Did people actually hate her when she was introduced? Like I genuinely want to know becuase I keep hearing many people say how much she was hated back then. I loved her character as soon as she appeared in the clone wars movie. I had no problems with her.
Krivan Yes. This is what happens when you do good character development unlike Disney with Rey. Ahsoka had many of the same criticisms that Rey has when she was first introduced
Maul: "It is not the way of your people to hide here in the gutters..." A few decades later, Mandolorians hiding in the the "gutters": "...this is the way." ...I see what you did there.
There, he believed she’s dead. But it’s heartbreaking knowing that when they meet again, it’s in a place of evil and destruction. And what’s worse is that he tries to kill her because, as far as he knows, she’s the last remnant of his past. Of being Anakin Skywalker.
Probs but I think Jon favrou would be a better fit , filoni is TRULY amazing but he's a CREATOR,and favrou is already in the Disney good books with marvel and his live action remakes/cash-grabs
Nah. Dooku being interrogated would've revealed much about the sith conspiracy even if dooku refused to talk. Anakin helped palps along and tied up a very loose end while playing into his machinations. Anakin ruined everything. TCW made us more sympathetic but he still fucked up.
@@revolverocelot1380 he did but its not like teh council was without fault they really screwed anakin over specially windu who refuse to give him the rank of master out of jealousy
@@ruifigueiredo5486 Out of jealousy? Where do people come up with these stupid ideas? Anakin wasn't given the rank of master because he just summarily executed dooku. This set the jedi back quite a bit and helped palpatine along. It was not only against the code and needlessly impulsive but it made their job much harder and the sith lords conspiracy much smoother. Windu wasn't jealous of an angsty boy with anger issues, he was mad that he fucked things up. And it wasn't solely his decision either. Yoda could've said otherwise or obi wan. Or any other council master.
Kathleen Kennedy:“David Feloni was able to build this in a cave! With a bunch of hated prequel characters!” Jar Jar Abrams:“I'm sorry, I am not David.”
At least rian Johnson tried. I got his message, to embrace the future u need to let go of the past. Jj just did his usual cant stick the landing bullshit.
Cnut Olderson is it weird that I felt BAD for Maul when he said that? The dude was cut in half, survived through dark magic and psychosis. Only to be brought back through MORE dark magic and pain, only to be tortured by Palpatine AGAIN. No wonder he legit asked Ashoka to kill him...
The Bad Batch Arc was a Good Time no Alcohol required The Martez Sisters Arc was a Won't Remember in T-Minus One Day And of Course, the Final Four Episodes, or to me, the Official Episode 2.5 movie, is... AWESOMETACULAR
He doesn’t do ratings for TV shows, granted, he gave one for “BBC’s Sherlock - Series 2”, but that was a one time, one-shot thing. Nowadays, he only does ratings for both video games and movies.
@Lego I personally love a new hope most, return second, and empire close with return for 2nd. Then again, I also love the prequels so maybe Lucas' simple style just vibes with my simple mind.
@Lego What a load of nonsense. ESB was intentionally darker than the other two, and that was Lucas' decision. He didn't want the hassle of directing or producing ESB, but he wrote the treatment and rewrote the script several times before Kasdan came on board. He intended it to end in a personal battle. Kurtz fucked up the production, because he wasn't bothered about being on budget, and Lucas had to borrow more money and directly get involved in fixing the movie. The rough cut didn't work at all. It was Lucas' decisions that saved it. Perhaps you don't really understand what SW is supposed to be. It's a silent movie. It's a visual story. The dialogue is there for sound effects and motifs, and characterisation isn't the focus of the movie. Lucas has even said that directly. The prequels were intended to be a broader story that leads into the specific end of the saga, about a father and son and redemption. What Lucas was doing was giving a basic story for children, and an experimental film simultaneously. The prequels just pushed that concept to the extreme, for example the lightsaber fights are an even more extreme example of abstract colour and light.
Jeremy became a kid again during this review. His whole face was covered in a smile. He was excited and happy. The only thing missing was the Star Wars bedsheet that he use to wear. Yo Jeremy where's the bedsheet man?
Honesly if I see the bedsheet, I skip the review. Him not having it here made me trust that he objectively likes the thing he's reviewing, and NOT just happy that the thing let him pretend to be eight years old again.
