I remember watching this episode when it first aired. One of the clones yelled “What the hell!” in response to those giant worm things. I was really surprised because I didn’t expect anything even remotely like swearing to be in this show. Unfortunately, I wasn’t recording when the episode aired and when it was shown again later that week the “hell” was replaced with “heck.” Which lead me to believe I had just misheard it the first time.
No, that never happened. I watched this when it first came out when I was 8 and it was "heck" not "hell". I think you are referring to the part where Cutup gets eaten by the eel and Hevy says "what the hell was that?" That was the part that got censored.
1:08 Rex's immediate action and Cody's shock. It's clearly a reflection of their generals. Anakin being all "by instinct" and act fast while Obi Wan's "by the book", be patient and express shock, surprise or is just plainly done with Anakin showing off or just trying to annoy his Master.
Yeah, that wasn't very smart of the Commando Droid to do. He should've said "Understood sir, this way please....." as "Roger Roger" is something that battle droids are well known to say in response to orders being given....
Great scene. The one thing I'm a little disappointed about is that we never got to see Republic Commandos vs Commando Droids. I think that would've been amazing.
+Jacob Hoover Rep Commandos would dominate. Their essentially super clone troopers that work in squads of 4. Better armor, better weapons, better skills vs any other infantry unit.
+Joshua Song Rex is an Arc though and Cody a commander meaning they were given the same training as commandos the only difference is that commandos have 3 brothers they are a connected fighting force each compliments the others ability's and ones weakness could be another strong suit in a fight it would be like fighting magnagaurds from republic commando with blasters

In hindsight, if Rex knew it was a droid, he should have been like "Okay, yeah, looks all good to me." and leave then get reinforcements. Like, he shot a single droid and thought "yeah that's all of em."

+SevRoks i don't remember alot things from the clone wars except: obi-wan, anakin(darth vader), yoda, and ahsoka tano. anakin, yoda and ahsoka got lucky and were shown on star wars rebels. (WHY WON'T DISNEY SHOW OBI-WAN!!!!!)
This scene really shows how skilled Rex and Cody are. They didn’t survive the war just because of luck or plot armor just watch how they literally dodge oncoming shots right at them, get to cover when caught in the open, and jump to safety when grenades land near them.
If Cody actually believes Rex shot a clone he was very chill about it, "Rex what the heck are you doing" instead of "REX YOU JUST KILLED ONE OF OUR BROTHERS"
I know people are saying how they changed Cody's "what the hell are you doing" to "what the heck", but I always remembered heck, but then I also remembered one of the clones going "what the Hell was that?" Still, the commando droids disguising was a extremely interesting concept I could see being in comics about a clone that was a commando droid that survived order 66 and became a outcast trying to find his base, and learning about the Imperials.

Agreed. From the way he moved to the way he talked sent off red flags that he was a droid. If I'd been there, I'd have ordered him to take off his helmet just to be sure he was a battle droid before I shot him.
What cracks me up is the moment when the commando droid hopes they have a safe trip back, Rex and Cody just silently look at each other basically with a "what?" Expression.
Ngl, plot armor was thick here, but it's so badass. The missing of most every shot, the complete misses when they have virtually no cover? Realistically, I know Rex and Cody should have died, but I like this even more.

The thing I don't understand is, how do the Commando Droids fit their fingers into all the fingers in the disguise? They only have three fingers and a clone has five.
Guys chill. Cody never said “hell” ever in this episode. He always said “heck” from the beginning. It’s both on the DVD and on Disney Plus (the latter of which has uncensored every other “non kid friendly” scene since) You’re probably remembering when Hevy said it after Cutup got eaten by the Rishi eel in the same episode or when Echo said said “like hell you did” after they retook the base.
@@konnorrose3652 That's what I respect the most about Rex besides his creative ways to fool the enemy. Cody on the other hand seems to be a bit of a doubter like Obi-Wan.

I do enjoy Rex as a character, hell he’s probably my favorite from the show, he is definitely the best, but when it comes to the comics? Or the bad batch, there was a pretty good chance of some troopers just straight up annihilating him
Would've been cool if those commando droids had appeared in republic commando. They'd be somewhere between the B1 and B2 in terms of durability but unlike the other droids, they'd actually use cover like your squad does.
the thing i like best is that, visually, theres no difference between this and him shooting another actual person in the head and this is a "kids" show
