I’m in my 30s, in London, and a lot of my friends are single and have no kids. Most don’t own a home since it’s virtually impossible to as a single person in London. It seems like the age to settle down has shifted to mid 30s. Life has these periods where you need to slow down and reevaluate. Thanks for sharing this video!

Yeah I guess that time is now for me.. 30s will be my years haha! Yes it’s way to expensive to buy now that it no longer feels like an investment it feels like a ball and chain 😂

A lot of people keep saying that 30 is still young and while that may be true, the only thing I can contribute to this conversation is that while you're worrying about money, when you hit 30, time starts moving faster. I did whatever I wanted in my 20s and I will be forever grateful for those experiences but in learning and experiencing, I found my greatest joy in having purpose, which for me was having a career I enjoy and family to share my life with. And while that may not be for everyone, it took me a while to realize that mundane doesn't mean mediocre. I am 48 and am at a place that I don't have to worry about money as much as I used to. I have an average job and I love it. Is it my dream job? No, but I got to a point that contentment and gratitude was a far better place to aspire to be. I pray that for you and hope this helps.

Aww I’m glad you found your happiness! Yeah I’m not expecting an extravagant life but a life that makes me happy and content just haven’t found what that is for me just yet! Hopefully soon 🤞🏻

Great video. Believe it or not, being in a relationship these days is not keystone of happiness or success anymore. Specially when relationships became shallow and loveless. I’m in the same boat as you except I will be 26 and I live in the US. I got laid off last year and I’m still trying to find a job. Everything will be alright.

"Comparison is the thief of joy" - I think you've hit on a truth that many people spend their lives searching for. Finding a job that doesn't feel like work is a gift, and it sounds like working underwater in a tropical location would be exactly that! If loneliness is a concern, remember all the times you've traveled and made unexpected, amazing friends. There might be someone else out there heading to the same place, with the same worries, who could end up being your next best friend 😁 You've got this! Go for it and embrace the adventure.
@lifewithvicx

I LOVE THIS 🙌🏻 You are so right.. nothing is ever perfect but it’s what you make of it. I LOVED working underwater and yes it has it challenges but challenge is what creates the sense of happiness! Yes, I always have this.. anxiety of being lonely then when I put myself out there I end up surrounded by the best people! Thank you so much for your encouraging words 😊

Hey Vicx, I'm in a very similar position to you. Just spent a year in another country before moving back to the UK, and I'm now 32, no kids, single, unemployed. It's difficult. Don't feel pressure, our lives are only just beginning 💖. Don't compare yourself to others. You do what's right for you. xx

I really liked how honest this video is! Option 3 seems like the most reasonable and sustainable way. I'm sure you will find great success in e.g. the UK. I was recently told: "Jobs do not dictate your happiness, happiness dictates job success". I understood it as 'you will never find happiness through a job, but find what makes you happy and sustain that with a good job'.

If I could give you any advice (from personal experience) it would be not to chase a different reality. You haven't failed at all. If you are anything like me, at the first sign of feeling like a failure you have the propensity to do something drastic. (Travelling the world, moving abroad, totally re-training etc). More often than not, we take our problems with us. Instead of chasing a new environment, I have tried to focus on developing a new mentality and looking for the positive in my existing environment. I started developing video games (something I always wanted to do), bought a few beautiful cats and relaxed into a routine. Routine is often seen as a negative thing but I don't think that's the case. If you ever want to chat, feel free to reach out to me. I'm 35 now and have been on quite the journey. I think a big part of maturation is recognising that life isn't always perfect and the vast majority of our happiness, contentment and freedom is within our mentality and outlook. It took me a long time to learn that! Living as an expat can be extremely stressful and isn't something to be taken lightly. 😊. You seem like a lovely girl, whatever you do, I hope it works out for you.

I’m so happy that you have found your happy place and the things that fulfil your life. Yeah it doesn’t necessarily need to be a complex life but I know that travel, culture and exploring make me happy and being creative so I have to start putting those wheels in motion so thanks for your motivating words 🙌🏻

Hey JD, it was really interesting to read your comment. I know it wasn't addressed at me, but it sure felt like it. 😂 I definitely have the reflex of doing something drastic (more precisely exactly your 3 examples). Last year I told myself: No, stay where you are and learn how to be contempt with what you have. That still sounds like the wiser idea, however I haven't been particularly successful with it. Now, at 32, I'm thinking about retraining again. Or moving to another continent to "start over". I wonder if I will ever find a way out of this and it's cool to hear from someone who has been there. Cheers from Berlin

I'm 27F and also unemployed, I quit my job because I just couldn't do it anymore because of a chronic illness. That and it sucked the life out of me, but yeah. I recently realized, I will never be happy in a 9-5 because of my illness. The only lifestyle that will accommodate my being, well, sick, is being self employed, doing some sort of online business. So while I'm on social security, I'm now looking for remote online part-time jobs, but I'm going to try to start an online business as well meanwhile. I won't be making enough money soon, but I'm hoping I can maybe get a part time gig to keep myself afloat until it (hopefully) does. I think sometimes you just gonna take some risks if there's something you really want to do, and you can't do it while having a 9-5. I think it's recommendable that you are living life boldly! I hope it works out for both of us. I traveled to Japan and South Korea last year and would love to travel again soon.

