Stippling - The Easy Way

Using the OT Defense 'Thorns Tip', I will show how to stipple a Glock 44, simply.
Stippling is not rocket science. It's kind of like shooting, you only hear about the guys who have mad skills, or the guys who shoot themselves in the leg.... there are far more of us in the middle making good shots and doing it safely. Be smart. Practice. Act like a grown up, if you have questions, ask! You'll see on my watch in the video, this frame took me 1hour and 20 minutes. Not trying to stay on camera and yack through most of it, would have resulted in under an hour for the stipple job.

I've done a few gun's and practiced a lot on A2 grips. I'm getting several of your tip and the burner, there on there way to me. What I've done has been the simple random sandpaper with a fine tip and they have turned out really good. I'm trying to make up my mind if I want to do my gen4 G19. It has a good stipple from the factory. Pretty much the same I've done already. It would definitely look better if I did a stipple job on it. I'm going to wait until I get the tips from OT Defense and practice with them for a little while.

Not cleaning the tip enough is the mistake I made with my cyan G2C and a square waffle tip. I have since cleaned off most of the discoloration, and I'm debating on whether I want to redo it or go the color grit route. My XD9, I didn't have to clean the tip once, and it turned out flawless.
@OTDefense
@OTDefense Год назад
You are correct. Colored frames it is imperative to keep the tip clean. If you're happy with the stipple job I'd leave it, as some of the 'well burnt' material is already imbedded into the frame and may remain if you restipple it.
@justinmcwilliams6759
@justinmcwilliams6759 Год назад
@@OTDefense I've already cleaned off the stippling, and I'm going to sandblast it with aluminum oxide to clear up the rest of the discoloration. depending on how it looks after that, I may leave it (and just recut the borders of the grip areas). If it isn't enough grip for me, I will totally stipple it again, but this time I will have a wire brush/brass wool handy to clean the tip.

If you are asking does the frame crack after stippling, no. You are simply moving the material around via heat. My main Glock has been stippled and re-stippled (because everything wears off with enough use) and been shot thousands of times over the past 15 years. No issues.

Some of our tips are small and designed for single presses. Most however, are designed to cover more material than not, and provide the customer with a good texture, applied in a way that makes the job faster, so they can get back to shooting. Sorry you don't like my tone, some folks don't like Donald Trumps tone, but it is a free country (somewhat...) and folks can take business and votes elsewhere. I prefer to be brutally honest with my customers, so they have realistic expectations of what they can do, rather than sell them a a dream of being able to nail the basket weave tip with stippled borders and shoot like John Wick simply by giving me money :)
