I'll never forget when the Warriors were at OKC it was the nearing the end of OT and Steph was just casually walking past Half Court and he drained the Game-Winning Shot. Dude knew that a Half Court shot was going in, Nobody has that kind of confidence in their shot.
The subtle thing about Steph's numbers is that most of the time he finishes his job in 3 qtrs and sits out the entire 4th. He could have had multiple 70+ games by now
Hehe I may have gotten carried away there but for arguments sake let's say by multiple I mean at least 2. The thing I'm looking at is momentum. In the majority of games where Curry scores 40+ points he explodes in the 3rd qtr and drops about 70% of his points there, getting progressively hotter until either the qtr ends or Kerr takes him out. He's usually glowing red hot by the time he gets benched for the remainder of the game because GSW is already leading by that much. If he were to carry that momentum into the 4th qtr and play starter minutes (this is a guy that scored 13 points in about 100 secs against Boston), i really do believe he'd have had at least 2 70+ point games.
Curry isnt considered clutch because he rarely has the opportunity to be clutch. How are you gonna be called a closer when you sit out most 4th quarters because you're bootyblasting teams that badly?
AfterLifeGuru he had the chance in the finals and as we all witnessed he had no screens n Love locked him up after Kyrie busted a 3 in his face on his court and took the 🏆 out of Oracle 😳 Curry is weak with without screens and was missing in action in crunch time of the finals, now that KD is there his ego along with his huge ass teeth have gotten bigger 😳
clay cox Steph was hurt and his lateral speed was obviously affected... also the warriors run the least amount of pick and rolls in the league yet people still claim Steph needs screens... just shows that you're just another hater with little to no knowledge
curry's off ball game is astronomically on another level to a point that kyrie's style won't give him the ability to catch up to him. It's his off ball movement that makes him so hard to guard and lets his teammates shine while playing with steph. Kyrie's style is to iso ball
off ball movement is a result of a system allowing for it, under brad i'm sure kyrie will improve drastically especially if they can get some more assets that allow kyrie to not always have to be the offense. Curry has Durant Klay and Draymond to initiate. Kyrie has Kyrie, Kyrie, and Horford
^steph literally leads the league in distance travelled per game by a huge margin dude is moving and cutting every second he's on the floor and that takes a TREMENDOUS amount of stamina and basketball iq/awareness. so you can't just assume kyrie or anyone is capable of doing the same thing steph does if they're under the right system. maybe kyrie can but he sure as well won't be nearly as effective on iso possessions if he spends that much energy off the ball like steph does.
players have strengths and weaknesses and the so called "systems" are TAILORED towards that. if you have lebron and kyrie on the team you're gonna have them play iso ball and spread the court with shooters if you have steph and klay you're gonna have them run around the court like crazy for catch and shoot looks. teams are not stupid if they can play like golden state they will but they dont have the right pieces. kyrie is better off playing iso than playing off the ball that's why you can't just say oh but kyrie can do the same he's just not playing under the right system.
You can apply off ball movement in any system moron. But a lot of these offensive players like Melo, LeBron, Kyrie, and Westbrook like to save their energy by sitting out on the perimeter ball watching. Kyrie needs a ton of energy for isolation plays. This is why Curry will perform well even when he is age 35+. He doesn't rely heavily on explosive athleticism because all he needs is a 4 inch jump with a flick of the wrist or an easy drive in an open lane without iso-playing.
What separates Curry from past greats is the volume of his 3 pointers. Not only is his percentage higher. He takes a lot more of them. Plus, he is more accurate from further away. Defenses have to stretch so far to cover him that entire interior of the court is opened up. And the Warriors wreak havoc as a result. Curry is proof that "making teammates better" doesn't always mean passing the ball. He opens so much space that other guys have room to operate.
It's insane that he shoots at such a high percentage with such difficult shots... I mean, look at his footwork, it's all over the place because he's getting his shot up so quick, but it goes in anyway
and then some idiot says "he only averages 5 assists a game" and completely disregards the fact that his teammates get open look after open look because the defense is petrified about where Steph is on the court and often times you will see multiple defenders jumping out at him on the perimeter while someone else gets a free layup. But certainly Curry didn't help create those shots because he didnt get an assist right? Logic at its best.
