This straight up reminds me of the episode of Friends when Ross got his teeth whitened to the point they literally glowed in the dark. Which is funny, because I also remember an episode where Ross gets a spray tan and gets like 6 sprays all on one side. XD

They missed the chance of having Howard and Barnadette actually supporting their friend in his time of need instead of having them laugh at an already completely miserable guy feeling even more miserable. You don't need to make a joke out of everything. People misfortune doesn't need to be always fun, sometimes you can have sitcoms showing their character like actual people with empathy instead of steryoripes that border on sociopathy. They had that when Howard's mother died (Penny's moment aside), so it means the creators were actually aware of this. All in all, I personally don't understand what's the fetish of having losers in sitcoms. They are always the but of the joke and rarely ever get out of the shade of being losers. Honestly, at some points, I start to ask whether sitcoms aren't actually contributing to real-life bullying. And trust me, I'm not one to mix reality with fiction but sometimes sitcoms really lose sight of the line that divides actual comedy and genuine toxicity.
