Kenny Wayne Shepherd is definitely up high on the blues rock legends list too, but SRV opened the gates for KWS with his genius. Going to see Kenny finally in a few months. It's interesting how many better songs than "Pride and Joy" Stevie had, but that's the main song you hear places more than any other front him
I heard this song a million times but tonight in 2023 I listened on my amazing headphones and had chills going up and down my body to the point my eyes watered. SRV's sound is just true bliss! Never heard it like this before!
This is the best live blues performance of all time! I've always been partial to Mr. B.B. King, but Stevie is hands down the greatest Blues Guitarist ever!!
I was working a 2nd job to make ends meet the middle working as a bartender and Stevie Ray poured out of the juke box more than any other musician. At the end of the work day people wanted to hear and feel vibes that were truth.. Stevie Ray was the magic in the machine.
It makes my heart heavy to see this musical genius with such an old soul with wicked effect sing and play this song, and know he’s no longer with us. SRV was in a totally different realm when playing his own unique untouchable style of blues. We were lucky to have witnessed his music…
Clapton, Jimi Hendrixs, Knopflerr on bass. Never come close to Stevie. That is not an opnion, iy is a fact. Hear his fingers dancing on the strings of the guitar.
Unbelievably the best musician. Look at his sleeves soaked with sweat. Who would ever play like that today? Most magical guitarist EVER. Nothing like this today. 💔RIP to my hero. SRV🎸
This is my all-time favorite blues tune! I can't count the number of times I cranked up the volume and listened to this song in the dark while drinking a shot of whisky. What a way to end a night. Dang, I miss those days.
I stood 2 feet in front of him at festival hall in Australia, for the entire show. Changed me, changed my life. To whiteness a perfection a beauty and sunshine that glowed in front of me was just incredible. We chatted after the show, shook hands and he said “ Man it’s all in front of you, you don’t need to find it, don’t need to chase it, you have it” blew me away.
Got to see him in Destin Florida then again in Pensacola at the Sanger. got to talk to him when he was getting on the bus when he was leaving Destin unreal
Stevie Ray absolutely is one of the best of all time. I’ve recently spent a lot more time studying his playing. I wish I would’ve did that more early on. He is amazing!
I often hear people talk of how Stevie played his soul. Truth is he played our soul. He had a way of plugging in a Strat and with his unreal tone, skill and a gift only known to God of laying it down to our soul. I'll never not miss him. I'll always believe that the Angels needed him for a gig.
The angels got lucky & we lost one of our greatest! I love how you described it perfectly. I have my SRV shirt & turquoise necklace on & I am having an isolation Stevie marathon! There are other versions of this he's done for like 13 minutes where his shredding is insane. I love this one because of his vocals! Goosebumps from head to toe.....I am with you. I will never not miss him as well. Thankfully we have all his songs & some great videos to console us a little. I appreciated your great response! 😊👍👌
Imagine… your 15 and just falling in love with the blues… SRV was my introduction to not only the blues, but GOD mode guitar. Very first concert I attended.
I'll never forget that day when srv was playing with Clapton and the where going to gether and Clapton. Said l will get my own chopper otherwise they both would have died
I got to visit his grave in Dallas, Tx. I just can't explain how I felt when standing right next to one of the greatest to ever live. An amazing energy. Thank you, Stevie, for leaving your music forever. RIP
Stevie was the greatest guitarist to ever live. This is one of my favorite SRV songs. I've spent decades having to listen to this song every day several tomes a day.
If you got the ear for music you can hear how he separates him self from a lot of artists by his chee or flow his notes flow like a river just watch and keep listening and you will see
This performance was so awesome!! I have always been a huge fan of anything SRV What a great talent !!!! The way he played his voice everything about it. He was truly feeling every word of this song. When I hear one of his songs no matter what else is going on I stop and listen.
He was an artist and that strat was the canvas!!! And just look at all the pretty paintings came from it !!!! God bless him when I need a little blues he the go to man!!!!!
@@robertstultz2260 A very beautiful comment about STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN, just so perfect for him. Thank you, that made my day Robert Stulz. Forever STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN. Missed terribly.🤠🔥🤠
I saw him in Birmingham Alabama in 1985 and I have been listening to him every since. Reece wasn't with them but still had me blown away! My grandson is in his 4th year of learning to play and he loves Stevie! I got a picture of him playing Tin Pan Alley the last night!! It's now on my grandsons wall!
@@robertstultz2260 I love to hear that, It makes me feel good, and to teach another kid in his generation is even more exciting. I'mm glad you got to see STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN Last year I was on youtube and when he started playing "LIFE WITOUT YOU" I was hooked. Loved his style of playing, he owned it and ran with it. One heck of a man. Thanks for sharing that with me.🤠🔥🤠
This amazing Voice!, his amazing guitar skills, His Love For real blues..My heart is so broken for his death, he was going to be so much more!!.. A real true good human being as well, he was a Texan without hate and racism, Oh Stevie, you left us too soon..
Stevie was a gifted musician who was also a humble kind hearted man. How can a genuine talent ever be forgotten ? He will live in our 💕 hearts forever.