BlueWave finally a comment section where everyone isn't biased and actually watches the whole game instead of basing everything off of highlights and statistics
If I’m choosing a PG and it is between Steph and Kyrie I’m going with Steph. He is a threat from anywhere on the floor and creates problems for teams on defense just by his presence alone. AND this man is disruptive on D and causes turnover let me point that out. Kyrie is a great player but he’s not Steph.
The disrespect of nba players and media to curry is ridiculous. They just cant admit his greatness, but when its game time they trap him, double team him, push him around, and all dirty tricks. I think that in itself already define his greatness.
I hate maxs argument. He’s using one specific example to make a claim about a much bigger thing. Sure he got outplayed by Kyrie in the 2016 finals but one series shouldn’t be your only argument. Like kobe got outplayed by Paul pierce in the 2008 finals, does that mean Paul pierce is better?
Lol for real. Dude is too busy living in the last five minutes of Game 7 of the '16 Finals (when Steph wasn't even 100%). How about the most recent Finals?
Nonchalant1996 Did Max just use a series that Steph was injured in to make a point? Does he not realize that when Steph is healthy, he averages 26, 7, and 6 in the finals? He hit a dagger in Kyrie's face in the 2017 finals to punctuate the game... When Curry is healthy, there's no need to close a game in the final seconds because his opponent will already be blown out of the water.
He's also forgetting Lebron played Def on Curry. Let's see how Kyrie does with Lebron (aged) playing D on him. Then we can say if Kyrie is close to being Curry clutch.
Every single time I watch Steph Curry I shake my head I don't think people understand how ridiculously unbelievable a shooter this dude is, it's ineffable.
they neglected to consider that they are comparing what steph does in 3 quarters against what kyrie does in 4 and steph still smokes him. nit to mention max is outright lying, kyries best d is straight up terrible
People seem to misunderstand over the years that Curry is NOT a product of the Warriors, but the Warriors are a product of Steph. People love to take greatness for granted.
iamprinceofpennis He missed a few games in the playoffs that year did he not? That's what I mean. And this isn't the NFL, BBall players are still in better health, relatively, by the end of the season. Pretty sure Kyrie was in better health than Steph in 16' and visa versa in 15'.
WhipAddict Curry was absolutely fine and he let everybody know when he was yelling “I’m Back!” against the Trail Blazers in the second round Also he didn’t have surgery or anything in the off-season after so it was totally made up even Steve Kerr said he was fine
The WallStar The man missed 6 games in the Playoffs that year. Idc what you say, he wasn't himself. And of course THEY aren't going to use any excuses man, come on dude.
I think Max is smoking that WEEEEEEDA. Did he forget that Steph nearly averaged a triple double in the Finals last year. Yes, small, frail Steph Max!!! Also, he is the ONLY UNANIMOUS MVP EVER. Even the man's jockstrap that you worship LeBron has never been that Max. Let's be clear Kyrie is a BAAAAAAAD MAAAAN but has a couple of levels to get to Steph. There's levels to this thing.
2 years before KD showed up he was considered a no show in the finals even against OKC when klay brought them back from 3-1 curry face was on milk cartons. Curry is the better overall player but Kyrie is better when it really counts
@Apexways47 Valid point regarding the OKC series and the Finals 2 years ago. Although, LeBron gets all the credit any basketball purist knows Kyrie was the MVP of that series 2 years ago and throughly outplayed Steph in that series. But, its amazing that they hold that OKC series and Finals against him and seem to downplay what may go down as one of the most dominant years by any player ever in the NBA wire to wire. Curry's 16' to 17' season is simply amazing when you check the stats and the accomplishments for a PG. The guy has singlehandedly changed the way the game will be played from here on. As great a talent as Kyrie is he still has some proving to do to be on Steph's level.