I love the scene where Obi Wan reveals to Anakin that he knows that he was secretly talking to Padme, it just shows he’s not stupid he knows his apprentice has a secret love but he doesn’t reveal it to the council or anything
Because The Clone Wars has shown us that Obi-Wan had had a relationship of his own. Another example of how The Clone Wars fleshed out all the characters.
Idk about knowing about the secret love part of it because in RotS Obi-Wan does say "Anakin's the father isn't he?" to Padme implying that this is the first time he knew, without a doubt, that they were lovers. At most, maybe he thought that Anakin and Padme's relationship was like his and Satine's where they have feelings for each other but didn't actually do anything about it because of a sense of duty, honor, and...professionalism?
And how Anakin seems to perceive it more as a threat from a council member rather than a wink and a nod from his friend. Subtle signs that their relationship is deteriorating (though Padme was always a subject that Anakin stubbornly never shared with Obi Wan)
I only started binging The Clone wars when I got Disney plus, and it made Anakin my favorite character in all of Star Wars and introduced me to Ahsoka, another favorite character! But I have tried to get my friends into it and they won't give it a chance because they're casual fans and it's a kid's show. The Mandalore arc was one of the best Star Wars I've seen! It did what the movies couldn't and I was pretty upset and sad after the finale. It was so good! Anakin's fall was so much more tragic because you fall in love with this awesome guy and it really hits you even when you know what's gonna happen. I do agree that it feels like Ahsoka means way more to him than Padme ever did. I don't think their relationship was ever fleshed out enough for anyone to care, not even on the show. Farewell to a great show, one of the best endings I've seen in a while. *Cough cough* game of thrones *cough cough*
Kid's show my foot. Just because it's animated does not make it a kid's show. They really need to take a look at it instead of just dismissing it because it's animated.
Hira Mohammed tbh I kinda wish he had a romantic thing with Ashoka and met each other as kids like I really don’t like padme i just think she’s boring 😂
Those last two episodes, as others have already said, are genuinely haunting. Largely because of the music and pacing (and that last scene of course, but I'm going to focus on the music and pacing). In the lead up to Order 66, you hear this Blade Runner-esque atmospheric synthesizer style music, and you totally go "Oh shit, I know what what's going to happen, and it's gonna be terrible" and the characters have no idea. It was like that one scene from RotS that a lot of people liked, with Anakin and Padme looking through the windows while music plays, but moreso. Whoever decided to play these episodes that way (I'd guess Filoni) is very inspired, because that shit was great.
The ending scene was perfection. Vader coming to the crash site and finding Ahsoka’s lightsaber was truly the death of Anakin Skywalker before Luke brought him back at the end Jedi. When he looked to the sky, you could see Anakin’s eyes under the mask, not the red Sith eyes of Vader as he looked at the bird circling overhead that represented the Daughter who had revived Ahsoka on Mortis. I think at that point if he had known Ahsoka was still alive, there would still be a chance that Anakin could have returned and beaten Vader. Thinking she is dead is what killed the last shreds of him.
That makes that scene so much more impactful and really explains why Vader was so pissed at Ashoka in Rebels. She was alive this entire time but didn't reach out to him, that's what he believes in his perspective.
Zus Frankenstein and the tragedy also was that Ahsoka thought he was dead that entire time until Rebels. Despite Maul’s warning that Sidious wanted Anakin and then her feeing something horribly wrong happen with him just before Order 66, she still had so much love and faith in who Anakin was that she never could realize that Darth Vader was him until years later. Her line “I won’t leave you! Not this time.” in Rebels has become so much more heartbreaking
@@zusfrankenstein8561 The finale also makes you understand Ahsoka's righteous anger too. "I am no Jedi." was said with such venom I couldn't quite understand why. But when she's talking with the council (fuck you mace) she said "I did my duty as a citizen." yoda replies "but not as a jedi." she says "no....not yet." AND she tells Obi-Wan to tell Anakin something, she asks the council to speak with Anakin, I think she wanted to tell HIM personally, that she was thinking about coming back. But Vader and Palpatine ensured she'd never be able to......imagine that kind of pain. Damn.
@Nick Fletcher. perhaps by Rebels it's true, because he's had 14 yrs to stew. Right After the fall of the Republic? I think had he known she was still alive, He would have fought harder against his despair.
