Street Fighter X Tekken (RPCS3) super arts & cross arts exhibition, mainly focus on Tekken characters, also including some special outfits. This is one of the best crossover fighting game from 2012.
Something I don’t think gets mentioned enough is the art style of this game. It’s honestly pretty damn sick and works surprisingly well with both TEKKEN and SF.
Eh, to each their own. Game always looked hideous to be personally. Then again, I never liked the way SFIV looked either, and SFXT is pretty much just that but with a more garish colour pallet.
Thank you. I've been trying to tell people that. They want to work on TxSF, they just have to finish development on it. They can make any game they want so "business practices" aren't gonna hold them back or get the game cancelled.
It was still just SF4 featuring Tekken characters. Even the character models from SF looked the same as they did in SF4. It may as well have been another SF4 expansion.
I might get crap for this but one thing I always liked about this crossover is that it actually gave some of the Tekken characters a personality and more screentime than they get in their own game.
FR!!!! i especially love how law, paul, jack-x and bryan are portrayed even in battle. the way law screams for for the hcb special and bryan bird screeches for that takedown attack is just excellent xd
Nah, no crap deserved here. You're absolutely right. This game gave the Tekken characters a lot more flair and character. Especially things like their Super attacks; they're so much more flashy and they actually say more during their attacks, unlike in Tekken, where they just grunt or maybe say one generic line if you're lucky. I loved the Street Fighter-styled win quotes they all had for each characters, too. The trash talk was great, like Kazuya calling Hugo a "fatass" (all of Kaz's win quotes were great tbh), Jin basically telling everyone to piss off and leave him alone, everybody respecting how badass Heihachi is (especially around the Tekken 6 period, where he was more out of focus and a comedic character) etc. Even the continuity nods were great (and Tekken is sadly starved of that when it comes to the non-Mishimas). Kazuya references his battle against Paul back in Tekken 1 where they drew (he says Paul hasn't evolved at all since their fight), Jin gets pissed at Ogre for Jun's disappearance, it was all there. You even got characters like Marduk actually complimenting their opponents and being pretty chill about the fight. One thing games like Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, Blazblue and (recently) Soulcalibur always did well with was the special win quotes and character interactions. Tekken unfortunately lacks a lot of that aside from a handful of characters. After Tekken 5, it feels like the side characters just got heavily shafted and they don't even matter anymore. I always value the side characters in games like these because while you have the main conflict (like the Mishima feud) going on, the rest of them outside of it have their own problems and feuds going on simultaneously. I love seeing how the side characters' stories eventually intertwine with each other and link into the main one. SF x Tekken ironically did this better than Tekken itself.
To me, it was four things that killed this game -The gem system, a pathetic attempt to put mtx in the game -Half the roster locked in on-disc dlc to gave preference to the PSVita port -Games for Windows Live in the PC version of the game (¿what was Capcom thinking?) -Capcom themselves. Between 2010 to 2012 when this game was released, we got Tatsunoko vs Capcom, the arcade edition of Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs Capcom 3. That's FOUR games from the same company trying to get their own spot
I can't agree with you more with these opinions lol, they are undeniable at all. Capcom tried to utilise their reputation and then ruined it in just a moment
Spot on! The on-disc DLC was such a huge fiasco for the gaming community as a whole. I was also butthurt at the PS3 version having exclusive characters over the 360 version, even though the 360 version of SFIV ran better and was used in official tourneys. Haha Can someone explain the Windows Live point for me?
The game had 40 characters on launch, already having more than average amount of content to justify it's price. The dlc was also 12 characters for 20 bucks, which is also pretty cheap compared to average character pass prices. Putting some gems on dlc was stupid but the idea behind the mechanic was good. It also appeared in Fighting EX Layer where people were a lot more receptive to it due to the game not being surrounded in controversy. Being able to do "mini-quests" during a match to unlock additional powers is a good way to add extra options in an FG and it's something I wish more FGs would revisit.
Also, while it may not have been the biggest reason, Bad Boxart Mega Man soured a number of people on the game after Mega Man Legends 3 was cancelled, Mega Man Universe was cancelled, and no Mega Man (as in Rock or X) was put in MvC3.
Broke: Jin waiting for his mother to finally come back after years. *WOKE:* Tekken fanbase waiting for the elusive Tekken x Street Fighter to be announced
Tekken characters here had so much in terms of animation. Especially their supers, which showcase their archetypes much better than the ones in Tekken 7. Maybe in TxSF, whenever that will be, they’ll implement new animations for their supers, especially since the ones in T7 either used to be item moves, are animation rehashes, or both.
One of, if not the best, fighter I’ve ever played. I spent literal years in Scramble mode with friends. Gave our specific characters teams actual colors, names, and everything. Those were among the best times in my life..
Reminder that this is technically the last Tekken game to feature only Japanese or English dubbing before it shifted full force into multilingual dubbing with single language subs.
I love how Tekken's cast were implemented into Street Fighter 4's aesthetics. Even if the game flopped, you can't deny the hype it brought in the trailers.
Despite its many, MANY flaws I still think this game rules. Didn’t think I wanted Tekken characters in a Street Fighter playstyle but now that I’ve tried a good handful of them I’m here for the ride. Hope we get Tekken X Street Fighter in the future (if it gets out of development hell) so we can see more than just Akuma make the jump to a Tekken style.
Man, it was such horrible time to play this game back then. However today,it’s so fun to play this wonderful idea of two big hit franchises crossover…with gems off of course.
