Eddie was the first rockstar in the Upside Down for a reason. Watch as the cast watches that epic scene for the first time and see for yourself what happens to Eddie's famous guitar.
u can tell he was having fun with it he didnt want to leave he wanted to participate much more in the show... yeah money is important but i can tell he wanted to continue working with these dudes.
@@MrGenexxx Yah but you have to remember that that is still an opinion. So there may be many facts within the season that make it weak, or boring, but what really make it Good, OR Bad, is the audience! The audience has all their own ways of seeing it, so there are many people that agree with you and many people that disagree! imo, this season was my favorite because of the Horror aspect and it kinda gave a satisfying story where the end explains all the way back to the beginning, so i thought it had very well story telling. and question: what was your favorite season that you thought was the strongest? just curious cuz you said this was the weakest!
Never thought I'd cry like a baby when Eddie died. Cried even more when Dustin broke the news to his uncle. He's fun, he's funny, he's grass and he's metal. It's such a heartfelt tragedy that he died.
That's the most heavy metal scene ever - a kick-ass guitar solo, post-apocalyptic-like backdrop, hellish bats, red lightning. Banging my head just thinking about it.
She was definitely watching the finished scene for the first time there. It's super common for actors to not watch the completed project when it's done, she was probably blown away by how it all came together with the VFX added.
Yet I always felt like that - **(personally)** - Metallica’s “Master Of Puppets” just goes well for any- like over-the-top action shoot-out sequence. Since it *is* one of the songs that inspired “Doom E1M1”, or better known as “At Doom’s gate”.
I agree... In my opinion, I think they should have killed off Max, and had Eddie survive. Not because I don't like Max but because it was too obvious she was going to survive, it would have been a hell of a lot more of a surprise.
"We aaarree not heroes." Same thing happened with Alexi. As soon as the words "When I'm an American Citizen" came out of his mouth I knew that giant russian man was going to find him. Same thing with Hopper at the end of season 3. And Max this season. As soon as characters make plans for the future, they're as good as dead.
@@bradymcconnell Billy was a bully and an abusive brother. He treated Max like garbage pretty much their whole lives. He brought the mind flayer the majority of its victims and caused a lot of deaths. Billy beat and nearly killed the entire group, including El. Billy is known throughout the town as a hero for dying in the "fire" trying to save the kids. Eddie was a kind man being terrorized by the town. He was completely innocent in regards to the murders, but takes all the blame. He loved his friends and died a hero saving all of their lives. Eddie is known throughout the town as a satan-worshipping, satan-possessed serial murderer and as responsible for the town being almost completely destroyed.
This why stranger things is so good, not only because of the cast, it's because of how they play their character, that's how we get attached to new characters like Eddie, or Alexei, or Bob, the death scene for Eddie was so touching because of Gaten matarazzo and Josephs Quinn's incredible acting skills
Just love the mix of Maya Hawk’s shocked expression, and Joe Keery’s very passionate “aw yeah buddy”. Really just sums up how we all reacted to this scene
I mean theres a chance they hadnt seen the finished product before. A lot of actors dont want to go watch themselves in a 10+ hour long season when they just spent years making it
"It makes me like metal" damn right it does, Eddie is a character that makes modern day audiences not judge the metal head they see walking down the street because after seeing him in Stranger Things people realise there's a person under it all who isn't intimidating and has a lot more to give if you just strike up a conversation with them 🤟
Yeah, my brother’s in a metal band. I did some vocals with them once and was TERRIFIED, but it turns out I had no reason to be. They were all pretty cool. (Small plug: they’re called Exemptus and they’re pretty damn good, if I do say so myself).
Eddie’s character was based off of Damien Echols, who was a part of the west Memphis 3. An outsider, accused of a crime he didn’t commit because of his taste in music & interests. This song choice is also fitting because Metallica let them use their music in a documentary about the west Memphis 3 called paradise lost. The history and thought put into Eddie makes me appreciate and love the character so much more.
Imagine using the song about heroine and cocaine abuse (master of puppets), instead of the very next song that is on the same album and LITERALLY about Lovecraftian horrors (The Thing That Should Not Be).
@@Thickcurves master of puppets is so much better for a tv show though. Starts strong, ends strong. I’m sure they weren’t wanting Eddie to choose a song based on the lyrics.. more something as loud and distracting as possible to attract the bats
What blows my mind is how amazingly he not just played the series role but he WAS the heavy metal D&D friends that I hung out with. I knew Eddie Munsons in my teenage years. I played guitar with them, smoked some good stuff with them and played a lot of D&D. He captured the spirit of THAT person perfectly. I don’t think anyone on the show was quite as authentically 80’s as he was. I cried like a wee babe when he died.
Eddie was a great addition to the cast. Theatrical and funny as the Dungeon Master, but then throughout the season, his arc showed us a young man with heart and with the desire to do the right thing. I was hoping we could all have one more season with him.
it was really engaging watching the unfolding of his character, and also see the group dynamics. steve/eddie/dusty was a really interesting interaction too.
