Good video. Good comparison between the two and your reasons for selling. I'd be keeping the Davosa as well. I just picked up a vintage GMT quartz in the red bezel and I'm in love with it.
Great video...thanks. Just ordered the exact same Davosa. Looking forward to seeing what it's like and believe me I've got connaisseurs around me...my son is a watchmaker at Patek and we live in Geneva so everyone's wearing nice timepieces around here!
Thanks for sharing. Both great watches. Funny you say you always come back to Steinhart. Exactly same here. Already had 7 Steinharts, 4 of them Gmt's! Always sell them but always keep rebuying them. It's a crazy thing when you come to think of it. And yet again in the market for another gmt...this time the black one, hence I'm here... anyways, thansk for sharing. Great quality video.
Great informative video! Like you said, at least you could order the Steinhart at any time! Its not like Rolex and their weird selling strategies, making it pretty much impossible to get. I speak with Gunter Steinhart a lot, he is a very nice guy, easy going!! I also have the Davosa, and they are absolutely fantastic to deal with as well, to fantastic companies with great watches!!!!! Have a wonderful day!!!
Excellent review comparison, as usual! I have many Steinharts but no Davosas. By the way, I am a BIG FAN of tapered bracelets so that might stop my chances of getting the Davosa right there (I realize it's tapered but not much). Lately I have been buying better quality brands and have sort of put the Steinharts aside. But if I am doing something where the watch I am wearing might get damaged- you know which one I put on. Value-wise, the Steinhart is unbeatable IMO. And a very good watch, price notwithstanding.
I had my heart set on the Steinhart, however, you opened my eyes to the Davosa brand. I agree totally with your wife but in the end will get the Steinhart due to price difference. It’s still a win-win compromise.
If you’d compare the comparable O1 Steinhart you’ll find that the price and the optional size of 39mm is a plus that can’t be ignored! If you have a rather slender wrist 39x13x47 is just perfect for a diver! Gives a certain chunk that a diver should have imo but is never too large! Got mine a month ago and love it!!
I have two Steinharts(both 39mm) and know they are excellent quality. And while I would like 42mm size, the straight lugs makes me doubtful about getting that size. The shorter l2l of the 39mm model works good on my 17cm wrist, though.
Good video expressing your reason for choice of watch! Each watch has something that appeals to the buyer! I myself would have selected the squale brand as a homage to the submariner style watch! They were a Swiss company that have been around for decades! At my sons request, I built him a homage submariner from a star supply generic rolex submariner case made for a caliber 3135 but modified the movement holder to accept a chronometer eta 2824-2 and had the dials printed with his full name on it for just under $1000. A bespoke! The best value I ever spent for a watch after 49 years of watch trading! Any watch with an eta movement with generic cases modified with quality parts are good! The rest is all marketing!
Hi, great video! Do you know the specific model of your Davosa Ternos? I think there are different designs/ older models of the watch still available and I’d like to get one just like yours. Thanks!
I think you made the right choice. The Davosa looks a bit nicer. Not sure about a white date window on a watch with a cyclops though. Maybe one or the other but not both. I wonder given the company are contactable whether one can be ordered without the cyclops.
