Man it definitely is. I actually don't know what I would do without them since I picked up SC2 5 days ago and everything I know comes from the B2GM Terran
What I love about this series is that he sets the foundation and then focuses on concepts. As someone who is thinking about getting back into SC2 this makes very encouraged, because he's not doing anything crazy. Just efficient play.
These series are truly godsends for newbies. Being a 90's Korean baby, there always has been the attraction to SC, each attempt met with confusion, overwhelm, and inevitable brutal annihilation. Love your analogies that a beginner should focus on learning to move the basic muscles before further sophistication. Just one my first SC2 multiplayer match ever in my life, following just the initial build order!
What an amazing guide for a returning player, haven't played for 3 years and I am willing to come back to the most competitive & difficult 1v1 game. Thanks for making this gift to the community PiG!! P.S You are also an AMAZING caster!!!
I don't play Starcraft anymore, I never played multiplayer but these series are really interesting and have made me consider getting into Starcraft Multiplayer.
Watched this B2GM, was stuck in Plat 1 with the Vibe B2GM from last year, didn't play much in the last months and was moving down to 2600 MMR. But with just this episode I've gotten very much in the pace of things and won a bunch of games
I don't watch a lot of starcraft and haven't played it for 2 years but few days ago me and my friend tried returning to sc2. He plays zerg and we were watching your zerg Bronze to Gm series. I thought: "It would be nice if PiG made series for protoss so i could follow it". And there it is, thank you very much.
whats great about this video is that it shows the simplicity in pro gamers thought patterns that allow efficient decision making that comes from deep understanding
i havent played a game of sc2 in like 5-7 years (didnt get very far when i did try) I've watched about 5 of these videos so far and its giving me the confidence to actually reinstall and give it another go :)
I played starcraft when I was 13 for a year sucked so bad and barely got better so I quit. Just getting back into it and this channel is a gold mine. So happy I found it
PiG love the content and style. I started with Vibe but I've always wanted to take the fight to my opponent and I really appreciate the aggressive approach - don't just sit in your corner! Made it to Plat with zerg especially on the strength of the ZvZ baneling opening. Also improved with Terran to Gold 1 and now taking in this great toss content - keep it up bro!
dude, without you i would be still warping in like a grandma and wouldnt have a clue of camera lock, build order, unit selection, controllklick!, thank you appreciate it
Pig I just want to say I've watched many B2GM and by many I mean one and I gotta say I gave up right away. I just wasn't able to grasp what they was saying. But the way you explain things is fantastic honestly a great teacher. I hope you do more of these in the future not B2GM per say but just guides or certain build tutorials or w/e anyway Thanks for the effort you put into these 3 b2gm series!!!
It"s been 1 decade and 3 years since I played SC2 and your video wich is the first vid. I saw in your channel inspired me to play again.💕🤗 First Game: 17:27, 38 Probes, 10 Gates, charge ability(Zealot), 2-Base, 29 Zealots, 2 Immortals, 5 Archons, 4 Stalkers,1 Warp prism and 10 + 10 more Zealots warping in(total of 49 Zealots). I don't know if this is a good start but I did my best on my first game and I'm actually happy about it😂. Thanks Pig!🐷
I'm back on Starcraft II in 2023. Until HotS I was Gold and this series is very useful for me to remeber how to play. Thank your very much. Uhn dara ma'nakai
I haven't been on Twitch in a while but I just threw you an offline sub in appreciation. I don't even play SC2 these days but I still look forward to the killer content you continue to put out. Thanks for what you do, and best wishes to you and Dot.
After 10 days of starcraft and rewatching this video 10+ times i can finally move onto video 2 Thank you Currently losing to very hard bots w this strat, they tend to have 3 bases by my bench mark and a lot of workers over me, sometimes I accidentally walk too far into enemy terrirtory before successfully using archons so there’s a fault in that or i lose bc i am expanding while attacking and half my army is afk and half is fighting 😂 once again Thank you for your knowledge i feel like i am graduating
Really appreciate this. I've just gotten back into SC2 and although the campaigns are fun ive never been able to play well online. This teached me a lot of the basics that can help make the losses learning experiences.
I am learning a lot, I am actually learning against IA to properly start the game with your order, and its getting better and better. Thank you very much.
@@mateusds909 I am able now to win against the max difficulty IA. But now changed to core settings and it's like starting again. But I am feeling the potential. I really like how he explains and the steps to take.
