Yeah, Bowie did basically discover him and then invited him to play on a couple of his tracks ✌

My guy I was the one that first suggested Stevie to you, I’m glad you still mess with him “life without you live at capital theater” the guitar playing is next level by Stevie the things he does will blow your mind.

There's a performance with Lonnie Mack, one of Stevie's heroes, doing "Oreo Cookie Blues", acoustic guitars, might want to have a look at that. And you should probably take a look at one of his fast instrumentals. Couple from the El Mocambo gig: "Testify" (a personal favourite as I love to play it myself); "So Excited"; "Wham" (a Lonnie Mack cover - Stevie says the first record he ever had in his life!). and there's also a good one of him doing "Hideaway (a Freddie King tune also quite famously covered by Eric Clapton with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers) with "Rude "Mood" (super fast!)(live at Montreux '82. Also, "Scuttle Buttin'" with "Say What!" live at Montreux '85. Stevie loved his instrumentals!

Mentioning Stevie's voice, I absolutely LOVE that voice. No matter what he's singing, his voice perfectly adapts to it. One of my faves is a simple song but really turns me on- "Change It" at the Capital theatre. My SRV. Induction was Cold Shot, the MTV video. Which is hilarious. Watch it if you can. ☮️ to all. Your personality? Very charming 😁

There is a couple of songs that I've been looking for but no one has ever done them and that's May I have a talk with you, live in Austin and Tick-Tock he recorded with his brother Jimmy Vaughan and Jimmy did a beautiful video with that song. There are alot of different videos but the video with the picture of Stevie Ray and Jimmy sitting in the studio is amazing. The message is awesome, Jimmy is watching video clips of Stevie Ray then goes to old videos of Jimmy and Stevie Ray when they were little. I cried like a baby because the tribute was so touching, it's worth it to watch even if you don't react to it. The first to notice Stevie Ray was actually Mick Jagger and he asked Stevie Ray and Double Trouble to play at a venue, Mick was supposed to be the entertainment but loved Stevie so much he kept telling him not to stop. They partied all night and there are pictures of them. Well a couple of days later Stevie's friend called Jagger's Manger and he said they decided not to use him because the blues don't sell records. So when Stevie played in Switzerland where he performed with Double Trouble and I couldn't believe they were booed ( per Tommy Shannon) David Bowie was there, David Bowie asked Stevie to play on 2 songs for his album one was Let's Dance and asked Stevie to tour with him for $300 a night Stevie started work with Bowie then Stevie Ray changed his mind and didn't tour. Sorry when I start talking Stevie Ray it's hard to stop lol

If you want to see a completely different side of Stevie, check out Riviera Paradise from this same show. No vocals...but an incredible masterpiece that Stevie wrote & dedicated to "all those who are suffering in any way". He's been gone 32 years, but his pain, love and compassion are still alive and able to touch you through that performance.

Stevie Ray said he was in the studio with Double Trouble and Stevie Wonder was in the studio next to them and he always loved Stevie Wonder, Stevie Wonder came in and started jammin with Stevie Ray and the band, they did Superstition and Stevie Wonder told Stevie Ray he could use it. To many Stevie's 😆. Every time Stevie Ray played with someone Albert King his godfather and others told Stevie Ray he could use their songs and spice them up, he sure did spice them up and then some. RIP TO THE GOAT STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN

Bowie saw SRV play at Montreux 1985 Jass Festival. Just prior to his release of Texas Flood. Stevie's career was already on track. Bowie did not discover him

Bowie saw him at the Montreux jazz festival and the quote" I watched this kid get on stage and play the most devastating rthym and blues I've ever heard"and after playing on bowie album he was offered the positive on tour and stevie said if his band could open then yes. Bowie said no and stevie said no thanks.

SRV's love for Stevie Wonder....who he was pretty tight with. Stevie Wonder spoke at SRV's funeral. They were good friends. Souls meeting up....living the life. Stevie Wonder is the bomb and the thing is, most of his 'radio music' isn't his best. You got to get a little deeper into to realize what that cat was about. But SRV loved Stevie Wonder. As anyone who knows music does. Mad admiration for each other. Two great musicians song writers. srv and stevie wonder... Stevie Ray Vaughan & Stevie Wonder's Characters - Backstage and Rehearsal 04/27/1988 - RU-vid Theres quite a few SRV/SW videos out there. Those cats were tight.

Somebody in the comments mentioned Couldn't Stand the Weather (live at Capitol Theater 1985). If you haven't done that one, it should be next. There are quite a few that reactors generally don't do. Here is one that I love. It reminds me a lot of the old Texas beer joint days (saw Stevie a few times): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vB6hNQv-Bh8.html

They asked Stevie in an interview they said I heard Keith Richards and Mock Jagger discovered you and Stevie answered back that his mama discovered him he said she looked down and said there he is but seriously musically it was Keith and Mick o think he was playing in Montrose music festival at a basement bar and they heard him playing and went crazy.

Eh from Canada nobody can take the trophy away from Jimi Hendrix but Stevie was a close second. I am a lucky duck to be able to see him in Ottawa almost 40 yrs ago. Dire Straits was the headliner but thats not why I went. After SRV i stuck around for a couple of songs and bounced. Great tune Biz thnx
