Steam pumpkin cake 2019

600g cubed pumpkin
100g shallots
20g garlic
2 deseeded chillies
100g dried shrimp
Rough chop the ingredients
Fry till fragrant and set aside
1 tsp pepper
Leave some to fry with the pumpkin
400g rice flour
50g tapioca flour
50g corn flour
1 tsp salt
800ml water (add 1/3 at a time)
Stir till no lumps
Cook pumpkin for 4 mins
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tsp pepper
and add in starch solution
Cook till ladle can stand on it's own
Oil a 10 inch (25cm) round tray
Steam for 40mins
Eat it with this homemade chili sauce

Hi Lilian I've steam this pumpkin cake overnight.The balance of this cake I just fried it in slow flame n is really yummy crispy outside .

When the cake has cool down, it has some cracks at the top. Is it normal?

That happens when the heat it too much during steaming.

Dear Ginger, i had make and the kuih turned out very tasty, tq for the video. I m looking for a stainless steel wok, may i know the brand u are using in tis video clip,or any recommendations?

Thanks for trying out the recipe, glad you liked it. My stainless steel wok is Zebra and it's more than 40 years old😂. It's a great and long lasting wok

Dear Ginger, I found your video while searching for pumpkin cake recipe. Your recipe is the best with corn flour n tapioca flour added which makes it cake/ kueh taste bitey n have smooth texture. Hi Judy, yes you may steam it in the night and enjoy it for breakfast in the morning. I sometimes do that too. Any balance after that, please keep in the fridge. Thanks again for trying out the recipe ❤️
