They missed the opportunity to have the Statue of Liberty like the planet of the apes

They missed an opportunity to have just the top of the skyscrapers sticking out of the ground. You can enter at the top and venture down deep into the building. A secret dungeon with old earth loot at the bottom. The fact that there is not much to explore on the planet everyone is going to visit.

I will say, The pyramids look good, But the buildings look so out of place, Like Im sure there would be ruins of the city around the buildings themselves not just rolling sand dunes. Also dont like the fact that all the terrain is flat, Doesn't matter if you are in Nepal the Scottish highlands or the Mariana trench, Just flat. feel like they really could have let their creative side out with Earth.

Disappointed there isn't any missions revolving around Earth. Like collecting artifacts for a museum.

I cant wait for the mods in the future, im sure they gonna fill up this place sooner or later

It makes no sense to have some buildings standing so intact while all the rest went down to pure sand.

Crazy to see the most ancient human landmarks still persist after everything else is gone.

There are sevreal other landmarks that can be found: St Louis Gateway Arch, US bank tower in LA, Shanghai Tower, International Commerce Center in Hong Kong, Dubai Tower, and Abeno Harukas in Osaka

I was pretty bummed with how empty Earth was. I was hoping to go there and find reminents of humanity and maybe some lore to the details of what happened on Earth

Kinda sad knowing earth probably looked like this at one point and will one day look like this again. Nothing is permanent.

The Shard is a weird choice...of all the iconic buildings in London they went for *that*? Not St Paul's Cathedral or Big Ben? Very strange choice.

Someone commented somewhere that they were disappointed that the people in Starfield left Earth and that there wasn't a mission dedicated to it. I'd also like to believe we would've tried to make it hospitable again somehow than completely abandon it.

They should have made the city ruins. Hell just grab some buildings from the fallout games. Hope there will be mods that add more to the game at some point.

As unrealistic as it is, it is nice to know you can find stuff and it’s not completely gone gone and empty. I get that it should be realistically in the game stand point but it’s a bit depressing ngl.

They should have made some more of Earth Ruins with quests in there. Maybe some people living there that cling on to earth above or underground. Quests Collecting special items or old space lore. Maybe DLC?

Would have been pretty fun if they just ended up showing above ground parking structures and giant warehouses

Right so a couple of famous landmarks survived but everything else is just desert. This looks lazy and really out of place having these buildings just kinda there surrounded by sand.

my guess as to why these are the only remaining structures is that humanity went to great lengths to preserve them for the magnetospheric collapse, as these are famous icons of humanities progress

The thing that really disappoints me is that things like Mt Everest and the Grand Canyon are absent. Even if earth was made uninhabitable the physical structure of both of those would easily remain

the skyscrapers do not have the right proportions. When you get close you can see how small they are compared to the character

Great Pyramid of Giza might stand for million of years in the future because it made of granite rocks, so it won't easily destroyed by an erosion from rain. Modern building like Empire State or The Shard didn't even exist anymore just for few thousand of years after humanity gone extinct.

I guess this was a development decision, but you'd expect to see pretty much all of Manhattan, London, Paris, LA and other areas still existing...if not in ruin. Though, I think they hit it with the pyramids.

They really missed out on putting eastereggs on earth. They could have made you go to the tomb of the pyramid and find a pharoh costume or something. Hell i wonder why they didnt put their office in the game

Honestly my favorite part of exploring earth was during the “Unearthed” quest

Earth should have been the most densely decorated planet as it’s not fictional, it’s the only planet that actually has a basis to be created from and all they did was put some skyscrapers and give us snow-globes, they should have done something like Oblivion. That was an awesome version of earth and more realistic too, to have canyons that are city streets and holes in roof tops leading down to areas below would be really cool as well, hey they could even add a sanctuary like oblivion has, a quiet place, overlooked by everyone but a place you can actually breath air etc… honestly the devs dropped the ball all around for star field

Doesn't make any sense, the game is set in 2200 something it would take millions of years for earth to get to that point after losing it's atmosphere and surely there wouldn't be a few skyscrapers here and there

According to game lore earth is only 150 or so years past apocalypse. There would be tons of debris from city's. Skyscrapers would be mostly still standing. Earth being a desert with occasional buildings is unrealistic.

Going to earth while playing Starfied This is what happen from million years later that human, plants, and animal extinct from that planets. Others maybe survive or escape from that disaster.

They should of put Bethesda headquarters in the game, completely undamaged and safe with workers in it, and finally at the top level a new follower named Todd Howard who’s super neat

I think the depiction of Earth in this game is both depressing and a pretty big cop-out. I’m loving the game so far but one of my criticisms of the setting has to be Earth. As people have mentioned, it’s ridiculous that in the span of about 200+ years, all of Earth, her cities, mountains, and other environments, have been reduced to one giant desert. And all signs of millennia of human habitation have been wiped away, except for a few buildings (which are conveniently notable landmarks). I think the decision to depict Earth as abandoned and ruined was to save Bethesda the dilemma of how to depict Earth. I’m sure they were wary of making Earth unable to be explored, as that would result in outcry from people online who would expect Bethesda to model all of Earth and be able to land anywhere. If I was making Starfield, I would make it so Earth is intact and still inhabited by billions of humans- but only allow the player to land on a certain area or areas. Like maybe have a geoengineered artificial island chain in international waters that acts as the capital of the United Colonies (or whatever organization would rule Earth in this story), or maybe have a small portion of a city that can be explored (like only the landing area and some nearby shops and buildings, make it the size of the MAST district in New Atlantis).
