@Calvin Coates we were 50/50 about the thumb and decided to use it since it was predictable. After seeing the comments, we realized we screwed up and changed the thumb asap.
Starkiller made vader his bitch twice during the force unleashed games, then again starkiller was much more powerful then the main character from this game
I agree with you, Vader took him out without even clashing Lightsabers with Cal, makes when Obi-Wan, Ahsoka and Luke (in Return of the Jedi) went toe-to-toe with him all the more awesome (not to mention Luke seems to be the only one in canon that defeated Vader)
@@bretts7200 In EU he was confirmed to be less powerfull than Anakin. They showed Vader as a guy that mourns and cries everyday instead of a badass like the new canon.
@@KingArthur39 wrong on both fronts lol. Anakin was never confirmed to be stronger than Vader. And you are missing every single time Vader was a badass motherfucker in the EU. If you would like some story recommendations I would be happy to give them too you. But saying these over arching statements is kinda disengenous. And completely devoid of context. In short it's okay to like both my friend it's all star wars (And seriously though if you want some more baddass Vader shit I can reccomend a bunch of shit!)
I'm glad they didn't make him suddenly powerful enough to take on Vader. That was a good detail. Also he gets a double bladed light saber that he can split to dual wield with! Awesome!
Better no one will beat him except 1 thing. The only way to defeat him is his own children - Luke & Leia. The twins have their father's blood & Force powers.
I love how they portrayed Vader in this game, The pure look of dread on Trillas face says it all, what the hell are you going to do in that situation? Having no choice but to run from Vader is the most realistic choice possible. I’m very happy they didn’t go the whole Rey route and make cal stupid powerful for no reason. Great game
I don't even follow star wars(of course I know Vader) but I was still terrified when I heard the breathing,I had the same thought as the main character "run for my fucking life".Loved it.
If you have decent headphones they really turned up the bass when vader landed making a loud THUD sound. Plus, they made him look like a fucking tank and it was just an awesome scene overall. 9/10 on this game for me.
I mean It's great that Vader is given the gravitas that he deserves, but making him so OP compared to even accomplished jedi that he barely even needs to try is kind of silly He's the only character in the series who's treated like he breaks the power scales, but then you go back and watch the movies that gave him that reputation in the first place and he's just a low-energy cripple in a scary looking suit that happens to have enough arm strength to swing his glowing bat harder than an old man and an angry boy
@@Lazypackmule That's pretty accurate. But seeing the stuns done by Maul, Savage Opress, Darth Sidious the canon needs to adapt the Chosen One in to the mix realistically.
The scariest part about vader is that he was only 27-28 years old in fallen order. He was still adjusting to his new suit and the pain and his connection with the force was far weaker than it was in the later years. So Cere and Cal encountered with Vader's one of the weakest state and this happened. I wonder what would happen if they went up against a prime Vader.
jacinto rojas facts one thing I didn’t like about the force unleashed is that it made star killer OP as fuck he absolutely destroyed Vader but here in this game Cal runs from Vader because he knows Vader is on a whole new level of power just like he’s supposed to be ! He’s killed plenty of Jedi and it actually shows
@@weed3728 star killer being that powerful was acceptable like let's be real he was trained by vader all his life to become a heartless killing machine he didn't just get op on his own... he was basically another vader the reason he won was he was younger and faster and driven on hatred and rage. It was Vader's fault yo got that powerful. Vader made the same mistake with another one called the maul killer he nearly killed vader but one thing about starkiller he may have been on Vader's level but he didn't even come close to palpatine. Palpatine fucked him up. It's not like starkiller was stronger than yoda or mace. He had limits and that's something u need to consider Vader had been fucked up a few times by a few jedi
I Am Yeti I agree but some of Star killers strength was unbelievable like when he brought down a star destroyer that was absolutely bad ass but it just didn’t feel right I DO agree that he should’ve beaten Vader in a 1vs1 but he beat Vader so goddamn bad ( TWICE ) it made Vader feel watered down and he was even going toe to toe with Palpatine being able to hold his force lighting longer than Yoda
@@weed3728 I got u I totally do but the thing is he may of lasted with palpatine with holding his lightning longer but he died from that and with yoda it didn't event hurt him that much and plus palpatine was the one who let the lightning go cuz yoda was hitting him back with it and starkiller was holding for his dear life lmao and I got u on that they could have made the fights harder for starkiller but he basically was more powerful than vader cuz he didn't have thg he robot limbs and he wasnt limited in power like Vader u know now if vader was anakin he would kill starkiller cuz he had no limits that's all I'm saying bro what I dony agree is starkiller beating luke cuz by that time luke was god he would have destroyed starkiller but it was more of a fan dlc but yes vader is strong asf hes basically satan lmao but he is limited and the edge starkiller had was youth speed and him not being limited with robot limbs and I think it was possible bringing the ship down with the force it wasnt easy but keep in mind vader palpatine yoda windu anakin would be able to do that to with ease starkiller had trouble even tho starkiller was strong like vader he had alllloooooooottttttt of weaknesses but I totally agree with u
K1ngw1ng Jr It doesn’t work that way lol. He’d definitely be much more powerful if he had never been injured on Mustafar. He could have reached his full potential and would have been the strongest force user to ever exist.
