I am also facing the same issue as Jasmine except for the thing I actually married the man, how foolish of me to do so. Till now he offers me zero amount of time. I was begging for his time for his love and affection. I openly expressed my feelings many times, but I don't think he listened. Nothing changed. He always prioritizes others or other things over me. Just now I realize how shameless I am to do so. You can't ever demand someone's love and time. I have lost my dignity and self respect by doing so. Though I try to give my 100% in this relationship and trying to gain happiness by doing each and every thing for him. I am really unhappy.

I don't think a man in his 40s who is having an affair will stop if confronted by his teenage daughter. It's a very sad situation. He may feel guilty but become cleverer about hiding it. Prachi, your advice for the mom is good. The only danger here is that this lady is emotionally vulnerable because she knows her husband has had an affair. I hope she does not have an affair to assuage her own hurt heart or vanity. In one's 40s one is less idealistic than in one's youth.
