I hate Hollywood for its glamour and smug hypocrisy. However, Martin manages to strip away some of the veneer, as the faces in the audience sometimes reveal.
Another award ceremony with Steve whom I love as the host, yet he wastes so much time on himself that it actually turns into him instead of Tina. Notice the video barely gives her credit until the last 1/4. It's belittling and shameful. I feel embarrassed for her as I do on other ceremonies that Steve hosted. He definitely puts himself ahead of her in which the ceremony is supposed to be the opposite. Sorry Steve, but I know you don't care!
That’s part of the bit - satirising the self-aggrandising and exhibitionist traits of high profile performers while showing that the person being honoured is in the top echelon of the field and deserves the award.
I see someone has completely missed the point. Steve, in real life, is widely known as generous with his time, self-deprecating, encouraging, a fine mentor, and always puts other people first. So the "me me me" bit he does on stage is a joke, because he's nothing like that.