See how the color of the background changes when Trilla says, "I've carried so much hate for you.", signifying her potential change/realization back toward the light. Even more interesting how Darth Vader walks out of that same background with Anakin's Dark Deeds playing, representing that Vader too was once a Jedi of the light. Great use of cinematography and music in this scene!
Darth Vader: "Hi." MC: "Oh....shit. i guess this is gonna be a boss...fight?" Darth Vader: "Surprisingly generous way of describing a terror-inducing chase sequence if you ask me." MC: "FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK-"
@@clarkkane6021 ya I never understood these people who are into video game characters. I can understand actors and actresses because you can fuck them. Video games character it seems weird.
Mr Finch technically all of these characters are modeled after REAL people lol, so that logic doesn’t really hold up here. Elizabeth Grullon aka Trilla can get this dick
I think of Jerome/Jeremiah a lot in this game as well. Which is awesome because it makes me love his underrated acting abilities that he could play such radically different roles between this and Gotham.
Same with him from shameless. That's why I can't watch jack ryan because I only see that funny fucker from the office and can't take him seriously as a hero/spy
I like how they made Vader basically, invincible its how it should be. His only weakness are his cybernetics which if disrupted can disable him. But even that isn't much of a weakness since Vader can sustain himself with the force for a LONG time
Filip Vadas Also the cheat button thing. I’m surprised Luke didn’t whip out his blaster then shot him in the chest during his first time during saber lock.
@@fulcrum6760 1. Vader would have anticipated that attack. 2. Even if Luke did shoot him in the chest, the pain and rage will just make Vader stronger and decimate him immediately.
@@fulcrum6760 he has been shown to survive for several minutes and even hours without his breathing aparatus, not to mention thst in his free time he has been using the force to slowly heal his lungs. Unfortunately , he never did heal them properly before he died, but by the time A New Hope hits, he could probably survive a day without it.
Yeah. Pretty cool but in all fairness when fighting him in the Force Unleashed one thing to keep in mind is that Galen had the advantage of knowing how Vader fights due to him being Vader's apprentice
No. They died for the empire NOT to get their hands on them. And Cal knew it was not the moment for the force sensitives to be trained, or they would get all killed. The empire would hunt them all.... Also, with the holocron still, the empire wouldn't rest until they got their hands on it. They destroyed it for the best.
I LOVE this Vader. That has been the thing I appreciate most about the new canon. After Episode III, the EU seemed to nerf Vader and downplay him- from jobbing to his own apprentice (twice!), to being overshadowed by Jedi and Sith that came before and after him (Luke, Jacen, Jaina, Revan, virtually every major Dark Lord from the Old Republic), plus that whole narrative of “Vader was at his strongest pre-Mustafar because he lost most of his power after his injuries” that popped up post-RoTS-but ever since the canon overhaul, it seems that it’s been one of Lucasfilm’s priorities to reestablish Vader’s aura of terror and invincibility. And personally, I like it. I like the idea of Vader going those 20+ years more or less undefeated and defeating and killing countless Jedi and rebels along the way, until Luke comes around. And he was holding back against Luke, anyway. Vader is still the CHOSEN ONE.
That “Vader was at his strongest pre-Mustafar because he lost most of his power after his injuries” narrative came directly from George Lucas. His direct quote in an interview done around the time Revenge of the Sith came out was- "from then on he wasn't as strong as the Emperor, he was like Darth Maul or Count Dooku" Basically the less influence Lucas has the stronger Vader is depicted
Rhythmic Thrashing sure not as strong as the Emperor is still really strong. But Lucas explicitly puts him on the same strength/power levels as Maul and Dooku. Maul has been beaten multiple times by Kenobi and Dooku was defeated by Anakin which suggests based on Lucas’s comments that Vader is less powerful than his former self Anakin and less powerful than even Obi-Wan. That’s no where near as strong as a lot of fans make him out to be
Cal: holy shit this is the most intense moment of my life....I need to give it my all Vader: (while holding back the ocean) damnit I left the oven on (heavy breath) oh shit that boy got away....meh it’s fine
The way that Trilla starts breathing heavily and visibly displays huge distress when she hears Vader is so realistic. Inquisitors were not recruited by choice, they were tortured and mutilated into subservience. Vader was key to "training" this new breed of killer, her genuine terror upon sensing him walking in was both apt and heart breaking.
