Today we walk around El Mercado De Abastos in Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico and talk about why you should finally make the leap of faith in yourself and move to Mexico. We all know it won't be easy but it's something you have been thinking about for far too long and always finding an excuse or reason not to follow through. So it's time to stop complaining and do something about it once and for all. #Mexico #Mercadodeabastos #guadalajara

Hi Jose. I've been in a hiatus, sort of. Finally, my husband, finally, is coming to grips to seeing the light. It's a good thing that I know where my great grand parents were from in Mexico. I thank God that my Grandmother, (God Rest Her Sweet Soul), grilled it into my head. She literally told me: " One day you may need to know where your great-grands were from in Mexico, so pay attention grand-daughter." And I did. I'm so grateful to her for giving me all the "Pearls of Wisdom" that she did. You see, my grandmother was born in the United States and I believe that my grandfather was also born in the United States on both my mother's and father's side. So, I'm going to have to lean and rely on my great-grands, (God Rest Their Sweet Souls), names and place of birth in Mexico to help me, when we make our move. I'm wondering if that's possible? I never thought that I'd be leaving my beloved United States. However, I guess, that sometimes, we have to return to our roots. My choice from the great -grands is either Spain, or, Mexico. So, here I go. I'm going to re-visit your past videos to see the how-to's in moving. Any suggestions on which ones I should review? Thank you for your help in this matter. I'll most likely have to get in contact with you for advice. I'll also be looking for legal advice as well. I need a starting point. I'll be checking on RU-vid comments for your reply. Again, thanks for your help in this matter.

Great video! This episode's message is right on. I work for a US company Monday through Friday so my work life in Mexico is pretty much the same as it would be north of the Rio Grande but on Friday afternoon after clocking out I am mentally and emotionally in Mexico! My wife and I have a few drinks and listen to all kinds of music. It is such a 180 mentally. Unfortunately during the week I stick to my American work schedule and soak up US news and politics. Maybe that is because we live right across the border? Peace out!

It's easier when you're younger, and if you speak Spanish. I'm in Merida right now, and although its beautiful and I am enjoying it, I don't think I could live here. I'm used to driving, and I've been walking everywhere and it's very difficult in the heat. And I'm a lot older than you. I went to the streets where the Mexicans shop in centro yesterday and it was overwhelming. Some people here don't like Americans too much. I've had people that were very rude to me. Most people are very nice though. The city traffic, the small sidewalks, and the heat, the exhaust from cars, and the construction dust on ave 60. I'm having a hard time Jose. 😅 🙂

Not everyone can take the heat ... Some LOVE It... My self I am crazy about Central Mexico near Puebla City... You do need a car if you do not live near the Center or near a Transportation Hub... (and they are sprinkled around the skirts of the city>) Some people think they want Beach life, but there are those rare times when strong WINDS or Thunder storms arrive. The thing about Mexico is there is a Climate for everyone!! I traveled to an area in the Mountains where it never gets HOT, and is quite comfortable . But if you don't speak Spanish You might find another place more comfortable. )

@JoseArteagaTravels 3 месяца назад
Sorry to hear that! Perhaps you can try another city in Mexico. It is a huge country like the USA and each place is very different and unique. Perhaps a place with a milder climate and one you can drive in might be better suited for you. Either way keep looking around I am sure you will find your happy place! Thanks for sharing!

@@JoseArteagaTravels yeah, it's not so much the heat. I lived in Atlanta for13 years which is very hot. It's not knowing the language too well, and all the dirt because they're doing a lot of construction, in the fumes from the cars. Many people don't like Americans here. Because of the gentrification I think. But I met some lovely people and some great food and many other things. It's a beautiful city and I did make some friends.

Jaja actually this is not a grocery store. The grocery stores out here in Mexico look just like the ones in your neighborhood and in many cases even fancier than a whole foods or other specialty market. This is actually a wholesale market that supplies small businesses and restaurants but is also open to the public and anyone can come out here and purchase items that come straight from the farm or off the truck/boat. It really is nice to have a market like this in your backyard and here in Guadalajara there are many markets like this. This is just the main central hub where everything first arrives and gets dispersed throughout the city and the rest of the country. Glad you enjoyed the tour of El Mercado de Abastos!

It is all good to relocate when time is right. No matter where one moves from, remember why it is one choses that country. In the case of Mexico, it is friendly, happy and laid back. Do not try to change that as in recent cases trying to change the music culture and vibes of the Mexican people. There are cities that are quiet 🤫 and calm by its own Mexican culture, if that is what one is seeking go there. Mexico lindo y querido, is what it is today by its history, do not confront and expect to change such beauty with what one is leaving behind. Pleasant travel and journey.

