Well… I can think of things in other Fromsoft games that could solo bosses. Pus of Man in DS3, Nightmare Executioner in Bloodborne, and Runebears in Elden Ring (I’m sure there are others in Elden Ring, but I can’t recall exact examples at the moment). I highly doubt any of them are capable of soloing the hardest bosses in their respective games, though. Pus of Man might be able to take down Nameless King because of his stagger animation, but I don’t know about any DLC boss. Nightmare Executioner could probably take on most bosses, even Gehrman or Ludwig, but not Laurence or Orphan. Runebear would not be able to take Malenia for sure, but I don’t know about Mohg. I have doubts about Fire Giant and Radagon/Elden Beast, too.
Sif has more reach & uses the spin move more. Artorias dodges a lot & got cornered. Artorias has always been a piss easy fight if you wear full Havels as well, he just struggles against armor, give that man a mace or lightning.
I like how a prisoner who’s blinded, impaled with a broken iron stake, chained from the waist up 23 times, and can barely walk is strong enough to whip Gwyn out of the next century. I guess we know why he is chained.
I mean to be fair the first flame is almost dead which is Gwyn's power source, AND he burned up almost all of his soul when he relit the flame which would only make him weaker. Prime Gwyn vs this guy whould be an interesting fight though
I always found the chained prisoner somewhat messed-up and horrifying. There's only one existing and you really can't make out what it's supposed to be. I had a heart attack when I tried the randomizer mod and every second hollow in undead burg turned into a chained prisoner.
@@renmcmanus There's a lot of controversy around the word choice of Manus being corrupted, considering that he made the abyss. If it was his own creation, a sum from his nature, is it truly corruption?
@@renmcmanus Ah, I see. I got a notification of your comment, but I've long forgotten the context that this video was about Chained Prisoner. In other words, I did a big dumb.
You gotta remember, this is this man's powered *down* form, and he still basically wiped out the whole game solo. Now imagine if it didn't have the chains, boulders, or a huge fucking stake through his heart, actually terrifying
im thinking the same. imagine this guy in proper heavy arm and a good weapon and nothing holding him back like this.. hes what i think guts would be if he awakened as a undead in ds1
It's also important to keep in mind that a lot of the more important enemies are also in a powered down form by the time we get to them, Gwyn, Nito, Artorias etc
@@femboyskeleton9150 You can actually argue Atorias is at his strongest when you fight him. Yeah he's beaten to hell and has a broken arm but he's getting directly amped by Manus' abyss. The Manus that bodied Artorias into that wrecked state.
I like how you added the Twin Princes track to fill the awkward silence during the O&S Fight, it actually fits really well. Side note: Screw Copyright Laws
@@tezereth Not even close. I've never actually lost against Kalameet, because he's very predictable. Manus without the silver pendant on the other hand? It's fucking nuts as you get yoyoed around the arena never really safe far away or close. NG+ Four Kings is also not even remotely balanced as they can annihilate anything short of full havels if their attacks sync just right. Those two are the only two bosses I have to get myself in the zone to face against, because otherwise I'll just get bodied.
I really hated when a Gravelord Servant cursed my world, It was literally impossible to explore the area without being killed after leaving the bonfire.
Some of those Gravelord enemies were the fucking WORST. Get Gravelorded in Anor Londo? OH BOY, HOPE YOU LIKE PAIN! The Giant Knights? Yeah there's a Gravelord version. In fact, there's two close together you can end up fighting at the same time! Somehow, Gravelord Silver Knights are even worse. They basically will 2 shot you no matter what and they have something like 4x the HP of the normal ones. Those, the Gravelord Bonewheels and the Gravelord Skeleton Dogs are the worst.
@@danlorett2184 Thankfully, In my playthroughs before the DLC i never found Gravelord enemies a lot, It was really rare to find one, And if i did find one, It was mostly easy to kill and i would just go kill the Gravelord Servant later, But the ones in the DLC were just painful.