@@nlawson2004 it is if youve been listening to his voice acting on rebels and rogue one lately. This is closer to his rebels voice where they altered it. Rogue one's sounds weirder than his rebels voice
@@jimfortnite7810 That was also a while ago. I don't know the exact date but she was young when she lost her friend. Also there's a such thing as bisexual people. They aren't a myth in video games lol.
I love the fear on cal’s face when he sees Vader, he’s being put in a situation where’s he completely out matched and doesn’t know what the hell to do.
I love the fear on the second sister face, when she realize Vader is there and even though she doesn't want to die, it's better then the torture he will do to get.
I would’ve wanted Barriss but only if Ahsoka was in the game and the main playable hero. A story involving Barriss without Ahsoka would be a missed opportunity because the two were best friends.
@@Corxival What makes anyone think this even compares to the greats like KOTOR 1-2, Republic Commando, the Jedi Knight series, the original Battlefront 1-2, and any other SW game that came out before?
@@OdinPlays94 if Cal didn't cut the holocron in half, we are still halfway through Fallen Order searching for all the younglings and gathering them to face vader and sidious :D
“Decapitation and gore is used only for worthy moments” well then that’s a lie cos the second sister being killed by Vader is a pretty big plot twist and yet somehow her head is still attached to her body Edit: I’ve never had this many likes before but I’m so pleased that so many people agree with me
Well maybe the saber didn’t go all-the-way through? Same kinda thing happend to Maul, where the strike clinically cut through the body without actully slicing it in half.. it seems that Vader cut her diagonally, not her neck but her back in whole... and besides, I wouldn’t have wanted to see Seconds body rolling away in two... I rly liked her character and it was heartbreaking when I realized that she could not survive...
just played this. vader was insanely overwhelming. you power up so much in the game to you the force in better ways, but then Vader comes along and just freely manipulates everything around him like he's using cheat codes and you can't do anything to stop him. it's awesome and it was acc sorta scary.
Diewott1 I know but I was hoping that this game would make him canon or suggest that there is still a possibility that the force unleashed could be canon someday. The story is so good
George Lucas says the reason why Luke defeated Vader was because Vader was conflicted, and didn’t want to hurt him. But I agree though. That boy was on somethin 😂.
George Lucas had a VERY different view on Vader then pretty much everyone else. Some direct quotes from interviews with him include- "from then on he wasn't as strong as the Emperor, he was like Darth Maul or Count Dooku" "ultimately he's just a pathetic guy who's had a very sad life" "He's not even an all powerful bad guy, he's kind of a flunky" Lucas viewed Vader as being severely weakened to the point of being on the same level of Sith like Maul and Dooku after his fight with Obi-Wan, it's only the fans and other writers who've made him out as an unstoppable monster
Vader wasn't trying to kill Luke, and he wasn't as strong then as he was here. Let's not forget that Ahsoka does far more damage to Vader than Luke did, and Vader was actively trying to get rid of her because she was a tragic reminder of his past life
Vader has literally bodied every injury he's faced and just gone straight to choking/smashing people. He's never focused on pure lightsaber combat. He's just impossible to kill.
I love the power of Vader shown here. Even when caught by surprise any action can only influence him for a few seconds before he goes deeper into his darkness and overpowers it.
Top 5 game I’ve every played ! I remember coming home from work speeding just to get home to play , it was so good my wife would sit down next to me and watch . Truly a masterpiece a sequel better come out in 2022!!!
blacklight Syphon Why would you expect Cal to be even able to fight him? I mean, Vader literally threw him across the room. He’s way too strong for Cal physically to last a minute
blacklight Syphon Because fighting him as a regular boss would be idiotic. Vader is levels above him in terms of power, for once they’re trying to respect the canon and Star Wars in general by creating a playable character that has limitations and by the end of the game is still not strong enough to even truly fight on equal grounds with someone like Vader. This isn’t The Force Unleashed aka God of War: Star Wars Edition where you’re overpowered and can take on everyone like a one man army, including Vader and the Emperor. It’s being realistic, you wouldn’t stand a chance against him, he’s meant to be one of the most powerful Sith Lords in the canon, I’m glad they made the fight one-sided and showcased how completely terrifying it would be going up against him. This was like Rogue One but expanded upon, it was amazing.
Seeing as you're here, I suppose you don't mind spoilers? She's a Padawan that escaped Order 66. She only managed to momentarily halt Vader by heavily drawing on the Dark Side, and even then, after the initial effect he basically ignored her efforts.
She was a Jedi master who lost her Padawan (the Insquisitor Vader killed) and who constantly struggles with the Dark Side. She's been a long time coming. She didn't just learn the Force by any means.
The scariest thing about vader here is 10:09, The way he tells her that's she's failed him without any emotion or signs of anger and he just rids of her just like that.
