In the search for arms and artillery, Captain Rex brings the rebels to an old abandoned base from the Clone Wars. They quickly find that they're not alone, however, and must once again face enemies from the past.
Bovine Designs oh you should come down here to Ontario eh it’s pretty nice everybody is always nice and thanking each other and saying sorry and greeting each other but of course right now with coved-19 right now it’s a lot different
There is some droid factories that are still lingering in the time of the empire if they weren't reactivated then the empire wouldn't know where they were so they wouldn't be destroyed
@@MusicMan-xu3ys if I remember correctly I think there was one or two comic books about this but a novel center stormtroopers having to survive against a small army of battle droids would be interesting tho
Yeah, I was wondering what god do they have and how common or a phrase is that to use? Also does that mean it can feel fear because I would think if you build a droid specifically for combat purposes you would not program it to retreat in a situation like this. It’s out in the open, no cover, outnumbered but it has a clear shot on at least one, why wouldn’t he shoot?
wales2k the Stormtroopers would be overwhelmed to the point that they retreat. Those droids put up a fight against the Clone Troopers and they’re superior to Stormtroopers.
There was a geonosian named Gizor Dellso, who reactivated a Droid factory on Mustafar and also repaired an entire Providence-Class destroyer with some fighters all by his own. That alone was enough of a threat to send in the 501st Legion. Imagine if the rebels mass produced all variations of battle droids, with BXs and Droidekas, with heavy armory like spider droids or AATs and an entire Fleet
Actually it is canon that the stormtrooper's armors provide better protection than clone's. Also there is a thing called morale, the clones being trained by Jedi wasn't so good as motivated troopers who had their planet saved and decided to enlist, the Academys get the Troopers with a 70% accurracy, and even kenobi said that the Troopers were good aim. Just get the facts, mate.
Droid are good at shooting enemies because they are the old battle droids of the separatist they have experienced war before so that droids are good if the rebellion found the secret droid factory and rebuild more that would be the balance of the troops so that the empire storm troopers will lose
Clone Trooper: "I never thought I'd die fighting side by side with a clanker" Droid: "How about fighting side by side with a friend" Clone: "Aye. I can do that"
The droid who got stepped on, the poor guy actually started waving his arms around. That is NOT standard protocol. Seeing his comrades fall caused so much trauma that he became more human, developing a fear of death and overriding his commands to negotiate and his "instincts" to fire back.
Remember droids the longer they are alive and no memory wipe they more unique and human they become, look at r2d2, never had his memory removed so he was just as much a free thinker as humans are
And before this, Rex had a PTSD moment that showed the clones were human. He reacts and calls out for Cody thinking the war is still on and Anakin is on the way to save them. You don't get that many instances of writers of a series showing the effects of war on an individual.
Fun fact: while there were very few separatist holdouts left by the time the Rebel Alliance was formed, the CIS remnants provided the rebels with several Lucrehulks, Providence-class carriers and Banking Clan Frigates. Each one was manned by one battalion of Battle Droids (though the droids were mostly used as security guards, which allowed the rebels to use more recruits for their infantry and navy). In addition to that, they were able to add about 10 Hailfire Droid tanks to the Alliance military, but they were used very sparingly and only during sieges. The rebels also came close to activating a hidden droid foundry, but the Empire beat them to it and destroyed it. A famous Rebel Lucrehulk called the Fortressa served as a rebel capital ship until it was destroyed by the Death Star. However, the Confederate ships became outdated once the rebels acquired the Mon Calamari cruisers. Nevertheless, they all served the Alliance until the Battle of Endor, where they were all destroyed.
There of course was Thrown who collected antiques. Among his collection he had the shield droids that wheel to battle and buzz droids which he used against the Rebels
Rebel alliance to restore the Republic… they were literally part of the galactic republic but when the empire took over they decided to form their own barricades to fight against the empire and to reestablish the galactic republic
You got one thing incorrect. Most of the confederate cruisers were destroyed in the battle of Scarif, with only a single vessel making it to the battle of endor.
"...and when you were both weak enough, the empire took over." Implying the Empire is an entirely separate entity from the Republic let alone the clones and droids
@@reaperquartz It really was, all one big 4 dimensional chess game to prime the galaxy for the empire to take over. I'm not sure any character after the clone wars ever fully appreciated how hard he played everyone.
You can actually see all the stormtroopers looking up after their commander signals them to hold their fire. You can tell they wanted to see this happen.
The General is probably heading out to an untouched holdout (or a place likely to be untouched after the war). Either way, I honestly doubt we'll see the last of him.
Yeah, Some B-2 Super Battle droids actually survived up to the Force awakens, So I would assume at this time there are still at least over one million droids left in existence at the time of rebels.
