Cars swamped by emergency flash flood in Yonkers, New York! Over 4” of rainfall triggered this dangerous urban flash flood just north of New York City, almost a year after the devastating floods from Hurricane Ida
Please cover more flooding situations. The destruction of water from flash flooding has taken so many lives unnecessarily. Yes, people, some people, do not understand the warning of flash flooding. In many rural mountain areas there is not any way to warn, as there are sirens for tornado's. I believe there should be a siren to activate in rural mountain towns for flash flooding. I believe that the USGS , U.S Army Corps of Engineers, and the States need more water gages on every minor to major creek and river and monitors. Then an alarm can be activated according, beginning with the local/rural fire stations alarms. What do you think Reed???? Thank you for the videos. Stay Safe!
I agree Missy! We need a denser network of reporting stations for flooding - not just mountain flash floods but storm surges and all aspects of flooding. Live streaming sensors like the Surginators to fill the gaps. I’ll continue to chase these floods. Stay safe out there
Way to go Reed, it's not always about "tornadoes", meteorologists report on every storm and what effects the storm could bring, like FLOODING...and sinkholes.
Excellent footage. Thank you for coming to NYS and the suburbs of Westchester County. I’m in Orange County, NY and appreciate you being here. Please come back for a good snow storm.
Dear brothers, I am from India I have a question for my brothers living in USA tornado alley area. Why people there make wood houses? Why no one makes steel reinforced concrete and brick houses like we do here in india. I am pretty sure solid steel reinforced concrete houses will withstand even an f5 tornado. Love and blessings to all of you.
Wow he is near White Plains! I grew up in No. Westchester County, lived in White Plains and Chappaqua, How cool and unexpected would it be to be in friggin Yonkers and look up and see Reed reporting on the side of the road!!! : )
I live on Long Island in Nassau county…..we don’t always get flooding like that here, unless it’s in Freeport which the south part of Freeport is surrounding by the bay which goes to Jones Beach. Out in Suffolk county especially towards the Montauk and even the north shore….they get lots of storms and floods.
We were southbound on Amtrak just north of NYC at that same time. It was nuts. Tracks were filling up with water and power to the train was knocked out for a few minutes.
Hey Reed Timer. I commended you for doing a livestream and videos in the worst weather conditions and while chasing a storm even when there is severe interference while live-streaming.
Omg! Be careful! We need you to be safe we’ll reporting! You are the best! I’m not sure why they did not close that road? Our city does this in the underpasses when we get 40mm or more. People know this but still drive under them and get trapped.
I feel for those folks. We see that type of flash flooding almost every year here in Kansas City. The years it doesn't happen is actually bad news because it means it's going to be a bad drought year. And it is. it also usually means that late August to late September, near constant rain, too late to help with growing crops, and instead destroying what did manage to grow.
We see rain like this sometimes in the PNW we flooded hard this year cause of all the snow and rain.. most places from the upper part of Washington to parts of Oregon were land locked in place
This is a couple hours from me. I live on shoreline connecticut and we only got hit w some drizzles and light thunder. Preparing for hurricane season though. KOC
Reed, I use to live in Yonkers NY. There are a few cities between Yonkers and White Plains. So where exactly Was this footage from. I don't recognize the street.
This reminds me of the time we had a major storm land directly and a friend called me and asked me how we were doing. I said fine so far Jim Cantore is not in my front yard yet. Now days if it happens again I will be looking for Reed in my front yard filming. (How do you know you are weather screwed -> Reed is filming in your town/yard)
