To fill out Darth Vader's build, the Episode III costume includes a padded muscle suit. Featurette from the Star Wars Complete Saga Blu-ray release. Like my Facebook page: / mranderson00001collection
Too bad they went with the crappy old suit in Rogue One. I don't understand that choice, except for the purpose of continuity with the way it looks in A New Hope
God, Darth Vader's outfit is SO badass - I love the process that they went through to make it perfect in RotS, it looks SO much better than it did in the OT. Here's hoping they do the same for Rouge One!
@@jacklewis3087 If you look at Empire and Jedi, the chest armor is all one piece too. Check out the shot of Vader climbing up the throne room stairs to Luke.
kaleb prinze Well this is for continuity purposes, its shiny and new in ROTS because he has just gotten it, and hasn't gotten into any battles, then in rogue one its more damaged and ragged so in connects really well into a new hope where he has a dull, dusty suit
I'm glad these are on RU-vid for me to watch. I got both the Prequel and Original Trilogies on Blue Ray for Christmas, but they only came with commentaries for special features.
This was the best looking Vader we've seen in live action. It's a shame rogue one is going to be 'faithful' to the design in a new hope, because that was the worst he's looked...
@@gavink6937 He looked like the Empire lost its budget and couldn't afford to make him a suit with actual advanced tech. Unlike the one in RO, this looks state of the art.
I guess you would have to make different Darth Vader masks to fit the head of the actors wearing them. By saying that, if I'm correct, the masks that were worn by David Prowse, Sebastian Shaw, Hayden Christensen, and Spencer Wilding (Rogue One), are all different.
Basically they went on and on about how they "fixed" the helmet from the original trilogy and then said oh but George wants it as close to the original costume as possible. While I really enjoy this version of Vader, don't even pretend its remotely like the A New Hope costume. Part of the charm of the costumes (and props as well) is how they change slightly (or more than slightly) from movie to movie. However that being said the two suits Vader wears in Rogue One are fantastic. The first is a mix of all the OT costumes and the second suit in the final scene appears to be identical to the ANH costume.
Nope, there is the the one seen in the first scene with vader (talking with Krennic) that does not have the robe over his shoulders and then the costume seen at the end (from when Vader asks to have the boarding party prepared until he looks out at the Tantive IV) has the robe over his shoulders.
I think Vader looked great in III, just as good as in Empire, and despite the design being better here, it doesn't make much sense for his suit ti start being not symmetrical 20 years down the timeline, rogue one got the original vader look down
The suit did not stay the same for 20 years, it got damaged in battle (just look in Rebels the fight with Ashoka where the helmet got damaged) so Vader changed it from time to time.
I completely disagree actually. If you look at the mask in rogue one, it looks completely different than the mask in A New Hope which doesn’t really make sense because the movies take place right on top of each other . The mask in rogue one looks more like the mask in Empire Strikes Back however with different color lenses, they’re red in rogue one while in empire and the rest of Star Wars, the lenses are black .
According to lore , the suit was designed to keep anakin alive but constantly in pain and uncomfortable thats why mask had red lighting in side. That way the character of darth vadar is always angry and stick to dark side
The original mask from ANH is the best. Who cared if it wasn't symmetrical. No one noticed. Brian Muir did a fantastic job sculpting Vader. ANH Vader was raw and menacing. He looked like a hardened soldier that just spent 20 years hunting Jedi's.
"We've noticed it's totally asymmetrical, so what we've done is we've chosen the side that we liked, taken a mould of that and ruined it." Yep. True story.
Completely missing the point that the asymmetrical ugliness of the original mask was one of the things that made him so frightening. Why fix things that were broken for a reason?
@@thehealthy-man7522 Not sue why you think anyone would care about the opinions of someone who likes the prequels. What next, is someone who likes Highlander 2 going to chime in?
Yeah, so they "fixed" it and it just didn't "look" right. NObody has a symmetrical face. Take a face photo and then mirror one half over to the other. You won't recognize yourself.
Sorry, but that's a lot of work for what ended up being the worst looking Vader of all the films. Using all those originsl reference pieces to essentially make a completely different costume. The final product looks like a Rubies costume. And, one big hint...the imperfections of the original sculpt MAKE Vader's appearance.
