Hi Micha, I wanted to ask you two questions that I was wondering about and thought you may know the answer to: 1.Why is there a clear advantage for being lean, i.e. having low body-fat percentage for lifting heavy weights in street lifting exercises like dips and pull-ups, but there isn't such an advantage for the squat? (In the squat you also lift your body-weight) 2. Why are sprinters taking creatine but gymnasts / calisthenics athletes don't? In both sports you care about relative strength, and in both sports the athletes are very lean and muscular. FitnessFAQ said he doesn't recommend creatine for people that want to specialize in calisthenics because you will gain some weight from taking creatine, but if this weight is really not helpful as he suggest, then why do sprinters take creatine? Wouldn't extra weight make them slower?

I think your statement are just your personal experience and don’t cover a wide spectrum of athletes as I can give you many examples where the statements are not true, so my first tip would be to challenge these beliefs. 1. a surplus increases your recovery ability. A squat workout is usually more demanding and challenging for the whole body so a surplus helps for those lifts. Also it’s not as prone for changes in bw as pull are. 2. I am not an expert in nutrition so I don’t want to go to deep into this, but I know a lot of calisthenics athletes as well as track and field athletes who supplement creatine 👍🏻

@@MichaSchulz Maybe you're right and these are just my believes and they are not always true in general. 1. When you say that a surplus increases recovery ability, do you mean that having a higher fat percentage compared to low fat percentage is better for recovery? If that's what you mean, I have to say that I'm a bit surprised as I've heard that having better cardiovascular health increases recovery and I would imagine that usually leaner people have better aerobic capacity. And what do you mean by "not as prone for changes in bw as pull"? I think that this is my question - why exactly are squats less affected by bw? I mean you can see very heavy (and fat) powerlifters squatting very high weights, but for street lifters you can't really be truly fat if you want to be very good at pull-ups. 2. That's interesting to hear, I honestly don't really know whether most professional calisthenics athletes take creatine or not because I rarely hear people in the community talk about it, as opposed to the sprinting world where pretty much everyone takes creatine. From the few sources that I did found talking about creatine for calisthenics - like fitnessFaq, they seem to be against it usually. I'm very interested - do you take creatine personally? From your experience from other professional calisthenics athletes do they usually take creatine?
