To be fair if your gaffa wants you to be shunting around the yard in the dark, he needs to Invest in some yard lights so you can see what you are doing.
and without a shunt... honestly those things make is so much easier.. our shunt Died this year.. the shunt guys had to deal with a massive merc actros to do the shunting with.. while they did it fine they were very angry people for for the 12 weeks it took the company to finaly admit they needed a new shunt (not a relic)
Question: Not a truck driver, so why wasn't the trailer near the fence moved before you got there. Also why doesn't your boss install lighting that turns on by sensors looking after the property and trucks equipment etc. Also install solar lights with a battery free electricity, and also make the work area safe.
So if your boss really cares about his drivers, then why not put up some basic lighting in the yard? Unnecessary dangers involved in the pitch black...
Fair play to you Luke. However, I don’t understand why in this day and age why trailers don’t come as standard with bright reversing lights and cameras. Great vlog Luke
I always give a wafe when drivers let me go through.I respect the majority of truck drivers or lorry drivers in the UK.The majority are top notch making a living in stressful circumstances.
So annoying when you damage the trailer but these things happen and at least it was the trailer you were parking up and not the one you were using next week. Dont know why reversing lights are not fitted to trailers. Thanks for a good video. Stay safe and take care.
You are too contentious. If the boss said he would do the straps on Saturday, then accept it. Tell him to install some flood lights in the yard as well.
Another excellent video Luke, yes hindsight is a wonderful thing, if only you had plugged the lights in, the lights on the buses were all we had when parking upwards of 75 buses and coaches up when I was night shunting! Luckily never heard that cracking of plastic light lenses!😂 Keep up the good work and keep safe 😀🚛
Asking you to do all that in the pitch black is crazy and your boss needs to either get some flood lights for the yard or stop asking you lads to manoeuvre with a blindfold on
Thank you Luke Enjoyed your video Hopefully your Bosses like your Shunting around in the Dark. May be he the Boss May put some floodlights up soon. Hopefully you had a Relaxing weekend with your family. How nice of your family to come out and help you. Thanks again. Take care and Stay safe and safe Trucking.
That was some impressive reversing do you always have to connect all those cables even if you're only moving the trailer a little? I've always wondered why companies don't have cameras on the back of trailers, it's easy to run a cable along the trailer and then have some connector on the back of the lorry, kinda like how you connect those other cables. If I was a lorry/truck driver I would put so many cameras on my truck hahaha. This makes me wonder if wireless cameras with AP mode would work on trailers or if it's too far away from the cabin.
You can however you'll have no lights or trailer brakes ...and being as it was so dark it can be an issue ...you hook up,do tug test ,clip in and then push shunt button and trailer brake button in at same time ,that releases trailer brake without any leads
Just started watching your channel and it's a pleasure to watch.watched that trucker tim last week he's absolutely mental I would not let him know where one of my truck's take care see you soon 👍
I remember my first fixed penalty fine. I got pulled over by a copper one morning and he asked me if I thought I'd forgotten something? I knew exactly what he was on about, the company I worked for at the time had a very lax attitude and the previous driver had forgotten to keep the trailer number plate so I had to travel without it. Anyway I said I don't think so. He asked me to follow him and when we got to the back of the trailer he just said, notice anything missing. I acted shocked and keeping up the pretence about his childishness and pettiness I shreiked, Quick, send for the police! He looked shocked and said, I am the police what's wrong? I said, I need to report the theft of my number plate. . . . I reclaimed the £15 fine off the company.
That's not an actual bird, I dont know the name in English but that thing is similar to a kite in a birds shape, its to scare other birds from shiting all over the yard I presume, you can briefly see the tiny slim pole to which it's attached to.
I live in bedworth. Crazy to see you there! The area you picked up from is Bayton road industrial estate and reason there's so many learners is cuz there is a test center just after you turned in at the lights. Its where I passed xD
When you arrived at the pick up for L/B, you'd checked the straps, and whilst you were chatting, I noticed a kite shaped like a bird flying behind you🤣. Must have pigeon problems.
If your employer expects you do these things after dark they should have floodlights in the place. Hopefully you didn't get too much grief over the damage. These things happen. I've damaged much smaller trucks. I don't know how you guys drive these big rigs
Luke, When you were on Bayton Road, Bedworth you passed the Driving Test centre, hence the amount of learners, and there is lots of overnight parking down there. And if it's full the next industrial estate (Grovelands) is good for parking 👍 There is a barrier but it lifts automatically if you approach it slowly 😉
Luke get that crack on the headboard fixed or vosa will pull you Monday lol great vid same in our yard last one back plays find a place to park in the dark
luke at 7,47 theres a driving test centre on your right hence all the learners ,,that tile works was built on a old slag heap and waste ground , if you need a decent night out turn right out the gates go 100 yards and its dead peacefull over night and if your hungery theres a chinese close and a sainsburys at top of the road
Me my son Jacob we enjoy watching your channel we watching now having our roast dinner from Cotswolds have good evening Luke big thumbs up for channel 🤗
Flipping heck Luke calm down a bit, your breathing very heavy there shunting around the yard it's not worth it mate, stress is one of the biggest killers chill out slow down...... 👍👍
Boss as a catalog of companies who he’ll agree to work, but he has multiple drivers in different areas. He may have a delivery that must be picked up by a certain time for example and then a driver might have an issue and can’t get there so he’ll assign another driver. I could have an entire day planned but then it’ll change because I can get somewhere first, or maybe I’m delayed in sight, so it’s better for another driver to go to my collection. So yea. We get our next job when we know we’re available to do it.
