Today was more cleanup and prep for the incoming Sierra wave. We expect anywhere from 24 to 36 inches in the next 48 hours. It’s going to be heavy wet snow. We had a chance to speak with the Chula Vista urban rescue unit they were actually on a building doing some temporary shoring as it was failing from the heavy weight of the snow on the roof we also had to do a quick tire swap on the loader. Bryan ran that down to Bishop got it fixed and we were able to do a quick turnaround get the tire back on, and we have the loader back up and running Follow along and see how our day went.

Watching this guy operate a forklift was the most terrifying cringeworthy thing on YT today. Absolutely inept. An actual operator would be able to put that wheel right on the hub with the forklift. Instead they're discussing the plan while a thousand pound wheel is perched precariously in the air, eventually knocks it over like a rookie. OSHA would like a word, jackass. The sad part is, the tire is absolutely done, keeps patching it because cheap, or poor, pick one I guess.

Great vid. If the 12 firemen had brought up the proper roof snow removal equipment, it would have been cleared in the time it took them to get the lumber. I was lazy one year with roof clearing and paid the price, lesson learned. Living in paradise comes with a costs that must be budgeted into the plan to live there, snow being a big one. Average snow accumulation is 53 feet there, have the equipment and time to do it yourself, or have budgeted the cost for others to do it for you. Everything has a price like a new tire for the loader, or a snow blower up to the task. Some people make bad choices and decisions and then don't own up to their personal responsibility in a situation they created. Always nice to see you help those people out on your dime. Snowing good here now, wet and heavy. Cheers
@brentjacobsen1757
@brentjacobsen1757 Год назад
That Chula Vista OES crew is a USAR heavy rescue. They speciallize in confined space rescue, collapsed structures, earthquake, trench rescue. and some times Swiftwater Rescue. They actually carry the shoring lumber in the rig. USAR rigs care certain caches of equipment depending on their type and speciallty. There is a net work or various OES units throughout the state. It is the same system that is used for the wildfires. They are probably up in Mammoth as part of a strike team made up of mulitple units our of SD County.
@benfranklin1039
@benfranklin1039 Год назад
WTF? This appears to be neither a search nor a heavy rescue. Get the occupants out safe, then "red tag" the building and move on to the next rescue. The owner can contact their insurance company for further damage mitigation advice. PS Why not hire someone to remove the snow from the roof as Job #1. Makes sense to me.