"You are against the Empire, I am against the Republic. Now, the Republic has become the Empire..." *peeps at Rex just to add insult to injury* "I accept your logic."
Mister C I know it’s too good Wait here’s a dumb idea droids that are still fighting sort of like a resistance just b1s just stealing vhelches and eventually liberate a town and be accidental good guys
The Empire destroying these is the equivalent of destroying a WW2 weapon. Then again, there were quintillions of CIS Battle Droids produced, so idk if it would be the same or not.
4th wall breaking, when a Separatist Droid Commander & Captain Rex Republic clone trooper come to the realization that Palpatine/Darth Sidious not only instigated the Clone Wars but played both sides like puppets.
Or maybe resurrect them in the next set of star wars movie so they form an alliance with the rebels and eliminate every sign of empire like sum there was Now that the clones are gone
It's so cool to see the antagonists from the prequel trilogy going up against the antagonists from the original trilogy!! Battle Droids vs Stormtroopers....epic!!
In Star Wars Battlefront 2, there's actually two missions where you have to quell an uprising of Sepratist Droids as Imperial Stormtroopers, which was pretty damn cool.
+MrMyriad well the clone wars was pretty massive, and it had only been over for 19 years when the Original Trilogy started, so it makes sense that there would be some aftershock coming from the Separatists.
You right. The reason they give for this is a Geonosian who was in charge of manufacturing the droids used factories on Mustafar to make a new army while using a fleet of existing droids and sepratist flagships to defend the orbit. IDK if this is canonically sound but it seems legit.
This isn't a cross-over though since its all within the same universe, same galaxy and within the same timeline, canonical storyline and has the same characters from the same franchise. I guess you can say the same about Marvel but the characters are more individual in that universe as a handful of them have films dedicated to just that one character.
He means it in the sense that is unusual to see the old robots from the prequels appear along the elements of the original trilogy, as the walkers and clones using classic stormtrooper armor. You guys are reading too hard on a simple joke.
@@samstocker6450 They are less individual in those films because the intention from the beginning was to come together and a majority of them are also on the same planet and are directly in contact with each other early on. In this case it's two groups of people who shouldn't exist meeting new ones.
@@shadowninja958 I'm not talking about individual within its own universe. I'm talking about individual in story. Their solo movies are focused on just them while in this their stories rely on one another to even exist.
1:24 'You are against the empire, I am against the republic, now the republic has become the empire... I accept your logic, we're one the same side...' LOL XDDDDDDD
Noah Potato Yeah, it is. Just because it's the same license, doesn't suddenly excuse their unoriginality. Do you think if BF2 never happened, or any Legends content for that matter never happened, that they would've come up with this idea on their own? No, because Fiolni and his ilk are unoriginal hacks.
Yoda Funny, I could've swore when this whole debacle started, people said "Oh, Disney needs new ideas and room for Star Wars.". Now it's "Well their bringing back the ideas.". See, funny thing, I don't want the ideas. I want the fucking original thing. If they want Han Solo's evil son, just bring back Jacen Solo, not this Kylo Ren bitch. If they want a Mandalorian leader who leads the Protectors and joins the rebels, bring back Fenn Shysa, not clone him. See, that's the funny thing. If I killed your father, then had a clown dress up as him, would you be happy? Well, it's the idea of your father, so you should like it all the same.
+Zillafire101 Oh, you have a foul mouth, how original. Were you always born with a foul mouth? 'Cuz you're spewing out nothing but nonsense, you want something that original? Well, it's right in front of you, yet you don't accept the fact that it's new, you're just ruining your childhood for being a whining little crybaby by nitpicking, raging, throwing a tantrum, and screaming about what they do, it's what you do, really. And don't get me started on those who are just like you, and you're just like them, I don't tolerate people who're like that, especially you, I don't like your attitude, it's why you have that foul mouth, nobody wants to hear what you say. it's funny how the world turns out to be, part of it likes what it is, and the other part just doesn't learn to accept the fact that it has to get along, you're part of those who don't accept it. Me? I'm with the part that that likes what it is. if you don't like it, then you're going to accept the fact that it's the harsh truth, if you won't, then you'll be like that for the rest of your life. Why? because it's the way of the universe, that's why.
This episode was the perfect representation of what playing with your LEGOs were like as a kid. Long before this episode aired, I’d always put my LEGO stormtroopers, clone troopers and battle droids all up against one another. This episode was an excellent reflection of that
+Darth Nihilus And another droid saying it on an unfinished Clone Wars episode about General Grievous where a Vulture Droid crashes onto a Frigate’s bridge.
