STRANDED Part 2 - Here's what broke on my 2022 RAM 2500 

My former Cummins would set off a check engine light 3 times per yr on average, the dealer would charge me $100 to clear the code, in return the engine ran better but this got old and ultimately I went back to a gasser... my 6.4 does everything i ask it to from haul a 40 ft toy hauler RV and pull my dump trailer with 6 tons of cr2..don't miss the diesel one bit..good luck

Hopefully these issues get resolved quickly. These trucks are so complicated nowadays. I'm sure once you get past this problem, that truck will perform really well and be reliable for you. I've got a 2014 Cummins and it's been the best truck I've ever owned. (And I've owned them all!)

Bought myself 2013 ram 2500 Cummings diesel in 2013 as a retirement present for myself. and in 2016 I traded it in for a gas version 6.4 , not because I wanted to because nobody could fix it. It spent more time in the dealership than it did on the road. still have my 2016 over 100 K runs like a top. and the fact of the matter is none of these dealerships have figured out DEF yet my nephew works in a Chevy dealer and told me definitely do not buy a Chevy diesel I know not to buy a ram diesel and I know Ford has had their issues. made me sick I spent a lot of money on that first one and I really wanted a diesel but the EPA killed it.

Thanks for the update. I also got the DEF limp mode of death message once going do the road. I pulled off and cycled the power on/off a few times and it went away as someone recommended. Hasn't come back in over 2k miles. Also, another person told me to keep the DEF topped off all the time. Not sure what that buys but now I fill it every time I fill at the station.

It's best to take that thing to Canada and have some parts fall off of it.

As a former tech at several dealers I will tell you most advisors have not a clue about cars/trucks. They Riley their best to regurgitate what the tech told them. Talk to the tech, not the advisor.

Like your videos and keep them coming. Im a new subscriber. I just sold my 2022 GMC Sierra 6.6 gasser and picked up a 2022 GMC Sierra 6.6 duramax. Both purchased new. Just came back from a 2000mile camping trip and have about 14000 miles on it. My brother owns a mechanic shop and told me not buy the disel, he said that’s ford, gm, ram all have def issues but the torque is incomparable and I always wanted one. Hopefully it works out for u and me too lol.

So glad I went with gasoline and not diesel there's always something wrong with a diesel truck

The PCM on these trucks are exposed to the elements. I wonder if some water got in one of your connections. I surely hope the PCM fixes your issues but these newer diesels have nothing but problems mainly with the emissions crap. Outside of that they really are reliable. I also have a 22 and feel lucky mine has been good so far, granted it only has 6,000 mi on it. Also, if you are driving when the countdown reaches 0 the truck won't be limited to 5mph until you turn it off and back on. As for code reading you need to buy a jumper harness if you want to clear codes. The harness hooks into your OBD port. There is a security feature that needs bypassed.

our international trucks and my work equipped with the cummins motors and no they are not 6.7s have def sensor issues. Cummins issued a temp fix of reprograming the pcm to ignore the def warning and keep trucks going. it still requires us to keep the tank topped off sice the gauge is inop . supposivily due to shortage of chips and crappy ones availible is why they can do this. betting the same should be true in the ram. when quality chips are available they will put it back to normal opperations. that was per Cummins not international

I had limp mode in my 21’. The cold temps made the def freeze and it wasn’t melting properly. My new 22’ has major Uconnect 5 issues and some kind of tranny issue, but the dealer doesn’t know because it doesn’t happen when look at it. Probably won’t be buying another Ram. I also had a camera fail on my 21.

Never been a fan of Dodge, Had one years go, that did it for me.

For some reason, some 2022 are having a DPF issue. I watch PD Diesel who owns a hot shot business and run about 20 Ram trucks. He just did a video or two on the 22’s and why he thought the 21’s were the best new 5th gen Ram. You should check out his channel if you already don’t. He does usually run only 1 ton high output trucks but maybe some of the issues he’s seen on the 22’s might be similar. Any way, I hope everything gets worked out soon.

Any of the newer diesel trucks = Problems!! I have a 2020 Ram and it's had DPF,DEF, problems since new!! as soon as its out of Warranty it's going on a Weight Lose Program 😂

At this point I just feel sorry for the ignorant new RAM buyers. Or any 2022+ Diesel. They are nothing but problems. This is the 5th video I have seen of the 2022 RAM breaking down majorly. Countless videos of DEF systems causing problems in every vehicle made with it now. So either delete it or put up with a broken vehicle most the time. But first step is to just NOT buy them.

Just best to avoid all 21-22 trucks. Nothing but issues. And, really, modern diesels if you can. If you can pull your rig with a gasser do it.

Please post a video about how deep in the wilderness you can abandon that junk for the repo man who drives the same model..

I got 2022 dodge ram 3500 ho my first desiel vehicle there is a learning curve. Attempting to do better than recommended maintenance i use hot shot fuel additives

Diesels are a pain in the butt . If you do a lot of heavy towing then get a diesel. DEF, Regen, Fuel filters, DPF, EGR, high diesel prices and complex maintenance are all negatives . I traded my 2015 diesel in for a good price and bought a Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi at list. I have been surprised at the power, the v8 sounds great and is much simpler, runs on regular gas no def etc.

Electronic issues? What a surprise 😮

Cummins supplies the engine and Ram Does the programming/electronic/warranty. Not just a Ram is issue, but auto makers wide.

A lot of the time it boils down to human error,,,unfortunately people think they can drive normally while pulling heavy loads or they seen their truck in a commercial half submerged in water\mud & think they can do it with their truck anytime.😂well that’s not the case, when off roading or pulling heavy loads make sure your truck is equipped for the conditions. If your driving in mud or water make sure your truck has skid plates protecting your undercarriage & electrical components. While pulling heavy loads people shouldn’t accelerate quickly all the time as it will cause transmission issues sooner than later😂

The 2022 Rams are also having transmission issues

Maybe just see if he will speak off camera angle. He gets to not be seen and you get a more detailed explanation.

No, the fun of having a new truckis not having a break down. If you look at owning a new truck is having a break down then just buy a old wore out truck.
