Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith is considered by many to be the best of the Prequels. High praise, some may say. This is the one George Lucas promised to show the fall of the Republic/rise of the Empire, Anakin Skywalker's turns to the Dark Side, his fateful dual with Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafa, death of the Jedi through Order 66 and his final transformation into Darth Vader. Plus there's also a four armed lightsaber fight, a big iguana, death via broken heart, big flips and child murder. Thanks for coming along with us on these Caravan Of Garbage reviews!

As an actual Sabre fencer that scene is painful to watch. IF one fought like these Jedi in real life even with a light sabre vs light sabre they'd die pretty damn fast and deserve to. NEVER turn your back on a foe and never telegraph an attack UNLESS you are confident in the stupidity of your opponent and are feinting. Those suicidal moves seem to be standard fare for Jedis and Sith alike And finally never waste movement when wounding an opponent like you suggested is the best course of action Edit: not to mention that light sabres require no wind up at all. Power cuts are meaningless and a light cut/ thrust is just as effective as a heavy one. Why waste the energy. Light sabres imply finesse but you rarely see it in these "duels". This retrospective has made me realize how much they missed by not having more Anakin+Padme+Obiwan trio stuff. Obi-wan was replaced with Qui-gon for a lot of the first film, and was sent on a separate adventure for the second film, and then Padme got very little to do in the third film. Attack of the Clones and The Last Jedi both tried to replicate Empire Strikes Back by splitting the main characters up, but in both cases I think they were worse off for it.

@spaceghostcqc2137

Yeah this was a huge shortcoming (among many). Padme needed a character arc in the third film and a relationship with Obi-Wan of some sort. Honestly I think a love triangle would have been an interesting angle to take, even if it was just Anakin having misplaced jealousy over their friendship. Perhaps some actual Jedi machinations to try and keep Padme and Anakin from spending too much time together could show his resentment of the Jedi grow more organically?

I just watched the fight autopsy on anakin vs obi-wan yesterday by Shadiversity where he literally went frame by frame going through the saber techniques, and I will say that from that I noticed an important story beat with regards to the High Ground ending. While they are fighting on the lava droids, Anakin does the same exact flip over Obi-wan and you see Obi-wan take a swing and a miss at him, so when Obi-wan is on the High Ground he very likely is taunting Anakin into making the same exact move to pull off a quick victory royale. And I mean, this isn’t the only time Obi-wan has tricked his opponent into doing a predictable move. In star wars rebels, he defeats Maul who tried to pull the same finishing move on Qui-gon but on old Ben, who was expecting it.

I'm 100% convinced still, that Palpatine used the bond between Anakin and Padme to keep Vader alive using Padme's life force. That's why those scenes go in parallel, and that's why she's dying despite being completely healthy. "Lost her will to live", more like her life essence is being drained. And I'd say that's the life saving power Palpatine talked about. Using someone else's life force to keep another or yourself alive. And maybe if it has to be someone who's close to them? That's a pretty sinister Force power fitting for the Dark Side.

I've never heard this theory before but it makes sense & I really like it. Especially when you consider the force connection that Snoke creates between Rey & Kylo in the sequels. The idea that immortality exists for the Sith but there's a big catch is a lot more compelling than Palpatine's ''We'll figure it out together'' excuse being all there is to it. I don't think they were truly thinking along these lines when they wrote it but if they had we would've needed a scene hinting at it to steer people in the right direction.

Regarding the "there are heroes on both sides" comment, this is something else that's fleshed out on The Clone Wars. The Seperatist Alliance isn't an inherently evil organisation, it's being manipulated by the Sith into being so. Some world's join the Seperatists out of desperation (Rodia briefly joins because they have a food shortage and the Trade Federation offers supplies), some join out of distrust towards the Republic (the Japrael Sector), etc There's even an episode directly called "Heroes on Both Sides", Season 3 Episode 10, which has Padmé trying to find peace with the Seperatists whilst Ahsoka spends time with the people of the Confederacy

27:29 I like the idea that Anakin has some bad dialogue here because as a Jedi, he wasn’t taught any flirting skills whatsoever. But it doesn’t make sense for Padmé to also suck at it? She’s a politician with the social skills to do her job well? That scene would’ve really worked if they implied that she taught him how to flirt during the early Clone Wars, and that would’ve made the Zygerrian Slaver CW arc even cooler since it’d show off Ani’s flirtation development.

