Bored with Watches and Wonders already, so I thought it would be a good day to shoot my SOTC video for 2024. This is a combination of my watches as well as my wife's, and includes Rolex, Tudor, Omega, TAG Heuer, and Seiko!
Beautiful collection. I also have left hand VTNR and Datejust 36 with blue motif dial. The VTNR just came back with me from Vietnam. I wore it everyday everywhere I went. It blended well with tropics.
Hi Mark thanks for showing us your collection it does show your watch progression and is surprising the wide range of sizes of watches you wear and own.i no your on over precious about your watches because you like to wear them but if it was me I would have put a towel on the stones first. I'm also surprised but the watches you still want to buy are watches you can get reasonably easy in the UK not a big fan of the air king just think there's too many numbers on the dial but great video It's great to see you're enjoying all of your watch collection thanks John.
Thanks John, yes I thought a few people might not like me resting the watches on the stones, but the stones are very smooth and rounded, unlike gravel or shells. I quite fancy that Air-King and totally get why some people don't like it
Hi Mark! Not sure if you remember, but I said the Air King could be the ONE AND DONE Rolex Watch. Bought one last year on 31st Dec, just before the price hike, and have been daily-ing it since. Haha glad you like it as much as I did.
I never considered it before, and it was released right in the middle of the hype bubble so it got drowned-out by other watches. But yes I can totally see why it's a daily for you.
lol you said you were content with your collection and I the same video you have three watches you would definitely buy if you had the opportunity. 😂 watch collecting is madness. Nice collection. I am thinking of going gray for the riddler on jubilee. Just need to save up a little more money! 😊
Hello Mark! If you don't mind me saying so, I actually think you have too many divers... If I were you, I would diversify my collection with pieces of different calibre and design. From my experience, this is crucial to appreciate them more when you wear them. Among your watches I would keep the DJ palm dial, the GMT sprite and another of your choice among the remaining divers. The others I would sell and buy the new Speedmaster white dial since you like it...
You have some nice watches there mark i think i like the Tudor most , you have quite a large collection ive only got six but I'm not married so it works out all the best from the UK 👍
Nice collection Mark. I also like the Tudor and I think their BB41 ‘Submariner’ was the hit from W&W24. I also like the Air King and I think it probably hasn’t got many years left in it before Rolex decides it goes the way of the Milgauss. It’s unusual in the fact that it’s probably one of the very few Rolex’s that has the colours on the dial. Hope you get it soon!
Thanks for that. I believe all those Tudors are already for sale in the shops, so Tudor is definitely hoping to get these models out into the wild quickly, and capitalise on the exposure! Hoping the AK wants to come home with me one day, but as I said; I'm not losing sleep over it, now with Rolex.
Did you choose the oyster bracelet for your gmt lhd or was it the only option? Personally i love the gmt lhd and prefer the oyster bracelet over the jubilee .
Not keen on the fluted bezel personally as it makes the watch a little too blingy for my taste. The smooth bezel gives the watch a more utilitarian and toned-down aesthetic. The jubilee however is the only bracelet I would have on a DJ
Nice collection. I like the palm motif dial myself shame they discontinued it. I prefer the jubilee with fluted bezel which is why my blue DJ is that configuration. Love watch peoples logic "the speedy reduced i didnt really need", you dont really need most of em but, they are good to have
@@TheRandomWatchDude yes was considering that watch myself. But my local AD has had few. Seems like they are playing Rolex games. Probably more available next year. I will play the Rolex game, but definitely not playing this game with omega.
You can do a state of the collection video after every W&W and share which in the current collection would you part with to obtain any of the launched pieces if any. That should give us an idea of how good (or not good) the new releases are compared to what you (probably what we) already have 😅
I’m thinking of selling a few watches that I don’t wear very much at all but I haven’t sold one before. I live in Melbourne. Are you selling locally, Chrono24, eBay, any suggestions? Thanks Enjoy your content btw!
Hiya and thanks for the feedback. I sell mine on trademe the local version of eBay here in NZ. Melbourne is a big watch community so you should have no issues selling yours. Good luck!
Can you tell me if you sold your Batgirl on Trademe or some other avenue. I’m looking to sell a similar watch and I’m not sure the best way to sell it. Thanks in advance.