Ciaran: Artorias was a dear... Friend... Would you be so kind to give me his soul? Chained prisoner: MMMMMHHRRRRMPHPHWOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Ciaran:Mmmm. Maybe he is not the chosen undead. He beated Gwyn though
Damn, it's amazing how the only bosses that managed to kill him are the DLC bosses. I still think Artorias would have won if he didnt pin himself into a corner. But yeah, I remember how much I struggled against chained prisoner and I remember seeing the red one a few times when online was a thing and holy shit they are the most dangerous enemies ever.
The fact that the only thing stopping this prisoner from becoming a lord of cinder, even chained, is the fact that he doesn't have the orange charred ring is astounding.
Since his corruption by darkness is much more advanced than that of the other humans in Oolacile, could he have been from the group that awakened Manus and being so close to the awakening affected him more? Or was he buried with Manus and was actually a (un)ringed knight consumed by darkness?. is there any theory or lore about his origin?
He was one of the guardian golems you find in the royal wood since the prisoner's legs are almost identical to the guardian's (you can see it clearly in the concept art) and yes probably he was controlled by the dark like the dragonslayer armor in the ringed city or the harald knights armors
@@aifos5171 That's an excellent theory, checks with the place, the appearance and the monstrous power (augmented by darkness), I wouldn't have guessed it myself, thanks
Kalameet truly is a dragon so terrifying that all of Anor Londo was afraid of him, Kalameet easily beat the 'stick', an enemy so powerful that it defeated Dragonslayer Ornstien and Executioner Smough.
It's a bit sad that the Gravelord servant covenant isn't present in later titles, it was an interesting way to persuade you to keep playing even after you finished NG. At leat DS2 compensated by adding new enemies and challenges in NG+ and the bonfire ascetics. EDIT: Demon souls has world tendency, so I guess that counts too.
@@tylervanpeursem7627 A cheat engine table I use gives me permanent gravelord curse and one of the gravelord enemies is skelewheels. They one shot you if you get hit full on lmao
a grim reminder of the horror of dark world tendency back in Demon´s Souls it probably sucks but for some reason it´s somewhat hilarious that Copyright ban thing is with Ornstein and Smough, does not seem to be a thing anymore since you keep swapping the track out Kalameet combo attacked the living daylights out of him though
@@adrianostrowski6431 but for Ciaran it's obvious she's female tho her voice mostly but Sif? i don't see anything that confirms Sif's gender other than the name maybe? but i still don't know
Gwyn and Smough got pretty close, huh. If Seath's curse worked, he might have won, and this is an enemy where curse might have an affect, lore-wise. Winners: Centipede Demon: only the battle without orange charred ring happened, but the Chained Prisoner is one of the least able-to-wear-rings creatures in the game. Manus: once again, Manus' magic proves more useful in ai battles. Kalameet
People say he's held back by the chains and the stake. No...they are what make him so strong. Through pain and hatred he's grown beyond mortal constraints. Peak Performance. It aint pretty, but it is awesome
I find this so funny considering the fact that I died to all of these bosses multiple times yet curb stomped the chained prisoner with some careful footwork and kept going without any idea of what I’d missed. How… how did I get so lucky?
Thanks! I have literally NEVER seen this enemy in all my years of DS simply because the Gravelord system is so busted that no one seems to be using it.
The O&S fight is insane. He KNEW to take out Ornstein first, then used the pillars to his advantage against Smough. Absolute beast. Edit: He also knew to keep swinging on the 4 kings after they die for extra damage.
imagine being the only enemy in your series to chained to such an extreme that it only makes you quite possibly stronger on escape. literally nothing is known about this chained prisoner despite the fact he was jailed in kingdom of light itself which is regarded as a pretty peaceful place. this kind of treatment would be warranted by them with purpose.
Iron Golem is always my favorite in these. Either he's lumbering forward to square up, only to get stomped by a smaller opponent, or they're rushing towards him and it looks like the golem is scrambling to stop them.