*I give you a great recommendation so that no one abuses you and you spend your money better* If you came to Mexico, investigate how much it costs to rent a home in the area before renting it, ask several people about the houses that you like, ask them The people who live in that area remember each area then look for the house and rent the one you like remember each city and town changes the price, do not pay more because over time you only harm yourself and you will harm others because the People who rent increase their rents however they want, I pay $1,800 pesos MX. I live in Moroleón Gto. In Mexico it is frowned upon if you pay more than what things are usually worth, don't be embarrassed, the people are mostly very friendly and if you don't act like a local you will be rejected because you generate price increases and people have to leave. the surroundings of that community and adapt to being in Mexico. Mexico will not suit you if you like quiet places, they exist, you just have to ask, greetings...

Despite the fact that in the United States there has always been a very bad press with Mexico, I have to admit that those who end up appreciating my country are always foreigners. Despite the love-hate relationship between Mexicans and Americans, we must also admit that we depend on each other economically: the United States and Mexico are, potentially, the most powerful commercial power in the world: if we stopped seeing each other as enemies and began to see each other as deep allies, no one in the world would be able to compete against us.

Get on the struggle bus like our immigrant friends in San Francisco. I spent yesterday in Colma at a funeral for coach who immigrated from Soviet Union in the early 1990’s. Realized how complicated it is to pull together a multicultural person who lived in so many places. It would be interesting to learn how different funeral arrangements would be in Mexico versus USA. Life and death are intertwined a clothing for the soul divine.

I was on a dating app for Mexico and I'm still here in the us. I was telling her how I wanted to move to Mexico and she said that I was identifier and I shouldn't come to her country. I tried to explain what you were saying Jose about how most of the people that are gentrifying are actually Mexican people and not Americans but she kept giving me a hard time about it so I'm wondering if this is how a lot of Mexican people feel? She basically started an argument with me and shame me and put me down for wanting to come and live in Mexico and I said this probably isn't going to be a good fit for dating when someone's trying to shame me for moving to their country and adding to their economy and wanting a better life

@JoseArteagaTravels
@JoseArteagaTravels 3 месяца назад
Funny how she matched with you and yet went on ahead to scold you while also being interested in you. 😅 Honestly the reality is that there are a lot of interests out there that are trying to deflect the truth and blame everything on immigrants and foreigners because they dont want the people blaming the real culprit which is other Mexicans. Again as I've mentioned before who are the business owners and landlords raising the prices? It's other Mexicans. That is the hard pill many do not want to swallow even though it is staring at them in the face. A common phrase that most Mexicans say which I have been hearing ever since I've been in Mexico is "A Mexicans Worst Enemy is Another Mexican". Funny how most Mexicans say this yet they refuse to acknowledge that Mexicans are the ones Creating and Causing all this gentrification, which by the way is not all bad, many Mexicans are actually happy to have new and nice things as would most people. I would say the younger generations are more likely to blame gentrification on Foreigners just like the younger generations in other countries blame everything on capitalism. Similar argument.

What are people doing who can’t afford temporary residency? Are there a lot of people who are successful entering/leaving/entering every 180 days? Is it really a viable option?
@JoseArteagaTravels
@JoseArteagaTravels 2 месяца назад
That's a great question! What people do is that they go on Visa Runs every 180 days to get their new Visas and stay another 180 days and once you have done that a few times you qualify for the RNE program which grants you a 4 year Temporary Residency without having to provide any financial solvency of any kind. You just have to prove you have been living in Mexico on a tourist visa or any other kind of visa which should be easy to do since you can prove it with the stamps on your passport. You can watch this video I did with Jose Novelo a Local Mexican Lawyer and he explains it in more detail ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XH9lxrAehSU.html

While it's clear there are parts of Mexico that are relatively safe and comfortable, I believe the country will take a downward turn in the coming decades, not unlike the United States and many Western European countries. The organized crime in Mexico is out of control, and nobody seems to be able to do anything about it other than let it metastasize. You'll wind up becoming a Sicily where the only people that can get on there are the locals who know each other and what's going on behind closed doors - lol. Expats from the U.S. and Canada will eventually leave because the country will return to what it used to be, which is similar to Equador and Nicarauga's current situation. I would LOVE to move to Mexico ... LOVE TO... but I see where things are going and it's not looking good.