Your way of thinking is very applicable to all things outside of star craft. very good teachings both in game and outside of. Thank you for showing these fundamentals. Awesome teacher :D
I'm recently trying to get back into starcraft since launch (yes its been a while) used to play zerg (not well at all) switching to protoss and just seeing that first game seeing how simple and easy it is for you how calm you are definitely helped me realize it's just much for now eventually you'll be as calm and cool as this guy when it comes to macroing. Thanks for still making starcraft content. Bring back the RTS genre
yeah once that muscle memory starts to settle it feels really good and natural to play. It's definitely hard when improving, but once those skills are learnt it's a great feeling
These guides have finally given me the confidence to actually play melee maps after years of Custom games starting back in Brood War days…these guides are so appreciated, PiG 🐷
Following the build order for Zerg and actually playing multiplayer.. I was hard stuck silver years ago. Put the game down. Came back MMR has me placed in plat. Love your guides pig. Really improved my play after such a long hiatus from this game
This is a fantastic series. I haven’t played in years and am just getting back into the game. Thank you for making such fantastic content and continuing to contribute to the best game ever made. I truly miss the glory days of team houses, celebrity status players, and staying up all night to watch the GSL. Hopefully the game is still alive and well - despite mobas knocking it out of the limelight ;(
SC2 might not be the top dog, but the community and playerbase has held strong for 12 years! Think of how many games get massive and then fizzle out, we're NOT going anywhere :)
@@PiGCoaching I'm actually an american living / working in Asia - so I'm playing on the korean server with 30 ping. Do you think that server is still active enough to merit the time required to get back into the game and enjoy it at a decent level? I'd love to get back to diamond (where I was in WOL / HOTS). Also I'm using a bit of a modified version of The Core Lite :)
Dude, I haven't played this in years. They've new units and stuff. I got STOMPED when I started again. Watched your videos.... I'd love to show you my match history
I told a fella go to easy on me as it was my 2nd ever ladder match (played co-op and campaign only until now) and his reaction was "Huh... Never heard that one before". After he crushed me he referred me to your guides and we had some nice chit-chat. Unfortunately I promptly ignored and after being beat down in 4 placement matches I watched through the first 40 minutes + the keybind tutorial. (Although I've always had my building structures on keybind 3 and 4 so this feels SUPER awkward). Must have helped because I got placed in Gold 3? (Granted this is NA, take it with a grain of salt). One downside is because I only watched the first 40 minutes I only know to build stalker/immortal/archon. I've yet to build a stargate unit. All that being said: Thanks for the guide PiG!
Glad your opponent gave you a good resource! Don't actually need Stargate units; I played this build (but 8 gates and with +1 attack) vs all races and got to diamond
That point you make at 1:24:00 is so true. I was amazed when I went in with a Roach attack, saw Battlecruisers, and I just said, “whatever I’ll commit.” I completely destroyed their economy and Battlecruisers SUCK against Roaches. If you commit, just commit. React later. Such a great lesson.
Thank you for the videos I literally started playing today and I had to look up guides because I keep getting stomped every game. I don't plan to play competitively but hopeful I'll be able to at least win games thanks to you ^^
This has been good. I got into SC2 multiplayer for the first time (played lots of single player stuff though), practiced this build order some against A.I. first and then went into ladder. 5 games later I haven't lost yet just sticking to this build, barely adapting to my opponent's gameplan or having any idea what to expect when I noticed something weird with their build. Early zerglings in my mineral lines due to a late stalker, battle cruiser killing every worker in my main without me even noticing, widow mine drop into my main and me without detection nearby - none of it mattered, because I just kept going, stuck with the build and attacked when my infrastructure was ready even if my economy was struck badly, and somehow still always had more stuff than my opponent when I attacked. Ladder anxiety was definitely a thing I have struggled with, and it's probably kept me from giving multiplayer a shot in the past, but having a simple build in mind that I knew I'd stick with no matter what happened kinda took all the stress away. I hope things stay that way when I inevitably start losing.
Just went back and watched the part of the Terran video that you linked in the document... DUDE that is useful!!! I just setup all of my hotkeys... CANT WAIT TO TRY THEM!!! Gotta finish this video first tho... :D
Nine minutes in I couldn't quite believe you're actually teaching people to Artosis Pylon)) But that's an interesting inverted way to deal with the problem I've never thought of before
I'd been using a slightly different way for rapid fire warpins, so I'm gonna try this one out and see how it goes! It feels a bit better than the old one. This guide is really excellent too, it covers so many fundamentals that will be useful at higher levels for sure. I'm the sort of player who hovers around platinum whenever I come back to the game and I'm finding that this is SO helpful, so I'm looking through the bronze, silver and gold videos too to see what basics I can improve on. Thanks for making this!