For all those non HGV followers out there what you have just seen is probably one of the most dangerous parts of a drivers week. When you know you have that last job to do but you want to get home it's then when you forget something or push that little bit to hard to get it done We all do it especially when we are tired and feel under the weather. One tip for you though Luke put your hazards on doesn't give you much light but if nothing else tells you where the back end of the trailer is and if there's anything in your way don't beat yourself up about the mishap it happens sometimes you've been doing the job long enough to know that enjoy your weekend have a safe week 👍
Thankyou mate. Yeah I normally do that trick when parking up for the night. But because I wanted to do as much as possible before it got dark, to save a little time I didn’t bother with lights on the trailer when hitching up. Might have helped. Might not off. We’ll never know but yea. Sucked to cause damage but I always down up and admit if I messed up. Part of the job isn’t it. Thanks for watching mate
@@lukecinahgv I know where you're coming from mate if I had a quid for every time I've had to crawl underneath a trailer to retrieve the number plate after i have dropped it on a bay I'd be a rich man
I buddy hope you are well.brilliant vlog buddy a bit of stress at the end you could do with some lights putting on your building so you can see when reversing.hope all is well in the end.take care and I hope you had a brilliant weekend phil.
Blimey mate your not done till your done ! Last thing you want to be doing at the end of a working week/day ! Enough to test the patience of a saint ……
Great vid Luke, it certainly showed how stressful the job can be at times. Great bum cleavage, my Wife wondered what I was laughing at. That's what I like about your vids, no airs and graces, you show it how it is.
Hgv drivers do far too many hours still. 3x 15 hr days in a week is far too much no wonder drivers get tired and pissed off.should be a maximum 10hr day.
Hi Luke just wondering what you do in regards to bridges. If your truck is 13.5ft high and the bridge is 13.7ft high would you still go under or is that too tight?
Absolutely, would go and do it mate. I’ll go under that 13 foot seven bridge with a 13 foot seven truck. If I hit the bridge, the bridge is marked wrong or the trailer is. Either way it wouldn’t be my fault.
@@masonfletcher8273 I'm up for retirement in the next few years we need the young blood like you to carry on where we left off mate stuff doesn't deliver itself
Been watching Luke on and off for years - I say on and off as I'm not a trucker but a nerd who likes to dip into Truck Sim but haven't played in a while. Anyway, wanted to say I really like the length of your videos, how you always strive to have the latest cameras to be better and it pays off. My actual question, Luke - if you read this. Does making videos help? Like do you find speaking through what you're doing to the camera help pass the time and not feel like you're as alone at times? Even though you then get to go back to your family. I'm just curious that I bet a lot are probably driving and talking to themselves but with a camera it kind of eases it. I work in IT and there's the concept of a rubber duck (not the chess game), where when you're struggling to solve something, explain the problem to a rubber duck on your desk and by doing so often the solution comes to you.
No wonder you were stressed thats ridiculous manoeuvring around in that light , surely your boss could put up some lights with sensors around the place ?
Hi luke is your yard where dormits industry's is, i used to deliver timber to them back in the 1980s when i worked for c j howse at Aldsworth i drove a Leyland marathon how trucks have changed i now drive a volvo 680 fh for a dainsh company called dsv here in denmark i go all over Scandinavia lovely in sommer not so good in the winter keep safe, roy denmark.
There is another Pavestone.......Pavestone/Bekstone/Pavestone direct at Bekstone quarry Just off the A40 Burford. So don't get confused lol, Next time you're at chipping Camden site say hi to Dave the folk lift driver who took your ticket at start of vlog .......Drive safe bud
Don't be annoyed too much you couldn't see a thing. Every driver has hit or brushed off something. You were at the end of a long day too. . The job is stressful enough without your eating yourself up over a minor incident.
I’m assuming a lot of truckers watch these videos, I’m a Stobart driver (first and only class 1 job) I’ve almost done a year at Stobart looking to leave soon. What are the good company’s to work for and what are the company’s to avoid?? Round the Southwest London & Surrey Area… appreciate any feedback, thanks guys, and girls of course👍👍
@@Subscribe4MoreVideo1 No complaints working at Stobarts it’s been great I would definitely recommend. Im a tramper I’ve done it for almost a year now and I’d like to move to a company that I can see out the rest of my working life, hence way I would like to hear from any drivers who enjoy what they do and potentially any companies with a good working enjoyable environment. But getting the job done at the same time of course.