If you watch Dave Filoni's section in the Disney: Gallery about The Mandalorian, you get to see his unmitigated love for Star Wars. Filoni & Favreau NEED to be in charge of ALL THINGS Star Wars moving forward.
Ok, I'll give arguing with you on it a go. To me the Finale felt wasted a 24 minute episode in which 20 of those minutes are completely focused on Ahsoka and Rex trying to escape the star destroyer, and nothing else. The the remaining 4 minutes are the burial scene and the Vader scene, which is easily the most perfect way to end the show. However I can't get over the fact that not much happend in the final episode for the most part. We know that they both survive order 66 because of Rebels. So WHY have nearly the entire episode be about them trying to escape a ship that they already started trying to escape halfway in to the previous episode. Now don't get me wrong I LOVE Clone Wars, and as I say the final two scenes are so full of emotion that it is insane. However I just feel as though they could have done much more with the time they had.
RGerrard12 just because we know they survived in Rebels doesn’t mean this shouldn’t stand on its own. Imagine if it was only a 5 minute escape scene with little conflict. How lackluster would that be? I’d feel cheated personally
I started watching clone wars with my dad when it first came out and then stopped watching when he passed away in 2010. I was catching up and finished the series and I just cried. It was so good and I really wish my dad could’ve seen it!!
Now you can rest easy on the fact that the show you and your dad enjoyed, is now immortalised as some of, if not the best Star Wars content ever and enchanced an entire trilogy, if not a saga. And so, the memory of your father is tied to that in your mind. How beautiful.

@@metallicnole4514 that would be pointless. It focuses on Ashoka who appeared way back in 2008. The entire show is great so not sure why you wouldn't want to watch it all.
Calling the Order 66 episode Shattered was hella appropriate. I also really love how bittersweet Anakin and Ahsoka's reunion was. Damn it puts their saber fight in Rebels in a new light. I didn't think my heart could hurt more than it did seeing Rex, freaking REX try to hold off that order "Find him, Fives, find him, find him FIVES!" Then the next episode happened and Rex CRIES and OH MY GOD the last 10 minutes just sheer fuckin silence-no words spoken yet it says literally everything that's needed to be said. And THAT is the power of animation-a single frame of animation can say everything. What a way to end.
I think they do show Rex under order 66 to show clones were completely powerless against it. Which makes sense, Palpatine would have taken clones' loyalty to jedi into account and ensured it didn't get in the way.
Agreed, if Rex who was independent and free willed couldn’t beat it nobody could. And that would have counted fives and kix (If around) who knew what the chip did and were afraid of it and even the bad bach who are even more independent then Rex, that’s absolutely horrifying. Now my quest is how did gregor and wolf not do the hit as well. Their strong cherictors but their not that strong
I simply loved what they did with Maul in this season. He's like this damaged war veteran, who starts to realize the terror that's about to happen. He's haunted, sure, he's still a villain, but's so much tragic and terryfied. The way he speaks "Darth Sidious" is just amazing. You can really tell how much he's scared of his former master.
Everyone: “Star Wars is at an all time low. Disney’s movies are garbage, the sequels suck and ruined the OT, and EA controls the video games. There is no way Star Wars can recover and come out with anything good.” John Favreau and Dave Filoni: “Hold our beers and watch this!” *Gives us The Mandalorian and Clone Wars season 7*
Trandoshans for sport, clones for a bombing, clones for Order 66 ... must be Tuesday for Ahsoka Tano if she's being hunted. At least Rex was able to give her a heads-up this time.
@@mattlee7463 Shrug. Anakin surviving his de-limbing and being burned alive is plot armor, just like Maul, Rex, and Ahsoka had to survive. I wasn't fussed because the only times she's been shot before (that I recall), was when she was protecting Padme and when she was trying to lift Steela. She's done this from her first day as Anakin's Padawan and is so good at shot blocking, we've seen her redirect fire from two shots, with one saber swipe, back into both shooters on Zygerria. She's an ex-Jedi, she's always been fast, she's got two blades, was alerted by Rex, and she's a Togruta, so she knows where everyone in that room is and what they're doing, even without the Force. I didn't find it particularly unbelievable, especially as she started taking damage and slowing down; then they managed to tag her at least five times throughout her escape. I appreciated that they actually managed to hurt her and if the ship wasn't crashing, they'd have had her I think.
