I think it was stated in S8 canonically by RepliSam, that Daniel STILL possesses all the ascended knowledge he had, including the complete knowledge of the ancients - it's just buried DEEP in his memory. But, he's slowly unlocking it. So, it's possible one day, ole' Danny boy might finally recall a critical memory that would allow him to find data on the "potentia". Because that's the problem. The Tau'ri HAVE the full ancient database, but the ancients don't call the ZPM's.... ZPMs. In fact they are not catagorized as power units as all. The Tau'ri have no idea what the Ancient's called them. Until they know that, they have no idea what to search for, as the database is immense.
In theory, the Asgard Core would in theory be able to create one. Shame that they never use it for anything. I know the thing lights up to Ori ships, but at the same time, they're gone, later on.
@@kadindarklord Although the Asgard core can convert energy into matter, you would still have to somehow find the energy to convert it into that ZPM, if the transporters could even replicate that kind of complex subspace engineering to begin with.
The other problem is that the Ancients most likely deleted sensitive information from the Database as a precaution against the Wraith accessing the city once the shields died.
Unless the other Ascended Beings sent him back with a properly wiped memory since Oma did not do it. Additionally, you got Merlin's overwriting and wiping his brain which could easily take all the Ancient knowledge with it. As for the ZPM - Knowing the name means nothing. You think Atlantis had 5+ years to search that database backwards and forwards without trying anything related to ZPMs. The only way you get away with that is by very bad TV show writing.
Cruisers "Right guys, we're leaving to get more help, don't do anything stupid like fly right into the city, remember we're trying to take the city, not obliterate it" *5 seconds later* Dart pilots "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"
Selenka simulated the self-destruct and concluded it would not be *enough* to keep the tech and data out of wraith hands. I would gues the same applies to "ramming speed" This Kamikaze will disrupt any reason for humanity to there, leaving about the same debris. They were only humoring a ground invasion to get more tech, as Atlantis was not putting up a fight in space. It could even be that Kamikaze is SOP for Darts without Carriers or friendlies to defened from back in the war with the Ancients and they ran so fast, they forgot to override that.
@@hycron1234 Well, to be fair he was also surrounded by literal faceless goons. I would not expect much intelligence, if they can not even raise an eyebrow. The downside of going for "mass over class".
@@christopherg2347 Well what else would the darts do? haha They were essentially stranded in enemy territory. They wouldn't win against the Daedalus so it makes sense they would want to inflict as much damage to the city as possible especially since the city didn't have shields as far as they knew.
They didn't know about the shield. They were probably intent on transport and infiltration while causing as much damage as possible once their craft was on its own.
@@matthew8153 ... Um... Pushing it down IS what connects the contacts. They are on the bottom and they need to be touching. Thats why they're called "contacts". If he didn't push it down, then he didn't connect the contacts.
@@Dillsfawn If there are no contacts connected then why did it light up? Most likely pushing it down is a safety measure so it doesn’t just fall over while in use.
@@LordNecron Those kind of things are happening a lot even in reality. If you want it to work for like 2 minutes (enough to escape) it can probably be patched up in 2 minutes. If you need something to work consistently and reliably then yea, you need the real thing. Look at dragsters. Fastest cars in the world. They’re basically one time use. Or idiots that over use nitro in their car. Very fast for 15 seconds then you throw the engine out.
The engineer is lamenting how many hours of fine-tuning will be wasted when his machinery breaks - and how many more hours will be wasted getting it all fixed and fine-tuned again - because his commander wants to overburn past the redline for another one-time "emergency" use. The bridge crew can all high-five and sit back to compliment each other after the crisis but the engineers have to slave extra shifts for a long time to get everything working again before the next "emergency".
I think the delay before it went in was just the city configuring power distribution according to the power level of the new ZPM. Remember the city's supposed to run on 3 of them unlike the ancient outposts which only take 1.
Well at this point I believe he hasen't slept in about three days remember he was staying awake only because of stimulants given to him by Carson so he could build a nuclear bomb and not fall asleep.
Nah. Not at the speed that was stated. 10000 kilometres an hour. Even assuming the wraith darts are made of something that can withstand that kind of atmospheric friction(itself unrealistic considering wraith vessels are generally organic and less armored), the resulting atmospheric shockwaves and ignition trails would have been WAAAY more significant.
@@Dillsfawn I wasn't talking about the stated 10,000 km/hr I was talking about the CGI .. at 10,000km/hr you wouldn't see them they would be just a streak in the sky
@@xadam2dudex Thats what Im saying. It's not realistic CGI if it doesn't match what a 10000 km/hr object streaking through the sky would look like. It would otherwise look fine, but the stated speed of 10000 km/hr is a different situation than what the CGI showed.