In one of the replies of the comment here, there is a theory saying there was a human who got turned into a vampire after being bit by bats and according to the DnD storyline he was the right hand man of Vecna. But he later betrayed him and killed Vecna. So maybe maybe (✷‿✷)
I was a teenage metal head. Now, I'm an old metal head, mom, and wife. Eddie's character spoke to me as one outsider to another outsider. I had a buddy, he was Eddie to a T. Now I thrash out with my adult kids. It is yet another side of me they got to see because of this show. Thanks Duffer Brothers, for your love of the outsiders.
Same i loved seeing Eddie he reminded me of a guy i was friend's with in high school who has sadly died a few years back but i know he'd of loved this too!
Same here, metalhead growing up in the Stranger Things time period. One of the best things about this show, for me, is how well they portrayed every aspect of the 80's. I have known a lot of Eddies...and was one too :) Keep on thrashing!
i was FLOORED when i heard metallica start up, and from imho one of the best albums of all time. i think i yelled out YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!!!! in my living room. (followed by "how are we hearing drums tho? lol" but i know the song needed heard in its entirety). SO glad to see metal and thrash get representation. they WERE part of the 80s. so i totally agree with you wholeheartedly!
I related so hard to this!! I was and honestly still am the eddie munson of my family. I'm pretty sure everyone thought I would grow out of it but here I am married with 2 kids still the same awkward nerdy metalhead lol. my go to lullaby while soothing my kids was enter sandman 😂
@@caketropolis Enter Sandman is one of my high school band's pep band songs, and its such a fun song for the trombones (I am a trombone), and actually just the whole low brass / low reeds & percussion section (drum set)
Even though Eddie was a new character that has a short lived part in the show. He left an impact on the show that is nothing less than amazing. From the arc written, casting, actor's talent and skill, to the execution by the Duffer Brothers. An absolute homerun. Hellfire Club for life.
2:55 he was probably smiling because he just got the idea too take the guitar and walk off like nothing happened also I love how maya starts smiling as soon as she sees him get up because she already knows he is doing something and she has done this before with joe in interviews they play with each other like sibling’s
Eddie was a fantastically written character, wonderfully acted and portrayed. It would have been so easy to portray him over the top as so many ( Sean Penn ) have in film and TV. Eddie had heart. He had feelings and thoughts.
Eddie absolutely CARRIED this entire season. Every scene he was in, Jo just rocked the hell outta it. I knew the entire time, he was going to get the Barb/Bob/Billie treatment. But it still hurt! I lost a best friend! Rock on Ed, you goddamn star
@@crazyalarmstudios2012 I agree. It's been literally said in interviews that Barbs death was just to SHOCK the audience, and both her and Bob were written to just be killed off. Billy was the most well rounded, because his death was a choice he made. Barb was kidnapped by the demagorgan, and Bob was surprised attacked by Demadogs he would have 100 percent heard coming
@@crazyalarmstudios2012 i understand barb and bob but billie's death wasn't sudden or lazy lol, it set up max's character arc and vecna's appearance. not only that but it wasn't sudden at all, he started in season 2 and ended at the end of season 3, a good amount of time
The entire scene on top of a cladded trailer, with red lightening, a hoarde of man eating monster bats coming, while someone is being chased by a killer monster man looks, feels, and plays out exactly as an 80s metal video would. It's on par with something like Á Tout Le Monde or anything else Megadeth and Slayer produced for their music videos. Whoever it was that thought of this scene and how it played out was dedicated to the spirit of 80s metal
wow being Hopper fan is pretty rare because everybody like kids😂 But I personally like the BaldEagle Murray as well, dude helped them so many times and he’s funny
@@genieinawinebottle yeah Lucas doesn't really get too annoying either. Mike and Will both felt useless this season. One cries the whole time while the other is just someones boyfriend
it's cool the fact that they watched this scene for the first time together. Many are confused cause they say "but they recorded it so they know this scene", yeah but the scene wasn't edited and put together 😂, it's the first time for them too watching this masterpiece.
They may bring him back because the fans liked him so much. Hear me out, Eddie was armed with a shield with spikes on it to shield him from the bats. Now in DND there's a vampire who is known for coming back to life that also has a shield with spikes on it (very similar to what Eddie had). We often see that DND foreshadows what's going to happen, so the fact he uses the same shield as someone who returns from the dead is interesting and could single to his return. Not only that, but the guy who comes back to life in DND is a vampire, Eddie was killed by bats, everyone knows the legend says if you're killed by a bat then you come back as a vampire. Eddie can also be seen with bat tattoos on his arms that could also have the same meaning. Is Eddie the DND character that comes back to life? Is the shield just a coincidence? Is the fact that the character is from DND help single it's foreshadowing? Idk. But it wouldn't be the first time they brought back a fan favorite character. Look at Hopper.
that's my theory too. pretty dure they didnt take his body out of the upside down so who knows, maybe vecna somehow revives him or eddie only passed out and woke up again? and then he can betray vecna and get back to the real world
I mean we saw Billy a few times this season. I wouldn't mind seeing him come back as sort of a "force ghost" for Dustin. Not like literally but in Dustin's mind giving him encouragement and we can see him too.