THE REASON why Ahsoka got through Order 66, while Ki Ad-Mundi was overwhelmed is simple. Ahsoka had a lot of experience with clones turning on her! In the Genosis arc, the clones--infected with mind-controlling worms--tried to kill Ahsoka and Barriss. Again in Season 5, Ahsoka was framed as a traitor for bombing the Jedi temple, and the clones were hunting her down. That's my explanation for it at least.
I like that Rex intervening essentially gave Ashoka a moment to prepare for the attack. And she had a position on the ship where she could get away from the initial ambush, much as Yoda did. (And baby Kanan for that matter). The Jedi in more exposed positions got screwed. As for Obi-Wan, he is just too good to be killed like that!
So there are actually nuances to Ahsoka's style of lightsaber combat (based on the extended lore) that can provide an in-universe explanation to her combat performance in these scenes. That being said, I do think it is still *bad visual storytelling*, because (like Jeremy said) it looks like she should be a fish in a barrel, and most viewers aren't going to have the extended lore knowledge to recognize the in-universe nuances that explains these scenes. And of course, XXIVVIXCIII is right to point out that she had to make it to Rebels, and The Mandalorian.
They took an animated show and with character development, good writing, knowing Star Wars lore and themes made 4 episodes 10X more emotional than 3 films that were supposed to close out 40 yrs of a saga. Thats awesome but sad.
john poulton With 8 bad episodes before... just saying. The last 4 episodes were truly great, yes, but I think the Season as a whole wasted a lot of time.
Alex Ayala Its not disney putting it in the right hands. Dave Filoni already was attached to clone wars so they couldn’t replace him, the only thing they did right so far is Rogue One and giving the Mandolorian to Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau.
@@danield.8233 Why? I felt it was a one episode (two max) stretched out way to thin, with the most cliché possey of "outsiders" I have seen in a long time. The dialouge was mostly pretty generic, with exclamations from the possey trying to act cool, and introducing that the enemy side now can hack into the minds of people causes a lot of problems lore wise. I also felt the episodes had a questionable moral lesson to it as well. they force a village into a conflict they don't want, gets most of said village killed without suffering any losses themselves and gets hailed as some sort of heroes for it. All in all mediocre at best and a complete waste of time, you could skip it and not miss anything in the last 4 episodes.
@@ReeceJCurtis yeah most of the time the Master apprentice relationship is more akin to parent child initially and often becomes more sibling like once the Padawan is old enough and advanced enough. You really see that with Anakin and Obi Wan, but especially with Anakin and Ashoka.
@@ReeceJCurtis Kind of? There's a season 3 episode where he & Padme discuss what he's teaching her and they do feel like parents talking about their child. One of those sad what could have been moments.
One thing is absolutely clear. Ahsoka Tano has grown up to become one of the best characters in Star Wars, my favorite female Jedi after Satele Shan and probably my favorite Prequel character. I grew up seeing her on Christophsis for the first time and from then on up to Season 3 I thought she's just a Padawan for Anakin but as Season 4 and Season 5 came along and then Season 7 I knew she would be destined for something greater. I really can't wait for Ahsoka to appear on Season 2 of The Mandalorian.
I feel like in the past few years with things like this final season of CW and Into the Spider-verse and the continuing growing popularity of anime in western society that animation has finally risen above the “anything animated is for kids” misconception and it’s great to see, the future of animated content is bright
To be fair most the anime that seems popular in the West is pretty squarely aimed at teenage boys. I'm well aware other stuff exists but I don't think it it doesn't much to help the reputation of animation as something that can tell serious stories. And yes I think you can have serious stories and still be enjoyed by kids and teenagers but most anime over here isn't that.
The clone wars is my favorite animation of all time. The adult swim animations are fun and dark too, but not the serious type of dark it has a humorous kind. There are other animations that are dark seriously rather than humorously. But that is where I am biased with Clone Wars, its Star Wars haha. Even if it was not star wars though, I would love it just as much
He certainly made some pretty good stories. Shame he didn't care more about continuity. That is my biggest problem with the show. He trampled on the works of some other creators.