@knifeprty6219

Did you know .. ..hehe, the reason for the code name "blue harvest" was so that the production wouldn't get ripped off while on location and buying stuff. If they admitted it was Star Wars they would be paying double for stuff and all sorts of taxes would get created to screw as much money out of them as possible. Like in The Simpsons, when they shot the Fall Out Boy movie in Springfield haha the "leaving town tax".

I remember reading in a book (maybe the novelisation) that Obi Wan didn't mean to chop up Anakin like that. He went to guard against the flip, but mistimed it because Anakin was being so aggressive. He went to block and hit the elbow, then when he went to reset his stance the lightsaber went clean through his knees. It was an accident, not sure if Anakin could claim on it though because of the whole evil space wizard thing

17:47 the Jedi thought the Sith were extinct after a battle 1,000 years prior to the invasion of Naboo. The only survivor was Darth Bane, who created the Rule of Two in order that the Sith keep surpassing each other and getting stronger over the centuries, and that line of Sith and apprentices ended with Plagueis, Sidious, and Vader. Granted, Maul showed up on Tatooine and again on Naboo, so the Jedi knew that a Sith had come back.

@ElveeKaye
@ElveeKaye 2 года назад
Using Mace's ignominious death scene as a cliffhanger would have been rather puzzling, since it's hard to get emotionally invested in such a dull, unremarkable character with zero charisma. He was a complete waste of Samuel Jackson's talent, which is mainly screaming at people while punching them in the face. He doesn't do so well trying to act the part of the wise, calm, meditative Jedi Master. Mace's only claim to fame is having a purple lightsaber, which he swung around rather awkwardly before being yeeted out a window. Heh heh, Mace Window! I love it!

I've always thought the obi-won high ground moment is a reflection of his flip over maul, so he knows how to defend it (i like the idea he goaded him as he knows annakins pride is a weakness), which in turn is why Vader throws his saber when Luke has the high ground - like he has a flash back to what happened last time so just thinks, "screw this" and throws his saber instead to level the playing field Loved the coverage guys, has been great to revisit the prequels and thoroughly enjoyed the series 👏 👍
@OscarASevilla

It's actually in lore that anakin used to train against holo versions of Darth Maul growing up. He also knew the story of how obi wan beat Maul. Thus, in a moment of pride, Anakin wants to defeat Obi Wan in the same exact way, to humiliate him and show him how badass he is.. obi wan, knowing what he was thinking and going to try to do, fucks Anakin up. I like your in-universe reason for why Vader tosses his lightsaber against Luke.

What a stupid form of transportation, however he acquired it. This is a planet completely covered in cities, where would a creature that big even live? What does it eat? Who cleans up after it? Are there lizard stables somewhere? We see Obi-Wan driving a flying car, why didn't he use one of those? This is one of the dumbest scenes in the movie because it makes no sense in the overall context of where it's taking place.

The people who say they don't want politics in their science-fiction need to understand that politics exist in both science & fiction, and that sci-fi is merely a literary vehicle for allegory and societal / cultural deconstruction.
@razorfett147
@razorfett147 2 года назад
I think the problem most ppl had was not that the prequels had politics in them. It's that they had very poorly executed political intrigue. Political intrigue done right can elevate the story and take world building to the next level. Instead we got what felt like the kind of political theater that someone in junior high would write...very superficial and lightly sprinkled in despite how much of our understanding of the events at hand rely on it. It never properly interweaves with the central plot in a convincing or satisfying manner. It just shows up as window dressing from time to time to remind us that political stuff is happening I liken it to the paradigm where ppl constantly complain about too much CGI. Its not CGI that theyre really objecting to...but BAD CGI.

@directorforplastic7929 2 года назад
@@razorfett147 the closest thing the sequels get to touching politics (which isn’t even related to things like the government directly) is the Canto Byte stuff in TLJ with stuff about how the upper classes benefit from war and where that leaves the lower class, even though it primarily was just to serve Finn’s arc (and to have a hopeful ending shot)
@johnholden7825
@johnholden7825 2 года назад
The big caveat with well done examples of using allegory for politics or culture is that writers can't be too on-the-nose with it (which has been on the rise over the last decade or more). Writers showing that '___person/action___ is good' is great storytelling. *Telling* us that '___person/action___ is good' is weak sauce at best and grating at worst.
