen as a monster less than an enemy. But yeah fair enough I don't think he ever was immune.

With all the Star Wars media out there; this is still one of my favorites. The OT, Andor, and maybe the first 2 seasons of Mando beat it out (haven’t seen the other animated SW stuff, sorry if that’s better), but that’s it. It’s concise, gorgeous to look at, adds to the mythos and lore, and is just plain fun.

While it's not officially canon, there's literally nothing stopping the entire first volume from being canon. Just have it all happen before the battle of Christopsis, and it would fit together perfectly. Heck, parts of it are already being recanonized with Mace Windu fighting on Dantooine and Grievous slaughtering Jedi and Republic forces on Hypori.

Tartakovsky's Clone Wars series _does_ fall in with Lucas's Clone Wars series. If you watch Tartakovsky's series first, up until when Anakin comes back to Padme and shows her his face scar, then stop and start watching Lucas's Clone Wars series, it falls in perfectly. Then, after watching Lucas's Clone Wars series up to the final episode of season 6, start watching Tartakovsky's Clone Wars series where you left off, and then back to Lucas's Clone Wars series, season 7. 🤯🤯🤯

This right here was super well done, and the introduction to general grievous was very chilling. He was way better in this show and I wish they would have went that direction with him. The action the show was so much more fast-paced and it was probably the best action I've ever seen in Star Wars. They all used their powers fittingly and didn't hold back. Star wars would be so much better if they did it like this all the time. The Jedi are like Samurai, and the animation is like Samurai Jack (cuz made by same guy, right?)!

They did the Clone Wars in "real time" between 2&3. They used different media to tell the story of the war as it lead up to Episode 3. The coolest thing was the WW2 Newspaper styled monthly updates in Star Wars Insider. One page of Republic headlines and another of CIS, just a cool way to tell the story of the war.

Fun fact about 3 of the OC jedi in this series: While the first volume was being produced there was an online vote to see which of three character designs would be featured in the last episode (of volume 1). The winner was the wolfman character (who also appears briefly in vol 2). The other two characters were the Ithorian and the Talz that escorted Palpatine and Shaak Ti out of the chancellors building in volume 2.

This series was amazing. Not sure which Clone Wars series I liked more. This one felt a little more real. The jedi were genuinely powerful forces of nature, the clones felt like well trained elite troopers, and the droid army felt like a near unstoppable wave of unfeeling machines. It had a clear beginning and end that led perfectly into the 3rd film.

the two hours or so runtime of this miniseries is fantastic stuff. i watched it without end when i was a kid, also designed (just the drawings) myself a clone trooper armor based on the look from the series, and even designed myself 2 lightsaber hilts (3D models) after that, because of it. my brother and i had done this yeaaaaars ago but we lost the sketches, so i did it again. kind of a bummer that certain parts of it weren't included 1:1 in the reboot series. even if i love asajj in the new series and am fine with her fate, she was batshit crazy in the miniseries and anakin killing her like he did would've been great stuff for season 5-7

I think the difference may be that to do a force move such as choke, crush and what not. You need to channel that power from within and requires more malice then say fighting with a lightsaber. I believe there was a difference in the KOTOR games between using the force to "crush" a driod vs using it on a living being.

This series was great because it was made by the legendary Genndy Tartakovsky of Samurai Jack & Primal fame. He's brilliant in animation because he does so much with so little. This series works more as an idyllic version of Star Wars in a way all fanfiction writers wish they were capable of. It's a standalone animated series that isn't really meant to perfectly sync with canon. And I'm glad they gave Genndy that liberty because he had the talent to make it work. Hopefully one day, they'll hire him to do it again.

27:05 Mace Windu has an ability called "Shatterpoint." It allows him to spot critical weaknesses in virtual anything. Its what let him do all that fist fighting droids earlier in the series. Its also what he uses to hit Grievous. He immediately spots the weakness Grievous has, his lack of the force. He also can locate exactly WHERE to crush Grievous, how to crush it so it will break with minimal required force used, then used force crush to basically cripple Grievous. Its partially due to how calm he is too due to the form he uses, but thats only when he's fighting dark side users. Grievous wasnt a dark side user, so I'd bet on it being more shatterpoint than anything else
