@@komodo_moe3930 ok so kotor 1 and kotor 2 are the best star wars games ever made. They may look a bit dated, but the dialogue and feel of the game is phenomenal. Kotor 1 is set 4000 years before the events of a new hope where a war is taking place between the republic and sith empire. You choose your character and make choices that influence your character, the people around you and the galaxy. Kotor 2 is set 10 (i think) years after kotor 1 and you create your character in a galaxy where the jedi are apparently extinct, and the republic is on the brink of collapse. The sith have revealed themselves and believe you to be the last Jedi. Both games contain the whole choices thing and are set 100 years before the events of swtor. Watch some gameplay, it'll give you an idea of what you're in for. Also the whole thing with this comment is in kotor 2 (and kind of kotor 1) you can gain influence on your companions allowing them to trust you and sometimes giving you the opportunity to train them in the force or for them to completely distrust you. It all depends on your actions. Play kotor. It's brilliant.
@@angeliedeluz Because of Anakin telling Grievous he's shorter than he expected in Revenge of the Sith. That line showed that they never met before, so the Clone Wars writers had to avoid letting Anakin and Grievous meet each other so that their interaction in the movie doesn't seem weird.
@@ollie_ackbar Would be even better if he was a shiny and this was his first assignment... and that's the story of how he got his nickname. Let's just create him a lore just like how people liked TR8R in TFA... I'd like to think he was in the 501st or some othe badass clone battalion got promoted to ARC trooper after a while and then he deserted when Order 66 came and he had to kill a Jedi
I’m glad we got to see Grievous actually kick a some ass here, he actually put Kenobi down really quickly, and would have killed him if he didn’t stop to talk shit lol.
They had to put plot armor on Kenobi so he would survive until Revenge of the Sith, and even if Grievous didn't stop to talk, Obi-Wan coulda just quickly move out of the way and keep fighting.
Lol obi won he caught him off guard with a powerful force push how grievous kicked his ass i mean almost every time they meet kenobi wins and grievous runs
@@mariakanellopoulou3653 Did you doze off the part where Grevious outmatched Obi Wan beforehand, to the point Obi had to resort to the force (which didn't hand Obi the win), in terms of who was close to killing who Grevious is the closest. Throughout the series Grevious became way too powerful for Kenobi to handle in duels that he had to restort to the force or run away (two things that didn't result in victory), in terms of raw lightsaber combat, Grevious is stronger than Obi.
1:42-1:54 The choreography in this little segment is so good. I love the little pause that Anakin takes before going back in to fight Asajj. It's like he's thinking "Okay, I guess I'm actually going to have to go on the offensive," and at that point you can definitely tell he's getting the better of her.
Kinda ironic, I remember this episode and the CIS was actually doing the Jedi a favor in a way. By destroying the clone production facility they're sorta crippling Palpatines rise to power and also faltering order 66. So I gotta laugh when I see the jedi defending this facility that will produce their killers LOL
Rhen Vao but how do we know that the entire CIS government would listen to Dooku or Palpatine if he tells them “don’t annihilate the Republic”? I’m sure even Grievous wouldn’t listen, seeing as he hates the Jedi soo much.
Darth Vader No one tells anyone not to "annihilate the Republic". Both sides give it their all. When the war's tipping in favor of the CIS, Palps gives the Republic intel about the CIS, and when it's in favor of the Republic the same goes otherwise.
With palpatine controlling both sides I think he was testing to see the clones ruthlessness against the enemy in their darkest hour and see if they're strong enough, thus confirming his thoughts on using them for order 66
That doesn't mean anything, just because their lines are similar doesn't make a reference, look at the many people that have said the same exact line, is that a reference too?
He was toying with Obi Wan here. Even before in Season 2, Grievous stomped him twice. Guys, Grievous is still strong, but my theory is that when they introduce a character like Kit Fisto, they want to make him seem powerful. So they pitch him against that one guy with four lightsabers, cuz he's crazy intimidating.