BlkDiesel Kyrie did get credit but to say Lebron didn’t deserve that mvp after leading in every statistical category in the finals against the best team ever? Yes Kyrie deserves credit but lets not act like he wasnt a no show until game 3. Curry proved what he can do with Durant injured against the best teams.
Just for the record the worst game that Kyrie had in that 2016 series was game 2. He had 10 pts 1 ast and 8 rebounds, it was the only game he didn't show up. He had 26 pts 4 ast and 3 reb in game 1. Then from there he pretty much was unstoppable for the next 5 games and thorougly outplayed Steph. LeBron did what he's supposed to do but even with his stats there is no way they go to game 7 without Kyrie. He changed that whole series. To your last point, I believe that both Curry and Durant have shown what they can both do when each other is out. They complement each other extremely well.
Max Kellerman on that "Kyrie vs Steph in the Finals" stuff cause of the shot Kyrie hit over Steph in game 7 to ice the game. But he conveniently forgets that Steph came back the very next year and hit the dagger in game 5 over Kyrie in an almost mirror of the previous year as revenge.
Christian Bebee Game 5- Curry has a 30 point near triple double and scores 8 points and has 2 assists in the fourth quarter while Kyrie shoots 0-6 and has 2 turnovers in the fourth quarter of game 5. Curry averaged 27/9/8 while being double teamed and trapped in every single pick and roll and almost every time he crosses past half court with the ball in his hands. Curry definitely redeemed himself whether you like it or not
Being dominant without the ball is underrated. Steph doesn't hog the ball, when he has it he either does something or gives the ball up to let his gravity do the work - proficient. Larry Bird was excellent at dominating games without the ball as well.
Not so fast my guy, did you see the final seconds of that game 7? Don’t hang stephs hat on one game, I could do the same with Kyrie, but Kyrie’s actually meant more
Sun Spot Kyrie isn’t Better overall, Curry has a higher layup percentage despite what the media tells you, a higher fg%, mid range %, 3pt % and more points. He’s better than Kyrie in EVERY way, except Kyrie slightly more clutch.
Steph is the greatest shooter period. And Im a Cavs fan. My whole family love the Cavs. But this man Steph is a whole other level. And not only is his shooting amazing. It’s his off ball offense. Its literally what creates space for himself and even for the whole team. Thats why the Warriors can score 10-15 points in almost 2 minutes.
Mark Lart lol I'm a Celts fan and I completely agree.. I honestly find it HILARIOUS watching those times where it just looks like he throws the ball up.. no form at ALL... just muscle memory... he's ridiculous
Y'all say Steph Curry doesn't show up in the 4th quarter.... Well, that's usually because Steph and the Warriors are usually blowing out their competition by the end of the 3rd
Steph is underrated in my opinion. I think this guy could be in the argument of best player in the league. A lot of shine was lost when durant joined. People forgot what Steph did that 73-9 season. I don't think any other player would have led that team to 73-9. There was a point that season that everyone was like damn this guy might be the best in the game right now! I am a warrior hater too but this guy's take over ability is very similar to the best of the best.
Max, too bad you missed the best NBA game of the year when the Warriors beat the Celtics on Saturday. Or maybe you just turned it off for the 4th quarter. Curry scored 13 points in the last 1:42. He hit a 3-pointer, a layup and then 8 free throws! He did not miss a shot or a free throw down the stretch. Kyrie scored only 5 points during that same stretch and missed a free throw. Curry had 49 points and only 1 turnover. Kyrie had 37 points and 3 turnovers. I admit, Kyrie outperformed Curry in the 2016 finals when Curry was INJURED. Dubs almost won anyway.
That was when Curry was INJURED! LBJ was not able to guard Curry in the recent game on Jan. 15. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sVhDvIhx9i4.html It's kind of sad that the best you can do is keep citing the match up when Curry was injured and try to pretend he was healthy.
Wetness is the ability of a liquid to adhere to the surface of a solid, so when we say that something is wet, we mean that the liquid is sticking to the surface of a material. Therefor water is not wet
You know what a pg supposed to do right? pass first shot second that's what a true pg is i cant say he's going down as the greatest pg ever but i could say he is the greatest shooter ever.
