G'day guys, today we are reacting to Stevie Ray Vaughan Texas Flood (Live At The El Mocambo). What can I say....he is a true master when it comes to playing the guitar. I'm sure he sold his soul for talent like his.

Just don’t think jimmy could sing like him, and too be honest Stevie had a lot more soul, think it came from his love of the blues....jimmy was more acid rock, which was a term for that generation.... just so ya know jimmy was one of my heroes I’m 61 years old.... but Stevie was better singing and playin.... and I mean no disrespect too Jimmy.... jimmmy was the man in acid rock, no one close

Stevie Ray didn't need to sell his soul to the Devil to learn to play like that. All he had to do was steal his older brother Jimmy's guitar when he (Stevie) was three years old. I love it when reactors are left giggling in hysterical disbelief when SRV plays behind his back.

Loved watching your reaction.. I saw Stevie 4 times live.. 1st Time Gregg Allman opened for him in 1987 just outside LA at a county fairground. I stood right underneath him. It was a hot August night. The 4th song was “Voodoo Chile”. By the time he got have way through his sweat was dripping off in front of us. The 2nd time was at “The Greek” with BB King, 3rd with BB at The Greek again, last time Pacific Amphitheater, with BB and Joe Cocker. Every show was a must see. He was the reason I started playing guitar(at 27). I was so devastated when he died I couldn’t listen to his music for a long time. Even now when I see videos of him I still cry. “Lenny” was his first wife. He wrote that song for her while sitting on her bed. Also Stevie’s influence has passed through to my 22 year old son who plays guitar and shreds in the mold of Stevie. He was the best in my opinion... and I’ve seen em all except Hendrix.. there’s no one.. and never will be anyone like SRV...

Stevie used 13 gauge guitar strings. That was like playing with cables. The strength it took to bend those strings was incredible. Stevie was a guitar savant. Went to University of Texas in the early 80's and we new him as Little Stevie (we new his older brother Jimmy more with Fabulous Thunderbirds), but we knew he was a much better guitarist. Saw him at Padre Island in 82 before he hit it big, we appreciated what a great guitarist he was and it was cool to see when he started to get his props as a great guitarist. We even didn't appreciate how great he was until he passed and we realized we'd never get to see his great live shows again. GOAT.

Keeping it real Jimi Hendrix could not only play behind his back, he could also pick that ax using his teeth. At the Monterey Pop Festive in '66 he lit his guitar on fire and played on. I think you got it right at the end: It IS a passion. Playing at a caliber of musicianship that extraordinary is the result of a passion. I think it demeans someone to infer, even jokingly, or as an expression of amazement, that they might have acquired such mastery by way of a transaction. Hard work and a passion. I don't believe for a moment that you meant any injury by that earlier statement, but SRV shared so much of his soul with us - i don't think he ever sold any of it to anyone. @@Pilot545 Yes!!! My son and I were part of our worship team and played this equisite song at a memorial service. He played Stevie's part and I played bass. Stevie has been his idol since about the age of 5. Living in Texas, well Stevie is just a part of your heart. Loving aviation, my Dad was a pilot, I still am furious at the helicopter pilot that should have never been flying.

I saw him live twice and SO glad I did. Behind his back is enough, but to play it behind his back like THAT is just insane. Wonder what Jimi had to say when they met up in the great beyond-!

It's always a treat to see people demonstrate complete mastery at something. SRV could play the same chord changes over and over ten times, using different phrasing each time. He had so much soul and gave 100% to every single performance. You can't help but love a performer that gives you his everything.

Jimmy Hendrix played guitar behind his back, between his legs, on his shoulder, on his head, with one hand, etc. Watch Hendrix's videos. Stevie Ray was a living incarnation of Hendrix. Jimmy and Stevie Ray were the "Masters" of the guitar. They didn't play the guitar - they were the guitar! Thanks for this video always great to watch STV in action.

7:28 is exactly how you feel when you saw Stevie live. I first saw him in Austin in the early 80s at the Continental Club on South Congress Street. My reaction was almost exactly like yours. I turned to my friend and asked " What the F***? "I can't believe what I'm seeing! " Later it was " I've never heard anything like this." By the way I'm from a family of musicians. I can play a guitar well. It was just F -me, I'll never be that good. I've never seen anyone as good as him.

I seen him in 87' and 88'. Total command of his instrument and he never lost the fire up until the day he passed. He was the most unbelievable musician I've ever seen to this day. His guitar playing was ridiculous.

SRV=G.O.A.T. He was a true treasure. I always wonder what he had in store for the future before he was taken from us too soon. All that we lost do to his untimely passing. Still love him for what he gave us.

Face Melting in the highest level. He's one of the few guys who played heavy 13 gauge strings and he broke them often in live shows. I mean look at the size of his hands!!! He was a killer of guitars! Check out his original from the same show, a song called 'Lenny'. It's mind blowing! Cheers.

Many guitarists consider this the greatest performance ever captured on film. SRV has 2 fathers Albert King and Jimi Hendrix. Check them out you will love them, they are both great and they both played behind their backs!

Great reaction! If you check out other SRV reaction videos it's always the same; the listener is dumbfounded at the artistry they just watched. Stevie didn't play the blues, he felt them. He and the guitar were as one. Such a loss.

LOL one of the best SRV reactions ever. Little Wing is my favorite SRV cover of Jimi Hendrix. Also Hendrix played behind his head and with his teeth/mouth etc. Also check out the song SRV did of Tin Pan Alley.

So glad you did this for a Dallas Tx brother that grew up listening and following his work. As a drummer he had the perfect rythem backing him in more ways than one. They were his saving grace when he had to get treatment to overcome addictions that were killing him. And unfortunately four yrs later Being clean & sober dies in a ill-fated chopper crash that should of never left the pad in really bad weather. His music was so far ahead of the time like Jimmy Hendrix in so many ways using equipment that they either built or had built. I always think about how really Big they would of been if not for passing way to soon. A trend unfortunately that has & will continue with being a rock star. RIP SRV. Never Forgotten & so glad that there are so many now discovering just how talented he was. Please play his many incredible songs that were recorded. Love the podcast. .

One of a kind. He used his own mix of 13 gauge strings with high action on most of his guitars. He also used to have to superglue his fingertips back on. And he was Albert Kings godson.

@Patrol Gaming, thank you for that reaction video😊. IMO, Stevie Ray Vaughan is the best guitarist to ever walk this planet. When I watch his live performances, or listen to his studio recordings, I can only think that there are some people put on this planet that truly have been given a gift. It is through their hard work and passion, that they realize that gift, and share it with the world. I cried like a baby when I heard of Stevie Ray's passing😪. He moved me like no other musician ever has. I was lucky enough to see him live 2 times, and own his CDs and 2 videos (including his "Live at El Mocambo"). I think he is the best there has ever been, and I miss him every day😪. Thank you for this video...I enjoyed it very much🤗💖.

Stevie was a self taught guitarist that never learned to read music. Read that again, a self taught guitarist that couldn't read music. He couldn't look at a piece of music and read and understand it. He just played, and was the absolute best at a guitar. All from the heart and soul. Absolutely love any music from this guitar genius. Bad ass!