It's quite interesting to note that most of Grievous' defeats were due to his opponents having force abilities, which really he could do nothing against. In terms of raw lightsaber prowess, he quite often comes out on top when he doesn't get too cocky.
@@Dreumes971 Fisto also used the force in his fight with the General, it wasn't as impactful as Obi's use here, but it was enough to turn the momentum slightly of the fight in Fisto's favor. Up to that point, Grievous held his own, and though on the back foot, he continued holding his own against Fisto until his guard arrived. Without the force, in just saber-to-saber combat, General Grievous is one of the best fighters in Star Wars, only really beaten by Sith (His fighting style relies on overwhelming/fear, something not effective on Sith) and Jedi Masters. Up against a regular Jedi Knight, Grievous will win pretty much every time. That is, in just saber skill.
@@timalsept2854 ahsoka has never won against grievous dumbass. grievous has fought her 2 times and both times she ran away because grievous obviously had the over hand.
@@mersifullwolf4054 Ensnared in the creatures' tentacles while simultaneously being confronted by the Force-wielding Ezra Bridger, who brought the Purrgil to defend Lothal, the Star Destroyer is dragged from the planet's vicinity by them, leaving both Thrawn's and Bridger's fates unknown.
Better voice, more brutal, and showing him to be kind. He still behaved like a brat far too many times though. Honestly, the prequels just makes it hard to like Vader anymore.
Been saying this forever. The prequels already HURT the OT because the man who redeemed at the end of Jedi was NOT childmurdering turncoat lol... The Anakin from the TCW is the Anakin from Jedi. Hayden is amazing - and when cut right, he's brilliant - so not his fault.
This scene was amazing. It was the first time we got to see Ventress and Grievous fight side by side, even though they weren’t really in the same scene. They’re the two main antagonists of the series yet they rarely have any screen time together
I like that grievous keeps fighting under any circumstance unless he is unmatched by the force. Every time he fights obi-wan he fights until the force is used because he knows he can’t power against that
I think the devs are arguing with George on making grievous a powerful as the og clone wars show. While George has ideas of making grievous weaker behind the scene. This is like the best middle ground
About Grievous, he was never supposed to be as powerful as he was portrayed in the 2003 show to begin with, it makes for fun action scenes sure but the purpose of his character was never to be that way. ROTS also directly contradicts his 2003 character by the following statement from Windu: “Grievous will run and hide as he always does, he’s a coward”. While I definitely enjoy 2003 Grievous for what he is I like his TCW appearance more simply because it is in line with his actual character as envisioned in the first place. Personally, I also think TCW Grievous gets far too much flak we have plenty of occasions where he is actually threatening Eeth Koth, him vs Galia, and his multiple encounters with Kenobi in the show (where Grievous actually has the upper hand for the most part, until Kenobi uses the force on him) not to mention his massacre on Dathomir. Having said all this though, I would’ve liked to see a bit more of Grievous being threatening in the show (the Utapau arc comes to mind; still bummed it was never finished).
This show is PAINSTAKINGLY about making sure Anakin and Grievous don't meet until Episode 3, during the dozens of times like this that they could have. I respect that.
I love seeing how the fight choreography evolves through the show. In seasons 1 & 2, it was all just snappy, quick movements and a freeze frame. But once we got to season 3 here, they started implementing little things from the live action films that just even though they're subtle, really help it feel more authentic. You can definitely tell by just the number of times people just twirl their lightsaber either in between attacks or whenever they break off for a second. And I could go on about how it evolves even more all the way through to season 7 but that would take too long and this is only season 3
General Grievous always gets beaten the same way. They just force push him and he runs away. He is really bad in this series, and you hardly ever view him as what he should really be, a terrifying and brilliant fighter and general who has won more times than he has lost.