Stephen Curry made eight 3-pointers on his way to a season-high 49 points in Saturday's win over the Celtics. This was Curry's 36th career game making at least eight 3-pointers. The next three players with the most such games in NBA history -- JR Smith, Klay Thompson and Ray Allen -- have combined for 33 such games. -- Michael Schwartz
Jofundy lmao u mean their bench took them to the finals???? That team would have not gotten where they got without their number 1 in the NBA bench. They can sit okay curry and kd and still win.
Naaaaa Gsw could hold its own before KD chillll, Curry was their main star but Drayton, Klay and Iggy were enough to nearly cancel out LeBron and Kyrie, Don't compare Kyrie and a trash team to Curry and a team that nearly swept the regular season. Curry not that great. How dare you compare Kyrie and LeBron and Love to Steph who is excellent, Klay who is an underated excellence, Kevin Durant the second greatest player in the league, Draymond, Iggy, and a strong bench. GSW is stacked. Take KD from them they'd still be tough to beat. And KD is clutch too which is something Curry isn't.
Steph is better than Kyrie. Revolutionized the game. Amazing inside game. Stretches the floor. Disrputs defenses (almost like Shaq, but with shooting. Every team has to plan around how to defend Curry). TEAM PLAYER. Good Passer, even though he makes dumb decisions sometimes. Knows how to play with Stars, unlike a lot of players in the league. Kyrie, on the other hand, has the best handles I have ever fucking seen. Good 3pt shooter. Better clutch player. Has the man ever missed a layup?? I mean his layup package is ridiculous. Can lead a team. Tends to break down late in playoffs. Kyrie is amazing, but doesn't create as much havoc to the defense as Steph does. Steph has been doubled EVERY game ever since his breakout year, especially in the playoffs.
Kyrie will never be better. Curry's shooting ability changes the whole defense and he pushes the tempo better than anyone in NBA history. Kyrie plays in isolation too much.
Bay is Bae , just imagine if Curry didn't play 3 years at Davidson and came in the draft after his first year, and also imagine if Curry didn't have so many ankle injuries in his early career. I wonder what his numbers would look like ?.... Especially his 3 point numbers.
KJTheGoat23 with the team that golden state have with KD its easier. Kyrie is better going in and curry the best shooter. Kyrie is a big reason y cleveland have a ring
Really ask yourself this question. Would you want a good point guard that has the best Handles in the game on your team? Or a good point guard that is the best shooter in NBA history and revolutionized the game of basketball on your team?
If u guys ever watch the whole game of steph u will realize how effective this guy is. He goes iso max 5 possessions per game and is willing to pass first and move without the ball. That is a true point guard. Making other guys better and making plays for them. Kyrie and Westbrook go iso min 20 possessions. Westbrook passes to get assist and shoot ridiculous shots.
Max is on serious drugs. He talks about Steph like he has ever been trash in finals. Let's look at it: 2017 Finals: 26.8 pts; 8.0 rebs; 9.4 assits; 2.2 stls on 44% shooting 2016 Finals: 22.6 pts; 4.9 rebs; 3.7 assits on 40.3% shooting 2015 Finals: 26.0 pts; 5.2 rebs; 6.3 assits; 1.8 stls on 44.3% shooting Points to be considered: - Steph was the clear MVP in 2015, he got robbed. - In 2016 we all know he wasn't healthy. Put some respect on Curry's name.
Eagles fan since 2006. We did expect a lot coming into the 2016 finals because of what they accomplished during the regular season. But it's no excuse he had a knee injury during post-season that would drastically impact his game.