Very honest! I share so many outlooks on life! The 2.4 children / mortgage lifestyle all to enjoy when you’re at pension age if a daily struggle for me too. (THAT’S IF WE LIVE TILL THEN!) I hit 30 and moved countries for a decade to progress in my career and see things I never thought I’d ever see. Best decision of my life! Got made redundant during COVID and had to move back to the UK. Fast forward since then and I’m tormented with what’s next! I need that fire in my belly to just go and do something but I’m so confused with what I want! So completely feel your feelings and hope you are able to find that happiness or at least the comfort in knowing that you tried! The feel of failure is so hard!
@lifewithvicx

Yeah I needed to get it off my chest! I often feel that travel is romanticised but those who spend their lives Traveling also have their moments of ‘what am I doing’ and ‘what next’. You’re right it’s the best thing I have ever done to experience the world and I would recommend it to anyone but I want to normalise still being ‘lost’. I hope you find that fire 🔥 and that everything works out for the both of us 🙌🏻

No, sounds like money is not a problem for you. I'm in my 30's, single, have no kids, unemployed, living with my parents, struggling with life, and have no family and friend support. My younger years my parents were demanding and controlling while I wanted an education for myself. After college, I've been struggling to find work, ended up working for low wages, and my life has not gotten any better. It's difficult being unemployed in my situation because I have no family and friend support. If it makes you feel any better, at least you had traveled and have a RU-vid channel.

I’ll be 19 on June 7th I took a gap year after high school and I traveled Poland and Germany and Czechia for 2 months, got a half sleeve on my right arm, worked as a lab technician at an oil company and as a physical labourer at a water company. I don’t got a clue on what to do do with my life really. I’ll go to Uni for 3D arts and I probably won’t land a job after graduating so I’ll end up going into a more “serious” degree program or trades. I live in Canada so moving out to live on my own isn’t plausible so I’ll probably end up living with my mom for ever which I have no problem with. The reason I’m writing all of this is that I want to share my appreciation for people who voice realism. So we shouldn’t try and measure our success basing it on other peoples lives. Ever since I stopped comparing myself with other people my life got a lot easier mentally.

As someone approaching the end of their 30s, the only advice I can give is don't underestimate how much you will change physically and philosophically. At the moment your outlook is still as if you are in your 20s and you are at the tail end of very young. As you progress through your 30s, if you keep up this travelling you will start to notice you are getting much older than most travellers, and they will start to notice you are much more older. Your pool of people to hang out with will start to reduce, which may lead to you feeling even more isolated. The concerns you highlighted at the start of the video - single, no kids, lack of roots - may become more acute. That said I don't know you, you may be fine with all of this and have a great time, and all of this might not apply to you. Good luck

Some women get those things then want to act out and get the man to walk away! So there’s really no shame in not having children or a man and house. Or for men for that matter! Just try to enjoy work and have a reasonable discipline in everyday life diet exercise! Little to no alcohol, drugs consumption and try to be on good terms with most people and not feel angry over little things such as friends, boyfriends liking social media photos or female friends going back to men you don’t like. Then needing to block them and give pointless silent treatments! We can’t control other people and we wouldn’t like them if they were exactly like ourselves in any case. Control the controllable.

But that's not true when talking about family and marriage. If you're childless at 30 as a woman you have a 50/50 chance, statistically, to become a mother. At 32 that goes down to 40% and it only gets worse from there. Not sure about marriage but you have to meet someone, see how it works out (at least 12 months and that's brave already) so single at 30 as a woman you may get married at 32, then get pregnant, you'd be 33, at least... At that point fertility becomes an issue, you're maybe a fifth as fertile as at 20. The drop in birthrates is exactly that... People who do have children have as many as always but the drop is driven by entirely childless people, and that's women like this one. Think of it like this: men who want kids are long taken by more willing women when they're younger. I'm a very average guy but I was married at 30. If you try to get a really handsome guy that makes decent money, at that age, best of luck. Complete pipedream. They're all long married.

"Have I failed?" are you saying that you don't want to be "unemployed, (with) no house, single, and have no kids"? If so, you need take steps to work towards those things - getting a partner is easy, getting a job is also easy and having kids (getting pregnant) is easy - the house not so easy. The difficulty is in the standards you are willing to accept. What kind of man wants to have kids with you? You need to ask yourself this question then start looking for him - being realistic, and willing to compromise is the key to success. Just a tip as I don't know how much success you've had in relationships thus far - femininity involves submitting to your man, it's a very different head-space to being single. A man risks a lot when having children in the west, so this quality will be the first thing they look for when they vet you. There can only be one leader in a relationship after all, two leaders results in arguing and eventually a break-up. Best of luck to you and I pray you start a loving family.
