Good info on proper technique. There is a reason why the push-up is a main stay of military conditioning. Have been training for 40+ years and still incorperate push-ups in my routine. Can't stress enough how beneficial this exercise for young people starting their work out life style.

There's no mistakes- simply different loading of different groups of muscles.Depends on what exactly you need to develop.Instead of "correct" and "wrong"- better to say "efficient"/"nonefficient" for the certain muscles.

Thx Renshaw. I'm 57 yrs young and want to get back into it. When I was in my 20's, 30's, and early 40's I had a decent chest. In my 50's I fell off. What can I do to get into it safely yet get some results? Thx if you answer. Have a good holiday season!

Bro you have awesome triceps and overall a well proportioned physique. One question. How many repetitions of of this technique would you recommend? I used to do 30 to 60 the WRONG way until my osteopath told me to tuck my elbows in just like you say in your first point. I now do 15 reps much slower focusing on form. Thanks for the extra points on technique and form. Your feedback would be appreciated.

Info is good, but there's lots of vids of this out there for several years.... It's basic stuff in the callisthenics community. ;) But hey you're right, most regular people do them wrong and can't even perform one pushup with good form.

Nu questions is what should i do when i have a big belly and if i keep my back straight the belly will touch floor first. Should i keep my but a littlebit back so i can touch the floor with my chest .

First I love your channel. I wanted to know do you think I can do pushups instead of benching while I let my rotator cuff injury heal?

I am by no means an expert. I did push-ups when I had a rotator cuff injury and it worked well for me. I did four sets starting with 20 reps each and added 5 pushups per set each week. I didn't feel any pain, my injury was a strain and not a tear.

Hello quincy dean, Have you tried suspension training pushups..TRX would be a brand name..you can work a lot of muscle groups and help strengthen stabilizer muscles also. it is a good recovery program workout and then you can use it as an advance workout as the shoulder area heals. I like handstand pushups with my suspension training now that my shoulder has healed.

Renshaw..... If I get in the pushup position with my hands on a scale.. and read 165lbs... does that mean that I'm pushing 165lbs? I know it's not the same as benchpress

Where do you place grip for hitting outer chest pushups then? Dontchu have to have a wide grip?

Shoulder width grip, go all the way and all the way up. Do them with a smooth, controlled tempo.

I used to do 50 push ups (wrong way), now I can only do 17 (right way). Thanks a lot, but I guess I have to do them without fans because my friends knew I was the best. You have a subscriber