Relative to his MVP caliber regular seasons, Curry does underperform in the finals imo, but even if he averaged 18-4-4 on 35% shooting in a series, his impact is just so great. In 2016 when the Cavs won in 7, Curry averaged 20 ppg on 40% shooting and they still should’ve won in 5 if Green wasn’t suspended. If you look at pure box score stats only, it’s indisputable that kyrie tends to play better than Curry, but Curry’s presence on the floor alone is the greatest since MJ
melokid99 everyone? How about the warrior bandwagons who create fake accounts making fun of his hairline, finals record, 2011?calling him " Lebum" or something stupid
Why is max acting like Curry didn’t damn near average a triple double in the last finals... also he averages more points in the finals than kyrie... so I don’t understand Max’s point. The only thing he’s probably thinking about is game 7 of 2016
Ethan Lathon In that Game 7 Draymond scored more than everybody and had more rebounds than everybody. I guess Draymond is better than Curry , LeBron, Kyrie, Love, Klay and anybody else that played in that game.
Steph has 2 MVPs, 2 rings, is an elite passer, a much better defender than Kyrie, a better scorer, a better shooter, and a much more effective scorer. How can anyone compare Kyrie to Steph?
U lost all respect when u said steph is a better defender lmao. Curry is a better shooter but that’s it. Kyrie is a pure scorer. Both great players I love both. Kyrie in a couple years will pass him though
If someone is a better player. They are a better player. This ludacris idea that someone is "clutch" No. Stop it. If steph is better for 46 mins then he's better for the last 2 too. Agreed Iso skill shines better in the "clutch" so ky closes the gap. But yall over exaggerate too much
Max never takes into consideration what the opposing teams defensive scheme is. Curry goes up against double teams even with Durant on the court. Watch the film on him, when he's trying to get separation guys are grappling him because if he even gets daylight it's over.
Kid-_Flash - How is LeBron 3-5 when he played his whole career wit superteams lmaooo this nigga is top 10 all time, handpicked teams, and still lose in the finals 🤣🤣🤣🤣
David Owen He carried a team filled with rookies and had JARRET JACK as his second best player into the second round of the 2013 playoffs and almost beat the Spurs. You’re an ignorant idiot
Junu Johnny because curry was the second option and the cavs were so worried about defending kd at times it looked like they forgot about curry and then u got to worry about leaving klay open
curry gets so disrespected in the 2015 finals, its bullshit he didn't get mvp, his stats were actually above his regular season average that year in the finals and he was a monster in those close out games especially in that game 4 when cavs were up 2-1 and then the close out in game 6 in cleveland steph was great the 1 finals he didn't perform as well was the 2016 finals weather you wanna give him the excuse of he was never fully healthy from getting hurt but what ever thats 1 finals he some what under performed but thats cause of the insane standard curry has displayed and he almost averaged a triple double him self in the 2017 finals but that doesn't get talked about as much as lebron averaging a triple double while his team got dismantled in 5 games
Maxx you based your entire argument on the one shot in the finals, CURRY WAS NOT 100% how clutch was Kyrie last year in the finals? Dont get me wrong Kyrie is one of the greats and is going to solidify himself as that, but dont kid yourself, lets wait till Kryie gets a couple MVPs and a few more rings before we start with that nonsense.
People are forgetting that in the 2017 finals kyrie in game 5 was 1-6 in the third quarter and 0-5 in the fourth quarter Where kyrie at then? Kyrie has a not shown up before and he was healthy. It's crazy how people bring the 2016 finals for Steph but, he was injured throughout the whole playoffs. Curry averaged in the 2017 finals 28/9/8 along with over 2 steals.
Man Curry playing on a MVP Level the eye test for real hoopers and lets not talk the "numbers" Currys 2017 finals numbers: 26.8 ppg 9.4 ast 8.0 rebounds that's dam near a triple double.
slamandjam2 thats a lie 2016 finals where he shit on curry proved that. 2017 finals proved that to if kd wasnt there lebron and kyrie would have raped the warriors
Tbh i think he is the best point guard in the league right now. He is complete in a ways. Making plays, scoring from anywhere, FTs, Out rebounded a center in the finals.
