In my opinion the best atv as far as rideability and reliability. I bought a new one in the fall of 98 and still am riding it to this day. I also have a 13 450er and would have to say unless you're racing and running full out hard-core all the time you'll get more good out of the 400 no doubt. Thanks for the vid
Dream quad right here. Saving up for a 2008+ 400ex. Never have rode a sport quad, but I really want this thing! Can't explain the feeling i get whenever I see a video of one of these! Absolutely love it!
I love my 2013 I bought it just a week or two after this video come out.I was already thinking pretty hard about getting one then I seen this and made up my mind pretty quick. No regrets
400 for life!!!! It's a heck of a hill climber and it can take a flip like its nothing. If you're good at leaning she's good at hanging turns. I love my ole Big Bird with binoculars.
The deposit was in... Patiently waiting for my first 99... While no one had seen the new beasts, Dirt Wheels puts out their first article on one.. I was tore up boys........... Wait a minute, I drifted back into the past for a second.😬😬☁☁☁ Owned a few 400s, including 3 new ones. They had a huge hand in redefining the sport quad industry.. Tough machines... You boys havin to much fun. Keep it up... 👍👍 #savesportquads #makeatcsgreatagain
@@DirtObseXXion Alrighty I rode back in high school but now in my mid 30's I'm getting the itch to get back into it. I'm in the same size category as you gents. I'm torn between going Grizzly 700 so I could potentially use this as dual duty (riding and plowing snow) and going used Raptor 660 and used utility quad for plowing. I'm up in Wisconsin and trails are mostly flatter dirt and woods riding. Ease of putting one in the back of an F150 is a huge plus too. Thoughts?
@@LacesOut85 The Grizzly is my favorite utility ATV and I'll never not have a Raptor so great choices.. I would say look for a 2015+ Raptor 700 instead of the older 660.. 2015 was the last updated year so it will have the best aftermarket support and the chassis improved when they switched to 700.. Grizzly vs Raptor comes down to your personal pros cons list either will be fun... I'd stay away from 16-18 model year Grizzlies especially 16.. They had a temporary 708 Subaru motor that had issues in 2016..
We have A Pair of 400's 2008 400EX, and A 2014 400 X. Both have 450R shocks • Rock risers on the handle bar for a more comfortable ride • +6 Chrome Molly A-Arms • +4 Extended Rear Hubs We Love the way they handle, Yes I could use more power, but We really enjoy them.
It has one of the best handling and had the best balance point for wheelies or getting the front up or light for a log or creek of any atv I've ever been on. I had mine bored to a 416 w stage 2 cam head port and polish, jet kit and pipe and it would stay w my buddies yfz 450 thru third but after 3rd he would ease on by. I had a lowering kit on back of mine that was on it when I bought it, idk nothing about them, even if they make them to lower the front also but it made it alot more stable w trails where you can't go wider on alot of trails. Very reliable even w the work I had done to it, jus keep valves adjusted and every now and then a head gasket if you choked it off very much.
I’ll never forget the day I got my brand new 400EX. It was 2001 and I was 17. I got a shiny new yellow one and everybody called it the Killer Bee 🐝 😎. It had a Rebel Racing decal on the front which was a Rebel flag and checkered Flagg crossing each other ( I can’t find them anymore!). I rode the hell out of that machine daily for 13 years. Never once let me down. It was a fantastic machine. Left it stock other than a pipe. It would do 74mph on the pavement with me on it which was verified by a Kentucky state trooper 😂😂😂
I have one of these, bought it in 2017. I can clean it up, and it is still show room. Last month I put all new tires on it, all the way around, and bought the same ones that came on it out of the crate. The original ones were dry rotting. It is a damn good trail riding machine. The more aggressive you ride it, the better it feels. I’m about 160lbs and the suspension is stiff in my opinion
Great machines! I had an 01 a long time ago and thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread at the time. I'm sure that if they came with odometers, some would read 1,000,000 miles by now 😆
Was also considering a 400x as a second machine to my raptor. Just haven't rode one, and thinking it would feel weak. I do like the looks of the later models.
Hahahahaha! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Warm apple pie! What a time to be alive Chad. I looked at buying a 400 in 98. Oh man, I had never considered the cc per lb ratio until just now. I will never shop for another machine without considering this EVE again. Lol. I appreciate the seksy pron music no doubt sourced from the Viking's own only fans page. All the ladies wanna snuggle with that soup catcher on a chilly night. I'm jealous. Haha! Great video Dirt Obsexxion Squad! We'll see you all next one.
Always wanted the 400ex, but I've never had the opportunity. Started out on a Warrior 350 as my first sport quad then put my then gf on it and got a LTZ 400. Haven't ridden quads in almost 10yrs at this point, but the 400's are back on my radar.
Love the videos you guys put out! Did you ever put anything after market on this bike? Did you like the results after? If so it’d be awesome for a follow up video! Thanks guys!
Thanks! And no, when we grab a mint machine like this we always want to keep it stock.. Mainly because it's getting harder to find them in stock form anymore.. If we get something that's ragged out or had mods already then we'll do some work on it.. This one was a gem though..
Great vid…picked up a pretty mint 99 abt a yr ago. Totally love it. Put a Wiseco 11:1 piston in it & a stage 1 hotcam…rips pretty good now. You guys ever find an LTZ-400? Would love to see a 400 shootout vid
You found the right channel! Are you looking for a sport quad or a 4x4? Generally speaking a 400ex, ltz400, or kfx400 are easier to ride and require less maintenance than the 450 class. Same is true for a Raptor 700.. Stick with the Japanese quads too.. everything else is harder to maintain and harder to find parts.. Email me if you have more questions dirtobsexxion@gmail.com
@@DirtObseXXion thanx, only upgrades I'm going to do is get rid of the pogo's and do 450r shocks then skid plate for this year. Then find a beat up one for crude bashing, can't hurt the trailer queen lol
I got a 2012 Trx 400x I bought off of Facebook market place all stock except a dg slip on I’m not sure if I’ll ever get rid of it if I do i now I’ll regret it
Lol! This one came up in Louisville and FB snagged it in the first 2hrs.. We found out later that 3 other guys we know were after it too... They don't last long if they're clean and priced right..
@@DirtObseXXion That is true if there’s clean ones are nice ones out there you got to be in the DM’s in the first five minutes Even have A chance get that thing
I had a raptor 700se but had to sell it due to hard times. But I would like to know what y’all think about the trx 700xx I haven’t much about one of those
Nope.. There's certain machines that are worth more to us stock.. The 400x is one of them, our LTR is another.. We just built a Raptor and are working on an 450r tho..