Honestly one of my favourite episodes. The attention to detail is spot on. Ezra "solving" what happened at the end of the Clone wars was a bit ham-handed, but the episode as a whole holds up well. The first time I saw it was almost like having vivid flashbacks myself, complete with the waterworks. Rex's struggle and disorientation kept punching me in the feelings, and the credits finally broke me. sigh *One last glorious day in the Grand Army of the Republic.*
@@mikhail_tal1866 nah he merged his phase 1 helmet with the respirstor of the pase 2 if u look at it closely u can see the weld marks on it plus his visor matches the visor of the phase 1 not phase 2
Abhineet Soren that requires a way to not only reactivate the droid's but a way to build them also Battle droid's are old not only is there technology outdated the droid's themselves are malfunctioning for example the droiddeka shields over heat now and can easily be lowered so I doubt that other advanced droid's would fair much better
We'll see him again, but I doubt the Empire would have been foolish enough to leave entire droids factories simply "deactivated" and abandoned. If they had... well, we've already witnessed plenty of time their incompetence. Man, I really loved Forces of Corruption, too bad even the Extended Universe (Legends) didn't tell more stories about the Consortium and Zann himself !
Thibault Doucet I don't know most if not all of the droid factories were hidden deep in the outer rim and the empire has trouble monitoring the outer rim even at the height of there power there must be hundreds of hidden droid factories that sidious never even heard of especially since he left dooku and the separatist high council in charge of all that info(who were all killed by Anakin Skywalker)
+Rodrigo Martinez they had a bigger budget, that explains the better artstyle for the clone wars (I am not sure but it is a possibility that the artstyle of rebels is also this way because some prototype artwork for the original trilogy was like this, of course this could not be case, I don't know for sure). I like rebels more because I realy love the originals and I am not realy into the clone wars era. this is of course my humble opinion :)
well this not going to be kid's show materiel anymore it's entering the clone wars evolution where it looked kind kiddy and low budget now it gets better and all that even grand admiral thrawn there getting the big guns here this is where gets all dark and head on over to the next level where the events of the original trilogy happen so don't judge it yet judge when season 3 wraps up ok?
cause of a company buyout George Lucas decided to basically retire and sell the company and star wars so in turn cause of this star wars the clone wars was cancelled cause of the merger so this is kind of George Lucas's fault but I don't blame Lucas film and Disney they did did pretty well the force awakens was a big hit at the box office the Phineas and fern crossover was great and star wars rebel is going to be an amazing series and everything they did so far is also great and also the show is actually made by almost the same people as the clone wars team we dave filoni and others too so don't blame anything on Disney these people are doing Disney seems to have little to no involvement on the show's team and please don't judge it until season 3 is over ok
Jobie Rasar He soled the company so 2000 people wouldn't be unemployed. Everything that has taken place since Disney has stepped in sucks ass. SW is dead and is now a cash cow
"Truth be told we'd all gotten our fill of these gearheads during the war, and couldn't stomach the thought of going through another one" "So we blew them all up; blew up the droids, blew up the factory... damn near blew up the planet"
I imagine not kid friendly version of the scene,(assuming the trooper was a clone) theyd just shoot them as they marched out not even thinking about it
Droids in general have a belief in the Maker. The Maker is a being thought to be behind the original creation of droids and made them into intelligent beings. The Sunesi also called him The Giver. Both of these names imply a great being that creates life and gives soul.
Okay, very small detail I think some people noticed but not everyone. When the storm troopers exit the shuttle at 0:28, the commander is giving the rookies some info about the battle droids, I'm assuming that he's an older clone training the rookies. (The voices are a dead giveaway)
I believe at least in legends there was still a shit ton of clones still around but a huge amount of the remaining ones were killed on the death star .
"When you were both weak enough, (Clones and Droids) the Empire took over!" Clones didn't become weak, they betrayed. Then the Empire 'formed' R.I.P Jedi.
Pedro José In Legends, the Clones were solely loyal to the Republic, it’s just that the Republic gave the Jedi the “keys” to command them so to speak. However, due to The Clone Wars series humanizing the Clones, and giving them individuality, the betrayal seemed less plausible, so the Inhibitor chip was introduced in Canon. I actually like the change cause it adds a sense of tragedy to the Clone’s existence.
To be fair, the “betrayal” was always related from the perspective of the betrayed. Chip or not, that would have felt like a betrayal. I honestly can’t remember if there were stories about the the Clone Wars that intimated any explanation other than the one set down in TCW, but I do remember that the control chips made their way into several Expanded Universe novels, mostly those involving Fett or Mandalorians.
SUG THE DARK CLONE OF GUS AATs are cool, but the Hailfire tanks were almost nonexistent in the clone wars series and I'd like an in canon battle where we'll see how the separatists hold against the empire.
But the thing is, the empire already beat the separatists in the clone wars. Sure, it’s different now, but the changes would most likely be for the better.
Let's not forget Star Wars: Battlefront II where there was the Mustafar mission (in story mode) where a Geonosian reactivated the droid army & even some ships.