Ham Burglar but atp with Disney erroneously throwing out the EU amd all the deleted scenes, video games, and new Disney comics/shows tf even is canon anymore Don’t act we don’t cherry pick what is canon to us.
@@MarkyMark1221 I just think that Filoni should have shown a bit more respect to the works of the creators before him. The Clone Wars and the EU should be able to thrive, side by side, but unfortunately, they don't completely.
That end scene with Rex, finished me. Just binged all 6 seasons before jumping into the last, the main thing I came away with was that the clone get shit on by everyone. The Jedi treat them as disposable, losing entire ships just to save one Jedi. By the end I kinda felt like the Jedi deserved order 66.
My thoughts of Season 7 1) Ahsoka is the greatest Star Wars character of all time and I don’t know who’s gonna disagree with that 2) Sam Witwer as Maul is fucking TERRIFIC and probably some of the best acting (even if it’s voice acting) in the entire series 3) The Bad Batch arc was an interesting start, the arc with Trace and Rafa were absolute crap 4) The Siege of Mandalore arc is the single BEST Star Wars content we have ever gotten 5) They turned Maul from a one dimensional Sith Lord into one of the absolute greatest villains Star Wars has ever seen
Well Sam is face capture and motion capture as well for this series so he basically acted everything. That's why the way maul moves looked so natural was because he did all the motions for him
I’m not lying when I say I always enjoyed the prequels they have some badass moments my only complaint was the dialogue and the fact that every movie seemed so far apart from one another I wanted more clones, I wanted to see these relationships between Jedis and there clone brothers to make the turn even more impactful I wanted to see anakin be the badass he’s portrayed to be and this show did that and sooooo much more I’m so grateful I got to see this show it makes star wars as a whole so much better 🙏💯
Star Wars is all about the in-between. The stories in shows, games, and books make Star Wars. The movies just create a broad storyline that allow for a lot of in between work
Grizzly Fett thanks man. im a huge Star Wars fan, and as time goes on, I realize that if shows like the clone wars didn’t exist, Star Wars would be a shell of what it is now. The movies are good. But they are a primer for the real paint, if that makes any sense
Rex: from birth brainwashed into an order, realizing his brothers are now the enemy...due to an implant, its not their fault, and he has to kill them: remorse, tears, sadness, fear, regret.. Finn: from childhood brainwashed into an order, realizing his brothers are now the enemy...."WOOOOOOOOOO!!!! YEAH GOT ONE!!" Sindulla: WAY BETTER than Poe Ahsoka: WAY BETTER than Rey Rex: WAY BETTER than Finn Clone Wars and Rebels make the new trilogy a sorry waste of money and completely ruin childhoods.
To be fair, Rex is the commanding officer of the troops trying to kill him and fought with some of them for years. Finn didn’t really know any of the troops he was fighting as he was only in combat once and decided to desert the First Order.
I finished watching Clone Wars for the first time yesterday and when the clones turned on Ahsoka and Rex got all teary eyed I got teary eyed too. That whole part was done so well. Now I'm starting Rebels to get ready for the upcoming Ahsoka show.
Completely disagree theres like 20 unfinished episodes they had it would make the show even better if they make them we'll get to see a cad bane boba fett western movie showdown arc, how darth maul escaped when he was captured by palpatine , an arc about ventress and Quinlan vos trying to assassinate douku and an arc about obi wan and anakin on utapau where they discuss ashoka leaving the order. All of these arcs sound amazing it would make the clone wars and prequel era that much richer
I find the thing I loved most about this season is the subtle parallels in how Ahsoka and Maul are the perfect embodiment of an angel and demon in Star Wars. Their actions alone hint this throughout their seperate journeys and how they eventually become one as they're forced to survive a nightmare caused by their respective masters. The most profound thing for me though was when Ahsoka was playing hop scotch off ships while leading her men to 'liberate' Mandalore. On its own it was badass but the more I thought about it the more I felt it played into the whole 'Guardian Angel' vibe Ahsoka had during these last few episodes. She wanted to protect everyone no matter what yet she was ultimately a fallen angel in the end as heaven itself rejected her while her chariot of victory, the Venator, fell to its doom and with it everything she fought for was meaningless.
Clone Wars validates the Prequels by fleshing out themes that were established but that George didn't have time to really drive home. A show attempting to validate the Sequels would have to literally establish and flesh out all aspects. While Clone Wars had to add a few dishes and sprinkle some garnish on the Prequel meal, a Sequel show would have to cook every dish from scratch.