I'll take Curry over Kyrie any day if we're going for a game winner with no time out. Nobody spaces the floor like Curry, he's the engine to that team, is the better player and yes Kyrie is insanely clutch and him dropping that killer 3 on Curry in the finals was insane but I don't feel like curry isn't clutch due to not playing up to his par in a finals when he was coming off of an ankle injury. Curry is clutch, he's the better player, but both brothers are amazing to watch do their thing, respect them both and hope this is a finals preview cause this game was amazing. Side note I can't wait to see the Celtics with Hayward.
Max acts like Curry is a scrub in the finals. Curry last year averaged 26.8pts , 9.4 assists, and 8.0 rebs. Last time checked that's almost a triple-double , and he did that averaging 37 mins a game that's 5 mintues less than LeBron. If KD didn't go completely nuts Curry would have won finals MVP.
lek lek is it a team sport or not? He was on the best team in the league that couldn't even win a ring. And he def should not have been the unanimous MVP.
does anybody remember steph was hurt in the playoffs when they loss the championship he got hurt in the western conference games and people keep calling him choker jezz
Taking Max to task on this one -- how can he say that Steph isn't clutch when there are plenty of games when Steph spends the entirety of the fourth quarter on the bench because he's already taken care of business? Or, maybe, he's expecting that Steph needs to hit game winners all the time even though he's on the same squad as Kevin Durant and playing with a squad so deep that he doesn't need to be all in all the time? Lastly, the only time Steph didn't show up in a Finals performance against Kyrie, the consensus was that Steph was injured during the 2016 Finals just like Kyrie was injured during the 2015 Finals. Last season when they were both healthy, Steph won their matchup and the Warriors won the title.
Curry could've retired this year and still be the GOAT Shooter. Whether these analyst admit it or continue to say "he's one of the best" is irrelevant. Water is Wet
Curry is the best point guard I've ever seen and I've seen Nash, Kidd, Stockton, Westbrook, CP3, Tony Parker, Kyrie, Wall, Payton etc. This dude is the most complete offensive player in the game today.
hector cervantes you ain't watch them point guards cause you would not say something as foolish as that. You have to be blinded by how blessed he is to have his teammates and coach, there is a reason his name was not circulating until the team around him was good and he was only averaging 24 points yet making the playoffs . He is not even the best player our generation smh
TJ 3k Curry has always put up numbers, since he came into the league. He is unstoppable with or without the ball, almost every guard I mentioned needs the ball but Curry's off ball movement is special and allows others to play their games, his efficiency is off the charts, 2 MVPs, broke his own 3 point shooting record twice etc. Not to mention he's the only point guard I mentioned to win a championship being the best player in his team. He changed the game.
Alberto Reyes true but theres people who played in way more than 3 and there's also trash bench players who ain't play a finals min but got a ring so...
Crazy thing nobody acknowledges about Curry is how fast he can score and run up the score board. This man can literally drop 30 in a quarter on 10 3pointers...if he didn’t have Kd and Klay he’d easily be scoring 40-50 a game. Curry scores more efficiently with less effort than any player in the game. His handles are only second to kyrie, his passing is great also.
My Team Over Yours have to disagree. KD is the player that can score the easiest because of his height. BUT, Curry is the best shooter and can get up to 40 points with almost no problem. His weakness? Himself. But when he is hot there is no chance to stop the Warriors
My Team Over Yours lol steph needs the help dont get it twisted he has that ability but often he scores most his points in a half rarely plays good 4 quarters the team keeps it close for him a lot of the times
I love them both.. but Max.. this man Steph averaged 28/9/9 in the finals!!! Dude is out of this world. I hate sports shows just when they first got Durant people say stpeh ain't the same now they are on his nuts. The man does anything to win. He will defer or he will drop 40 on your head it don't matter
MY TWO FAVORITE KILLAS NOTE ON THE TOPIC THO, I FEEL LIKE THEY SHOULDN'T DISCUSS IF KYRIE COULD CATCH CURRY UNTIL HE WINS 1 OR 2 MVPS -time makes us forget those 2 mvps season that the chef had that changed the NBA, dont mind me tho, i'm just out here spitting facts