WukFanatic no they got him right. As his chest was forced crushed he lost most of his warrior abilities if you will. And now takes less risk and takes a cowardly approach
I think his chest been crushed not much before Episode 3, in the mission when separatists capture Palpatine ans Episode 3 begins when Palpatine is rescued.
To be fair, he didn't run away in this particular scene, just lured Obi-Wan away from his troops. Why would he wait for Obi-Wan out in the open to engage him again instead of jumping into his ship otherwise?
Anakin never duel him because the show makers needed to keep in continuity with the films. Anakin canonically first meets/fights Grievous in Revenge of Sith as indicated in the dialogue in the film when they meet up there.
alexh4319 Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww I've always asked myself how come they've never dueled yet many times their armies habe engaged in battle but i never thought about it. Thanks 😂
Funny bcuz I finished the show a few months back and have watched RotJ way to many times... and I nvr thought about it till today (I'm watching RotJ again at work) and instantly thought about the show and if they ever met before... glad they kept it in line with each other
Another instance where the writers had to be sure that Grievous and Anakin didn't come face to face because of their exchange of dialogue in Revenge of the Sith.
It’s interesting how we can see anakin’s fighting prowess change over time. In the beginning of the war, he was probably equal with ventress. By this battle, you can tell he’s the dominant fighter, and by the end of the war, he’s far and away stronger than ventress and was closer to dooku’s level.
Obi-wan: I'll take on Grievous. You take on Ventress. Anakin: But I want to see if he's as tall as I expect! Obi-wan: No! You're not allowed to meet him until we become live action again! Anakin: Aw... I don't like being live action. I lose my charisma when I'm live action...
Possibly but I think it is more like how individuals with two lightsabers fight against individuals who only have 1. I have a feeling there will be some similarities in the fighting style in that regard.
@@ourempires6457 exactly. Kenobi was a greatly disciplined Jedi master, so he never really got cut off from the force around grievous. That’s why they were known to be rivals during the war….
They just loved to tease us with Anakin and Grievous. Numerous times in this show, they were in the same area, but then Anakin would go to a different area before they have a chance to meet and fight. This, on the Malevolence, that episode with R3, the episode with Eath Koth, and the one with the gungans where he ran after the evil guy while Grievous was landing and then got traded for each other. Literally went right past each other but Anakin was mostly unconscious.
First time he stops after Obi-Wan is on the ground, slowly raises his sabers and Obi-Wan leaps away. Here he gloats about how Kamino is totally doomed and gets force pushed away. In another fight he kicks obi-Wan to the ground and says the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi ends here instead of continuing to attack a defenseless Kenobi. In another duel, he saber locks Kenobi and kicks him again only to stop moving and allow Cody to shoot a fuel barrel thrown by Obi-Wan, stopping Grievous for the moment so Kenobi can run. In another fight he actually finally gets Obi-Wan in a position of helplessness in a season 7 deleted scene but decides to place his sabers over his throat and laugh instead of killing him. RIDICULOUS LOL
It's funny how Grievous has to mention to Obi-Wan in Episode III that he's been trained in lightsaber combat when this scene is showing that they've dueled before.
Anakin: “Actually, I plan to let the clones execute you right now.” Ventress: “Not this time.” Me: “not this time? You’ve been executed by clones before Ventress?”
@@Jaerek only in 2003s CW. This takes place in roughly 21 BBY. AotC took place in 22 BBY (a year earlier) and RotS took place in 19 BBY, 2 years later. 2003 Clone Wars is no longer canon and hasn't been since early 2008.
Honestly when Ventress Force Pushed Anakin into the information device she should’ve just ran. Anakin wouldn’t have been able to catch up for awhile and she would’ve been done with her mission and spared Dooku’s wrath. Too bad she enjoys fighting Jedi too much.
I still hate that no one acknowledges the stupidity and canon-breakingness of Grievous only having four fingers per hand. Two fingers, even robot fingers, are not good for holding a melee weapon. Edit: 2:37 transformation sound