This game wouldve lived long enough if the devs didnt added an upgrade system like tekken revolution. Anyone who thought of this must be dumbest person ever
This game was fun af, legit couldn’t wait to get online and play. Haven’t had that same desire to play a fighter since. I’ll always hate the community for killing this game haha 😂
This game is actually really good despite the on disc dlc and gem system. You can tell theres loads of effort put in, it doesnt feel unfinished. You can remove gems but not if youre fighting a cpu opponent tho. I wish they didnt have them at all, theyre annoying to activate and when you do some of them just make things unfair. On disc dlc isnt an issue if you buy the psvita version (which is an amazing port btw) or just pirate the them. I feel if they didnt have the dlc already there on day 1 it wouldnt have left a bad taste in ppls mouths. Its an incredibly underrated game.
The character DLC fiasco definitely was what killed the game in the eyes of the mainstream, which is a shame because it was a completely stupid attack on the game. SFxT was generous with launch content already with 40 chars, and the dlc characters were cheap too, 12 chars for 20 bucks. It handled content much better than modern FGs do, yet people are still talking about this game as the worst example for character dlc, just because the devs naively put dlc files on the disc (in the last years when discs still store game files), giving people a mental gymnastic to justify not wanting to pay for additional content.
This game had a lot of potential! Too bad capcom mess it up with locking half of the roster behind a pay for win dlc that’s already ready on the discs, stupid gem system, not balancing the game, making jin the villain again (the guy is the ryu of tekken why he’s a sub-boss?!?!), making xiaoyu much more stupider than ever, pairing kazuya with nina (they hate each other in the tekken canon ono though that’s kazuya & nina are like akira & sarah from vf), rufus in this game but not alex r mika or el fuerte and releasing ultra street fighter 4 with almost all of the content from sfxt.
While I will say the ports on handheld for this game and UMVC3 offer a lot. Problem already arises when it's not an ideal way to play the games, especially with the mechanical depth being watered down extremely by touch screen presses, back pad inputs, and if you really want to play the game on controller/stick, you have to go out of your way to get a Vita TV. It was a good attempt, but this game seriously needs a remaster that removes the gem system, gives all characters, adds rollback, and rebalance tweaks. No exceptions.
I loved the gameplay until I realized I had to be conscious of the gem system. Dropped the game after maybe 2 weeks. It was really disappointing looking back, the main gameplay mechanics were a lot of fun
The game that crossed the Iron Firt and the Street Fighting. Street Fighter X Tekken still is a very solid fighting game with so cool soundtrack, amazing art style and sick roster and combo system. We even had PacMan and Megaman! Kinda but still!
Awesome video. If T x SF finally comes, I hope it is this way with the team ups crossing the franchises rather than paired up with people from the same game. I'd love a legit Hwoarang & Juri team. Also, TTT2 style team tag moves 👌🏽
I was extremely high for this game back in the day, but sadly if they're actually fell flat. I hated that Capcom made it full blown tag team Fighter, some of the pairing didnt make too sense to me. The gems and pandora mode were annoying and unnecessary, imo the gameplay of the demo seem more enjoyable than the actual finished game. Storyline wise, they made it like CVS and not make it scrambling for some gems would not mind if Capcom actually made a sequel just negate the Pandora mode and have a choice of 1v1 and 2v2 gameplay. PS: I'm wishing for Tekken x Street Fighter.
Despite the controversy and poor business decisions that plagued this game's reputation, SF X TK still remains one of my favorite crossover games to this day. There was so much possibility with tag combos, the art style made everything look so hype, it did a lot of justice surprisingly to the Tekken cast with their move list, and you could literally feel every hit connecting. Also, dear God that soundtrack was something else! If only Capcom hadn't shot this game in the foot and then severed its legs, it could've gotten traction. This game needs to make a comeback in the community at the very least.
My Most Favorite Part of This Masterpiece Crossover Fighting Game is the Best of the Best Rival Cutscenes of this game! Ryu vs Kazuya Mishima, Cammy White vs Nina Williams, Sakura Kasugano vs Asuka Kazama, Dudley vs Steve Fox, Guy vs Raven, Juri Han vs Hwoarang, Akuma vs Jin Kazama, M. Bison vs Heihachi Mishima, Elena vs Christie Monteiro and Blanka vs Kuma! They're all THE Best of the Best Epic Badass Street Fighter and Tekken I REALLY Love, Respect and Appreciate from my Childhood Years!
if they removed gems as a P2W scheme, not scamming people on DLC (disc-locked content) by telling people to buy the vita version instead of the ps3/xbox 360 version, this game would've gotten more praise from both parties. even though u can select no gems as an option, still weird to sell gem packs that give high stat boosters at your local retailer and separate DLC. Now, having pair play similar to TTT2 was a cool feature and online training was provided. Ver. 2013 fixed everything that was somewhat an issue until it was too late as they went back to SF4 for those last couple of years.
to everyone that is asking about Tekken x Street Fighter: its frozen by Capcom and they are a company that will sit decades on an IP or a project. unless the executives find a way for profitable milking they wont ok the project. the best option would be for SF6 to flop and Tekken 8 to succeed, then they will very likely Ok the completion of Tekken x SF.
I gotta give Capcom credit here: they really did a great job of taking the Tekken characters and make them work in Street Fighter’s style. None of them feel like they are missing stuff, they are still here just retooled to work in the style of Street Fighter. It’s also really interesting to see what they did with Jin, considering how drastically different he was in Tekken 4.