Third time's a charm! You've mastered your explanations while playing in the intro to the series. Best yet. Not sure if you made the changes due to feedback or you just critiqued yourself on the other two, but you're definitely remarkable in this one. Only someone with the true heart of a teacher would have taken the time to improve as you've done! And don't get me wrong, I loved your fist two! I'm a nearly 50yo professional who loves Starcraft(just gaming), and I have college-aged kid and nephew who game with me from time to time. Tired of getting my ass kicked by the young bucks, I watched your Zerg and Terran start to finish. Sheesh, what an improvement I've made from your help! You earned my Twitch sub dude. I hope you wind up making good money from this! #Respects
Thank You for a great video. I learn a lot from it. If I may, I have a small suggestion. If You are asked about something that You cover earlier in other series, like what is a stutter step or what is group stealing, please give them a link to the video instead of explaining this once more. Once again thank You for a great educational content. For me You are the best StarCraft II "teacher" 😉
Not sure if you read it on a 2 month old video, but just to explain the big questionmark you have next to the additional 2 gates at around 33 supply. Additional gates should be built when warpgate research is about half way done (54/100) because then the gates finish at the same time as warpgate (gate build takes 46 seconds) and you can make a big warp-in right away :) I am looking forwards to watch the whole B2GM series, started here since I am mainly playing toss, but I plan to learn other races as well :D
Now im in platinum 3 and I dont know how to respond for 2 medivacs with Full marin army, they land in 5minut and I have only 6 stalkers i cant Win this game :(
I'm back into SC2 after 5 years xd gonna try not to stop playing because of getting too mad :p thanks for this series, I've never actually tried to get muscle memory in this game.
From Zerg b2gm and Terran, and now protoss... Feels like learning to drive stick. Bronze ~ silver is all about operating the clutch and switching gears. Gold would be driving regulations? Past master feels like learning to race, left foot breaking, heel n toe'ing, drifting... Nah, drifting would probably be Harstem's "beating gm with stupid stuff" 😂
Used your build make my placement matches for the first time since 2015(never really laddered though). After 3 wins I literally got placed in low plat, because I whooped a Dia Terran who didn't know what scouting is lol. Probably gonna lose a lot from now on. :D
Thanks man, big help I will be practicing my setup/start-up against AI once I feel I got it down I will take it to standard, then ranked. Luckily I got some experience with other RTS IP so I think I can become well-rounded fast due to my fundamentals.
I love some of the ideas here, it just feels like an incredibly messy build order for anyone who's actually bronze (as someone who took a year break after getting to low Plat). Lots of stopping points and twists and turns in production.
Gotta start somewhere! Don't need to be perfect but if we can start heading in this direction and trying to fill out this shopping list: 2-bases of workers, 8-gates, robo, charge, then just make army and go for a big attack we can be really focused in improving our macro and the timing of our attack
After watching this video or one of his others I was confident I could do what he was suggesting you do. I was defeated by his tactics in 6 minutes.....someone else watched the video first and got it down to a fine art lol
Hey this build order works really well against A.I. even "Elite" A.I. But vs human players at my little rank, I haven't made it work once. Protoss do early Oracles who can destroy 8 probes in a few seconds, Zerg do early rush and/or mass roach. Terrans do early drops and it just destroys everything in this eco BO.
You can add rapid fire on separate key let's say R, on Common-Unit-Add additional or AI... , and then use it by clicking your ability once and then shift-R to rapid fire it. So you have complete control over what you want to do. single fire or rapid fire
I think you should limit the amount of information you pass to a beginner. It's very easy to get lost in the series, as you do and explain a lot in just the first 10 minutes. The idea for improvement on the next b2gm: try explaining not more than one or two core concepts per game and do multiple repetitions. Sometimes less is more when you teach beginners. If they try to copy you on multiple levels, they'll quickly fall. If they just try to copy you on 1-2 things and only learn the third one, after they feel comfortable, they'll improve. Huge thanks for the series, always good to see more tutoring content from you!
Trying to execute this build on ladder after a dozen or so practice runs vs AI - 1st game out of my 2nd round of placements (silver 2) I instalose to cannonrush. Fine, whatever, no issue, gotta learn how to defend better. Second game PvP I see my opp starts with an expand, and I get my obs into his base just as he's putting down 7 WG. 2 mins later, the push I was expecting comes, I say gg and ask - BG2M build. My opponent replies - yeah, piggin. I'm like well gee, that's great :D
I installed Starcraft yesterday (had little experience with II, played a bit of SC1 vs my dad when I was 10, so about 13 years ago), played a few 2v2s with a friend, got fucked. Watched this guide, noted down the build order, played 1v1's - well, I still get fucked, but way more gently XD And I got S2 after my placements :D
RTS has a physical speed element, and if you're useless at that, like a person who's incapable of walking trying to play football, it won't matter how good your strategy is, you'll still be incapable of doing anything. Once you move up the ranks you can engage in the strategy on a much higher level