Clone wars added more than garnish. But I agree. Whereas Clone Wars had to make Anakin like able and show us a big ass war, a sequels show would have to make characters and wouldn’t have the same creative framework to be built around.
I'd almost be ok with Dave Filoni rebooting the prequels as an animated movies with clone wars and the trilogy mash up. I find the story would make so much more sense
"'I don't want to watch anything that might validate or legitimize the prequels!' Like I said small minded shit" Tell the guys at RedLetterMedia & Mr. Plinkett this. They utterly REFUSE to watch Clone Wars because they tore apart the prequels harder than anyone & their only excuse is "I don't watch CARTOONS!" I think we all know the real reason.
As cinema wins have said in his rogue one video: “Yes, I guess I’m a fanboy but so are they (referring to redlettermedia). They’re just original trilogy fanboys... refuse to acknowledge a movie made by a team... longs for one man struggling to make a film (George Lucas in 1977)...”
RLM got famous for trashing the prequels, but that was admittedly a long time ago now. A lot has changed. Many of their criticisms were valid, but the flaws of the prequels do pale in comparison to the sequels. Most people seem to appreciate that era more now, and Clone Wars is a huge reason why. I'd love for them to give Clone Wars a chance, but animation just isn't their thing. They've never once reviewed an animated film, and have barely done any kid friendly films. They did review Mandolorian, so hopefully they finally cave and watch Clone Wars. They'll really be missing out if they don't .
It’s funny how a cartoon show get more praised than the sequel movies, really amazing how Dave Filoni gave a conclusion to the show with the lead up to Revenge of the Sith
My thoughts personally: the season should have just been the last 4 episodes, but also I’m kinda annoyed with the massive cliffhanger at the end of season 6
Colin Akers Akers I feel like Season 6 proved that the Jedi are really, really dumb. With everything they learn about the clones, about the war, about Dooku and Sidious... they straight up deserved to bumble into Order 66 for not putting those pieces together.
awquinn1201 yeah I guess they needed to make out like they had a plan to deal with it but it came around to quickly. I guess they did start to pick on palpatine but that’s it really.
The whole Order 66 scene with Ob-Wan definitely hurts now when I re-watch the movie and remember the great banter and relationship between him and his troops, but I know that is definitely because TCW built up Cody as a character, 212th as a whole, and those interactions. So I definitely agree with your statement about how TCW elevated the prequels and fleshed out what was originally there
Felt the same. I always got emotional with order 66, still do, but TCW definately brought it home and I'm heartbroken when Cody so easily just gives the order to kill Obi-wan
@@GeorgeChacon2112 I think the thing with Cody, while he respects Obi-Wan and is friendly with him, he is a very clear cut guy. Like, he gets the order and thinks "this sucks, I respect Obi-Wan as a general but if the jedi are traitors then I have no choice." He's not one to question orders.
@@PetelliusCerialis You see, that's why I love the inhibitor chips, because I'm not inclined to believe that every single clone would follow that order. Sure, a newer clone with no connection would, but Cody, who'd been serving with Obi-Wan since the beginning of the war? Clear-cut or not, he's not stupid, and could plainly see Obi-Wan hadn't done anything.
Devin Dalton exactly. The chip is important for insurance, because I don’t see a 3 year veteran clone trooper NOT question an order as drastic as “Kill Obi Wan Kenobi” when Obi Wan Kenobi puts his life on the line beside them for the same cause every day of the week.
@@devindalton4688 Rex himself is a clear example of this-HE'S CRYING as he tries to fight off this order but he eventually succumbs to it himself and after the chip is removed tries to talk Jesse down from it-Jesse hesitates then falls into the "good soldiers follow orders" mindset. Not every clone was ok with order 66 when it happen so the chip being there I really love as well-gotta have insurance on your grand master plan to wipe out the jedi...even if it is heartbreaking for us viewers.