I love that Felicia got to do this interview. And that scene just had such goosebumps breaking out all over me. I am a country chick, but also a nerd and a metal head!
I love the cast. You can tell they genuinely have a good time. And even tho Eddie was new, I wasn't ready to lose him THIS soon wtf. I wanted to see more of that group man... Eddie/Steve/Robin/Nancy. 💔 But he's right, it was a cool way to go out. lol
At the time of Eddie’s triumphant heavy metal concert scene, I didn’t see it coming that he was gonna die for Hawkins. Now that I look back at he whole season, especially he kept on saying things like, “This is my year”, it makes sense that it was a foreshadowing that he will die. RIP to Hawkins resident HFC and heavy metal king, and the most hated hometown hero, Eddie 😭🙏. As for Mr. Quinn, bravo to you good sir 👏👏👏🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🤘🤘🤘✌️
@@neech1311 no he won’t, he’s dead and the duffer brothers said they would be hard on not bringing any characters back from season 4. He’s actor might come back for some flashbacks, sure! But the character is dead and he ain’t coming back. Sorry not sorry it’s the hard truth
That scene will live on as one of the sickest scenes of all time. And as heartbroken as I am that we won’t get more Eddie, I’m so glad that he got such an epic send off. I’m so impressed by his performance. He deserves all the success and opportunities he receives after this ❤️
Stranger things truly is such a great show and honestly I don’t think the Duffer Brothers could have picked a better cast, they play their characters so well, like they were literally born to play those roles, even the roles that are really hard to play the actors do such an amazing job. I love this show so much and it’s made me laugh, cry, and overall so happy, and I can’t wait for the next season
Actor of Eddie Munsons face when he knew he was the main focus of all iconic scene in Netflix. He knew right then and there. You can see it. He has no words.
Eddie would’ve made a great addition to the babysitters club with Steve 😢 his character could’ve had all these great interactions with the other characters. He could’ve played DND with will. Been a better big brother to Little miss ginger snaps. Teach mike to stand up for himself. Probably could’ve shown Eleven how to shred on the guitar with her mind 😭
Season 5 will primarily take place in Hawkins In an interview with Collider, the Duffer Brothers confirmed that Season 5 will mostly take place in Hawkins, Indiana, where it all started. At the end of Season 4, most of the crew who diverged out of the small town made it back in some capacity, except for Dr. Martin Brenner, who died out in the New Mexico desert at the hands of Colonel Sullivan’s men. And with the Upside Down encroaching on Hawkins in a big way, it sure seems like a major battle is in store.
I mean Brenner got mauled by an entity from another dimension but that didn't stop him from coming back before Nah I'm just kidding, glad he's dead if im being hoenst
I'm betting on season 5 being very similar to "the mist" a Stephen King flick where another dimension bursts through a "window" that scientists at a top secret military base had created. The resulting leak let in a bunch of vicious creatures into our world, primarily a small coastal town. The survivors all held up in various stores for safety, with things quickly devolving into some lord of the flies shit.
Joseph Quinn -- this was the first time I have seen any of his work, but he is is hands-down one of the best young(er) actors I have the pleasure of watching in recent years. Hope to see more of you, sir!
My graduation year would have been 85, I was a metal head then (still am) I related to Eddie’s character and thought to myself we would have been best friends back in the day
Rock n roll. Between Master of Puppets and Running Up That Hill and everything in between the music was stupendous this season. Props to the Music Supervisor Nora Felder and her team!
Him taking the guitar at the end is such a mood, he deserves to keep it! I'm really happy that Metallica gave him the replica of the guitar and signed it, he was so happy too. Other than that, Joseph really did the metal industry well. I'm very proud of him
the show is never going to be the same without him, i’ll miss him so much and eddie munson is going to be forever in my heart, i never thought i could fall in love with a character this easily, but when eddie came to stranger things i fell in love the second he joined, i know he won’t be back in season 5 but i really hope they duffer brothers change their minds, he was one of the best actors i have ever seen. goodbye eddie, we’ll miss you💔
That really was "THE MOST METAL EVER"!! Epic scene. And you single handily introduced an entire generation to one of the most metal bands of all time. And probably made them a butt load more money in the process. Rock on bro.. 🤘
black sabbath would also have been fire, at first i was disappointed but in the end i realized for this scene there is no better song than master of puppets
@@xanderced I don't think Sabbath would have fitted, simply because they are from the previous era than the setting. Metallca was the epitome of the average metalhead's playlist in the 80's era. Maybe if Stranger Things was set in the 70's, it would have been spot on.
@@xanderced The show has made a point of using period-appropriate music, and Master of Puppets was released about a month before this season was supposed to take place, every metalhead in America was listening to it that spring.
