Halliburton is nice but at this point it’s turning into a smear campaign on the Knicks that are fifth in the East and got the same record, playing better defense and got a comparable bench. I don’t see the Pacer’s winning a championship anytime soon but there a good team that just got good this season.

As annoying as he can be, Stephen A called this one all the way. He wasn’t bold or boisterous about it. But he wanted Haliburton all the way. Obi coming home was such a good story, Smith seemed to not want to throw cold water on the vibes. The Knicks clearly thought they were going to trade Randle. Randle goes 20-10-5 and makes the All-NBA team. You could argue they should’ve traded him anyway at his highest value.

Who knows if he would have been this great with another team? He wasn't this great when he started. He's in the right system now, that's why he's playing really well. I'm no fan of your miserable New York Knicks but I bet that had they drafted him, the next day you would have been on First Take and tearing "your beloved Knicks" to shreds for selecting him with the eighth overall pick because of his funky shot. And given that Tom Thibodeau hasn't liked playing rookies/young players extended minutes since he ruined Derrick Rose's career in Chicago in 2012, the likelihood is he wouldn't have played Haliburton much in his first season. And Obi Toppin is playing well since he left your miserable Knicks and joined the Indiana Pacers. Maybe the common denominator here is that playing for the Knicks is to be avoided...

Yeah, Chicago is THE WORST FRANCHISE SINCE JORDAN & PIPPEN LEFT. Yes, we could have had Haliburton and Wagner, instead we have neither and are still sitting on the contracts of LaVine, DeRozan and Vučević and not seeing any progress.

Stephen A. Smith should at least be happy the Knicks got to the quarterfinals. They did good in the in-season tournament. They beat the Heat eliminating them. I think they need to trade Mitchell Robinson for Deandre Ayton. They need a big man who can get double-doubles.

Let's go with the premise that the Knicks were stupid for not picking Haliburton, then why did the Wizards (with the 9th pick), Suns (10th) and Spurs (11th) all pass on him. And what about the Kings who drafted him as the 12th pick, isn't that more of an indictment of stupidity for them trading him to the Pacers? You never know with draft picks... you can analyze it all you want but it's not a science. Sometimes you overestimate or underestimate a draftee's skill-set. Sometimes it's the system that they get dropped into. Sometimes the coach has a personal dislike or maybe it's the player's lack of discipline (drugs, partying, guns, food, etc.).