It's crazy to me that when this show started I was in middle school, and now I'm 6 years removed from high school at this point. And yet here we are talking about the show in positive light, unlike most others that have lasted this long (or at least in the public eye.) Most new seasons of a dead show don't really seem to recapture what made the origins so great, but when I saw a few of these newer episodes, it looked just like lost movies of the Star Wars universe. I liked pretty much every character on screen. And considering that when the show first started, I thought the animation was pretty robotic but serviceable, and I didn't really care about Ahsoka (with a big pack of the fanbase outright hating her in the beginning.) Now people find her as one of one of the best characters in not just the show but the entire franchise, and the animation looks movie quality. This show definitely aged like fine wine. And you can tell by the writing that it was written by people who actually care about Star Wars and did their homework, all while expanding on the canon and lore they were given. This show will live on as an example of how to do a beloved franchise spin-off justice. And that ending scene. *chills* I hadn't seen the Clone Wars in years, but that ending gave me chills.
The thing is, these episodes were (mostly) voiced and pre-visualised (check those unfinished episodes of The Bad Batch and Crystal Crisis on Utapau) when Disney pulled the plug originally, is what I understood from past Star Wars Celebrations. The Siege of Mandalore is probably the only part of the season which had the most new work done on. It's kind of weird they didn't also finish Crystal Crisis on Utapau, as it's basically ready to go, it just needs rendering. Regarding Son of Dathomir and Dark Disciple, I think they didn't touch those because the former has been adapted into the last remaining canon Dark Horse Star Wars comic and the latter was adapted into a novel. While we are good with Maul's short "you guys got me out of prison" line regarding Son of Dathomir, Dark Disciple would have been nice if they could have done that, as it finishes Asajj Ventres's story.
Excellent review of all the Star Wars content Jeremy Jahns! Your work on reviewing all Star Wars content is unprecedented and I’am a huge fan of how you review Star Wars content in general! You do a phenomenal job!
I wanna give perspective as to how I saw this show as well, I was 8 when the first season aired on Cartoon Network I was living in a shitty apt cause that’s all my parents could afford at the time but every Saturday morning or Friday morning I was there to watch Star Wars the clone wars now 12 years later I have a job I’m in college and I just finished it what a journey this series is what made me get into Star Wars and I will forever be grateful to it
Those last 4 episodes where AMAZING the story, the music, the animation, the drama the stakes the heart it was all there. Omfg the final shots snow troopers you know it’s coming then final Vader, picks up the saber you can just barely see Anakins eyes ignites and mourns Ahsoka, so many moments escaping the Star Destroyer intense ....bad batch was not bad, middle four so prolonged though
That lightsaber fight and ending was beautiful. I love this show. I grew up with this show. I grew up with Ahsoka, Rex, all of it. I felt like I was learning the ways of the Force with this show, ya know?
I know it will never ever happen, but I would give an arm and a leg for Disney to take the sequel trilogy out of canon and just have Dave Filoni make an animated series set 30 years after ROTJ and do it right this time. And I'm 99% sure they could get Mark Hamill back to voice Luke and finally do justice to his character.
Ethen Millard It would never happen, but I know Filoni would be great at fixing what the Sequel Trilogy is mainly because he can reel in George and know what to keep and axe. That’s why Filoni didn’t do more episodes for the last season, he didn’t feel comfortable fleshing out the rest of the episodes by himself
@@KingofKnowhere it still baffles me why he didn't just get Lucas on to help him. Then they could have done more. I mean they brought George on as a creative consultant for Mandalorian, why not here?
@@Skymoc4 they didn't want George. He actually had ideas and wrote a script to help them get started, they promised him he would have a big role in the making of the sequel trilogy. However it was only spoken and not in the contract he signed, so they dropped him immediately and didn't want to use his ideas. So they could make their own story in line with their agenda. Well we all know how that turned out.
The final four episodes were phenomenal. The music, emotion, animation, story, action, every aspect. The moment when we knew order 66 was going to happen and there was the quiet build up gave me chills it was amazing. I completely agree with that the final four is the best Star Wars movie in years since rouge one in 2016.
There was a 4 episode bounty hunter arc with all major bounty hunters we had seen showing death of cad bane There was an arc of ventress and quinlan vos turning to dark side like in legends under dooku and then redeeming himself which is now in dark disciple comic And yea definitely more seasons too
I think it’d be cool to see you do a longer video where you do an analysis/deep-dive/review of the overall Skywalker story arc (including CW and Rebels). Speaking on each of the films in relation to some of the expanded stuff