It bugged me for so long trying to figure out where I knew that bridge officer's voice from, the one who keeps updating everyone. It's the voice of Miroku from Inuyasha.
Reading this for the first time and I find out he died three days ago: www.gateworld.net/news/2020/11/actor-kirby-morrow-stargate-daedalus-bridge-officer-dies-at-47/
Take a stab at The Expanse, it's like BSG combined with GoT. Honestly huge BSG fan but possible arguably better and possibly the best space opera to date
What if shield tech is real, what if it were just a matter of expanding the radius of a proton to that of a macroscopic scale so that the strong nuclear repulsion is communicated to any and all masses outside of the inflated proton radius whilst leaving any mass inside the inflated proton in free space. Changing and engineering the nucleonic structure of the proton to that of a inflated " hollow mega mass proton " constituting a effective shield
I used to be this way till I recently watched all 2 seasons of SG:U. It was fantastic. Sure, it is not like Atlantis or SG1 but that is in part what makes it amazing. It's a shame SG:U was also canceled. IMO SG:Universe was amazing as well. Watch it and you will see. It has excellent acting, plot and drama. It's really a shame because SG1 could've continued another 3-4 seasons, Atlantis another 5-6 and Universe easily another 4-5
@@fr9714 you're right, but only in the same way Last Jedi was a good movie. They are good, they just don't fit in with the Prefix Stargate and Star Wars, respectively. SGU was a great Sci-fi series, it just didn't really fit well with the Stargate moniker. And Last Jedi, take by itself is a good commentary on war and greed and how people react to tension in a situation, but it makes no sense in a Star Wars universe.
Imagine an alien trying to work a CD player. Puts the disk on the tray but doesn't press it in. Maybe he was looking for a button as Atlantis was a newer device.
Apparently the wraith queens got all pissed off that someone stood up to them. If word got out, their grip on the Pegasus galaxy could break. A kamikaze strike like this reeks of desperation.
Usul573 Well technically you're not wrong. The arrival of the Atlantis Expedition did trigger a Wraith Civil War because the Wraith had been awoken from their slumber way too early and their "herds" of human cattle hadn't replenished to sufficient numbers to feed all of them. They also had to contend with Atlantis, the only civilization advanced enough to put up a decent fight, and in later episodes the Wraith become so desperate that they have no choice but to align with Atlantis in order to survive against mutual foes such as the Asuran Replicators and Michael's Hybrids. I think the Wraith would end up losing the war regardless so some of the wiser/pessimistic queens probably wouldn't object to such desparate tactics to try and defeat Atlantis. And also considering Atlantis was responsible (directly and indirectly) for bringing the Asurans and Michael onto the galaxy...yeah the Wraith have tons of reasons to oppose Atlantis.
Well if you only build one set, you gotta make the most of it. A lot of action had to happen there so yea, the enemies come to them, they don’t go to them.
@@usul573 A kamikaze strike like this reeks of desperation. For humans. Who consider human life precious. But for an alien species with a large number of faceless, half-mindless warrior drones (and a constantly borderline overpopulation problem) it's not desperation, it's a logical tactic to force opponents into desperation.
Actually their position on the radar is just their horizontal position in relation to the city, in reality they were still well in orbit and diving by that point
can some one please tell me haw a zero point module can deplete as you take energy from zero point more energy replaces it according to teslsa moray and Hutchinson
@@nousername5673 Mobile Suit Gundam invented a whole new branch of particle physics to explain how their setting works. They invent one new particle, with very clearly defined properties, and everything flows logically from there. Minovsky physics / the Minovsky particle. Look it up. The irony is that ZPMs "fill up" with entropy until which collapses the pocket space-time inside, so from a very real standpoint, ZPMs start out "Empty" and "fill up" with Entropy, and then stop working.

Just love how McKay went from being written as a horrible character just to make SG1's Carter and others look good to being tweaked to being a hero on Atlantis. It was bad writing to having McKay be this way in SG1.
I decided to call Stargate Atlantis Rodneygate Atlantis. That is how poorly written that show was. Then, they had the brilliant idea of an interstellar ship equipped with a stargate and made matters even worse with their miserable writing. As far as I am concerned, they killed the Stargate series graveyard dead.
@Patrick McMahon In my opinion, it stank. When a show that once involved numerous characters, even a set of characters that are mostly rough edged, centers itself of a single character that is a king-sized asshole like Rodney, it turns into pure shit.
The problem is that the writers went back to using worn-out character and plot devices such as Mackay's constant whining and Rush's extreme narcissism. Stargate SG1 only used those devices on occasion. They didn't make those the main elements of the entire series. Jackson might have been a bit of a nerd, but he was a capable beefed-up nerd with a gun. And Carter only had to be told on occasion to tone down the technobabble.