@@TheRandomWatchDude Maybe for the best. I didn't want to be a party pooper at the time but I heard those are a pain to service. Most of those Omega movements that have a complication built on top of a standard movement seem to give problems. The speedy reduced has a similar problem.
Why didn’t you go with the 42mm model orange/black Planet Ocean instead of the 45mm, if it is too large? I love the look of that watch. Omega makes some great timepieces, though they have been sort of disappointing the last few years compared to what other brands have released/innovated. Cheers 🍻
Hello I used to own the 42mm PO once upon a time, but the 45.5mm is a nice fun watch to wear on occasions, particularly in summer. It's nice to have some variety rather than every watch be a daily GADA. I agree Omega has had better days in terms of design
I think the hype is on social media and not in the actual market. Tudors are easy to get at the AD and resale reflects that. YT is all positive reviews about brands like Tudor. Then you buy one and it’s just ok, then you try to sell it and you don’t get much.
I find there so much less hype on the old school “forums”. When I got into the hobby in 2014 it wasn’t about instagram and RU-vid had 5% the current numbers of watch channels. The forums are full of people who know a lot about a sorts of brands. You get real opinions. Not all positive like YT.
@@TwentyOne_Five i cant wrap my head around the poor design choice of the bracelet not lining up with the inside of the lugs. On some models like the BB58 it makes the bracelet look like it wasnt made to fit the watch.
Totally agree, I feel like screaming at RU-vid sometimes. Tudor release monochrome version of a watch they released last year and an ugly coke gmt and are declared winners? Tudor haven't released a successful watch of their own design. They are just an expensive homage brand, cheaper and chunkier Rolex. The new black bay is a 1990s Submariner. Put it next to the black Pelegos and see how inspired they really are. And the poor mans Rolex statement persists because that's why the brand was created! Literally, designed as a poor mans Rolex. They were ranked 17th in terms of sales last year. Behind Hermes. Behind Swatch. ( not the group, the plastic watches) They are so far off the pace it's untrue. IWC, JLC, Grand Seiko, all bring horolgy to the show and interesting new models. Yet somehow Tudor wins?
@@TheRandomWatchDude is not ocd, I wear and scratch my watches, but if I can avoid something that it will damage them, I do! You wouldn’t take a knife and start scratching them, or you wouldn’t hit the purposely on door knobs, would you?
@Dr_LK I was just jesting, but don't worry, none of the watches got scratched in the making of the video. Every surface has the potential to scratch including cloths. It's being aware of how to handle the watch isn't it, and how not to clatter it around. I was placing them gently enough on the stones to prevent abrasion.
Yes, unfortunately nothing gets past my wife! No secret collections, although I do sometimes forget to tell her I bought a new watch, and only reminded when she sees it and asks if it's new
25:40 you literally just said at 19:55 that you're trying to get rid of watches that significantly overlap each other, yet here you are saying you want to procure a sub when you already have a sea dweller (basically a slightly bigger sub) 😂😂....what?!?! What did you just say 5 minutes ago? Practice what you preach!
Don't be mad! You obviously missed the part where I said that my wife is now wearing the Sea-Dweller pretty much all the time, and it's sized for her wrist, so I can't wear it. Chill my man, and no way is a SD43 and a 41mm Sub an overlap anyway, but you do you, and I'll do me.
I'm waiting on the keyboard warriors to bollock you for putting your watches on stones 😁. To me if you want an unbiased none clickbait look into W&W there is only one channel and that is Alex @ WatchAdvisor forget the rest , I do as 99% of them boil my tripe at times and do not understand the Rolex game plan one iota so settle forTudor to bang on about ( erm think about it guys ) ok sorry rant over. Jesus wept I never thought you would say what you did regarding the 2254 , bloody hell where did those 11 weeks go mate. I can't find anything I dont like about your 3 ' I would by them right now ' choices as I own 2 of them ( albeit my subby is pre-ceramic ). As much as I love my Omegas the plain vanilla moonwatch has never appealed to me as I own a few much better looking chronos but that White dial is something else !!.
Definitely some rollicking coming for the stones you're right. I was putting them down ever so gently though! Mate I need to check Watch Advisor out, thanks for the heads up. I watch Jeffrey McMahon a lot, have done for years