Such a great observation. When I pick up a guitar, I'm almost always reaching out to touch one of the greats. He owns a certain style and touch and tone like Neil Young owns the "D" chord.
Stevie was one of us, no false pretense, humble, kind, working man. He would play with the same passion in front of 5 people as he would in front of thousands.
The first time I heard this song I fell in love with it! This song defines what blues is: guitar sound, tone and playing with a blues voice to compliment it all!
People argue that he was the greatest guitar player ever, some say he's in the top five. That wasn't it, his heart is coming out of those strings. He could not play Blues, he had to "Be" Blues to play this way. He was the Blues, at his best when playing for a crowd.
As real as it gets..Recalling an interview with SRV..He was asked how did you learn to play the Blues. His Reply: "You don't learn to play the Blues you Live them" If you have never experienced that kind of pain than you wouldn't understand. Thank You for everything SRV!! God Rest and Keep your Soul
This is my favorite SRV song. Grew up on Stevie bc he was my dads all time favorite and I remember watching his videos as a kid and just being completly entranced. All I need is my guitbox and some SRV, and I get taken back to my dad teaching me guitar and jamming out. I'll always have Stevie to bring me closer to him. I know they are up there jamming out together and smiling down on me... rest in paradise kings
I had the privilege of seeing Stevie Ray in small bars and clubs throughout San Marcos and Austin in the early 1980s while going to UT. "Sweet" is an understatement. I can feel the chills run up my spine remembering his guitar teaser openings to the shows...
Old favorite of mine. I was surprised by the performance and sound quality. Great vocal track. Doesn’t seem overdubbed. First class dark Americana soul. Stevie is a bad man.
RIP Stevie, thank god for the internet, where your memory will last til the end of time!! I watch this video over and over again!! so much talent, so sadly missed..
This shoud be digitalized !! It is a such piece of art I feat these times never will get back. I am praying every day I am wrong. This is a core performance made by people who sense the vibes of true blues. Freaggin amazing!!!!! TIMELESS!!!
Was fortunate enough to see him live 5 or 6 times...My 1st concert I ever went to was during this tour- 1985 @ the Bob Carr Center in Orlando,fl. ..he came out for the encore all by himself and sat at the edge of the stage and just jammed for like 15 minutes...mind blowing how good he really was...
My best friend lives in Algonquin Illinois and he drove me up to Alpine Village Ski Resort where SRV died after a concert in 1990 and so sad to lose an awesome musician at the young age of 35!
I love Stevie Ray Vaughan especially early days before the little teenager gold digger ruined his marriage and got him to get on a helicopter. RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan 🎸
Not just because I'm a fellow Austinite and Texan but I too think SRV is one of rhe greatest guitarists who ever lived. All I know is after you listen Stevie Ray play what do you do for an Encore. 🤩
922 dislikes for the best guitarist ever lived beat drug and alcohol addiction . How could not any body y not love + admire him and his music inhis short time on this Earth .remember he passed at the age of 27 me God bless the 27 club legends Ronnie van zant Jimi Hendrix Janis Joplin Jim Morrison . Met Stevie at his place in Texas in 1980 through a mutual friend. He definitely enjoyed his Tequila, back then. A great host and one of the best humanitarians.
@@jodyrussell1447 ok bro thanks for the correction !!lgettin old miss a gear every now and then ! My opinion none better than srv. He was in class of his own mastered the guitar !
A song that touches my soul…”I know your image of me is what I hope to be”. A reminder of love and when someone leaves you and you’re alone, sing that special song! Precious memories! Thank you Ray and may you continue to rest in peace! 🙏
My Heaven is filled with with Stevie John Chris and to many to say...Life without you best describes the love we miss and will repeatedly listen to like the first time .
Love this track ...the one with Johnny Copeland was a great live version..pretty sure it was at Montreux... R.I.P SRV , it'll be a long time before we see the likes of you again...if ever
The man's got the blues. This is far beyond the level of most other guitar heroes. The phrazing sends shiver down my spine, and weekly this tune hits my player.
@@peggyconner5643 I think that was meant as a compliment, not an insult. I understand where your frustration is coming from though. From what I see in his interviews, I'm sure he would not have wanted to be called a god or a wizard. He seems like he was so down to earth just doing what made him happy in life and put his entire heart soul and being into it up until his death. A very inspiring human.
Ya know…I could watch this a thousand times and still get goose bumps… everytime he touches that guitar, he touches it perfectly… along with his singing and command of the stage….I’ve NEVER seen or heard of anyone that comes close to him with respect to guitar playing and overall performance… There simply hasn’t been…nor ever will be…anyone that comes close to Stevie Ray Vaughan…
We were the crew who shot this: Performance Video, working for John Scher but really financed by MTV for this one.... they had a series called Rock Influences. I hope we can get the original shows re-released.
Nope ! At 70 your absolutely correct! His talent only his could reach and did reach the Heavens ! He played that good that all the Angels above listened and loved him so much that when he passed they flew so fast 💨 and wrapped him in wings 🪽 and took him to go 🪽💨
