Cab Calloway was a HUGE artist back in his day. Big Band music was the Rock and Roll of that time. The Nicholas Brothers were nothing less than amazing. Athlete's that could dance.

The “1 take” thing is a common misconception. This was not done in one take but is still phenomenal nonetheless.
@YllonaRichardson
@YllonaRichardson Год назад
@@NoctemAeternusMusic More accurately, the dance sequence was performed after one “rehearsal” take, as the Nicholas Brothers had an active and very popular nightclub act at the time, thus (contractually) had limited time off for filming.

I understand them doing the splits, but having the inner thigh muscles to just slide back up to a standing position just blows my mind!

Adogg, I want to thank you so much for bringing all of this older beauty to the notice of this generation. The songs and this dance routine deserve to be remembered by people much younger than me, but are being forgotten. Keep up the awesome content. ❤️

Amazing one take and no rehearsal. They were incredible dancers! One of the brothers was also in the movie "Tap" with Gregory Hinz and Sammy Davis Jr. and several other legendary dancers. Check the clip called either The Challenge or Challenge Dance from the movie, it's on RU-vid.

One take is more than possible, but without rehearsal is just fiction. It's simply not possible to do a routine like this, no matter how talented the dancer, without rehearsing it.

... The brothers danced together for years ... Timing instinct and practice, practice, practice ... ... The Nicholas Brothers were biological brothers, Fayard (1914-2006) and Harold (1921-2000) ... ... In this movie Fayard was 29 and Harold was 22 ... Cab Calloway - Born: December 25, 1907, Rochester, NY - Died: November 18, 1994, Hockessin, DE ... In this movie he was 36 ... ( Love Google )

One problem... this ain't 'Stormy Weather', it's 'Jumpin' Jive'. If you notice, as the people come on the dance floor, that's Lena Horne coming on stage. In the movie, this is where she sings 'Stormy Weather'.

ADogg, I follow your other channel that you started more recently. I'm glad you're doing so well. God bless you. I've watched this video countless times and actually many other Nicholas Brothers videos. They are fabulous. They used gymnastics in their routines. Watch Gal From Kalamazoo. Also, Lucky Number, when they were younger. They did this in one take. Also, Fayard, the older brother thought of the idea to slide down in splits at the end.

First with music like that you do not need a gym. All that bouncing to the music. The Nicholas Bros. No one could match them. It is said they had one rehearsal and was done straight through. Now if you don't mind I am going to get an ice pack. It hurt watching that.
