Vijay Jojo Chokal-Ingam, who claims he got into medical school by pretending to be a black man, now thinks President Trump will "end affirmative action like Lincoln ended slavery."
govols2214 It's not just colleges it's also other jobs like truck driving, my dad has 15 years of experience and tried to get a job at ups but instead they hired a "troubled" blacks teen who they later had to train to drive an 18 wheeler he later was fired because he was having too many incidents hitting cars and they trained and hired another black dude with ZERO experience.
Xp993 I live outside Detroit the only people denying black people access to education are other black people fat they just put 13 of them in jail in the last month or so
Orlando Biotechnology i believe it is because of diversity and academic performance. it is much harder for asians to enter medschool because majority of asians score better than other race. whites on the otherhand score fairly well, but their majority in the statistics is purely a favorable opinion by the University. Other races like native americans and islanders also have to attain a minimum of 3.6 gpa. Except for the blacks, that require only 3.1 gpa. I believe state policy declare this to boost diversity in the medical profession and also because blacks dont attain as high a gpa compared to other races. conclusion: it's not an act of racism, rather a means for diversity. It is good to have a diverse set of doctors in society to cater to the different races also present in society. research and empirical evidence shows patienta and doctors of the same race and who share common values and customs are more lilely to establish a good doctor-patient relationship. but that doesn't mean other races dont match, it's just that the state makes a law for the best possible outcome that can be both equal and beneficial for each respective race existing in american society.
Orlando Biotechnology Believe it or not but people in power (e.g. Deans) sometimes discriminate against minorities. Affrimitve action was put in place to fight against these types of white only institutions.
No he went in and failed if I recall. He tried to fake the struggle by putting he's black and clearly didn't end up with a degree. Serves him right for lying.
@@zephy8002 He faked a struggle he didn't have. He had a 3.1 and didn't have to go through the same life struggles as someone else. Granted the 510 is a pretty good score but again he faked the struggle hence why he failed out. A URM who persevered through life struggles and got in wouldn't have.
Dave Gr.P But that’s the point. The fact that he was able to get in with a horrible GPA just by pretending to be black shows how fucked up the USsystem is.
Well no dip you have to check a race box... Have you not seen the, y'know, different *races* in the U.S. as compared to, y'know, almost everywhere else? You're right though about the whole race thing. Though I'm one of the people who mostly blames PC Culture and being "progressive" just for the sake of clarifying that they aren't racist. Despite running majorities up the wall to be skinned and hung to dry (eventually). Also, whether it was purposeful or not, thanks for using "America" rather than "Americans" like some people do. Definitely shouldn't clump any of the objective population in there, like myself, just because I'm on the land mass.
I didn't mean to sound narrow minded? I myself thought how I worded it would probably be misunderstood. My bad. But as far as the reasoning for the check boxes are concerned, I haven't a clue to defend it. Perhaps it's just to get a better identity of the person? Of course, that's off-topic. The way it's been described in the video definitely hints at some sort of malice, be it the original intent or not.
He is not "blacker" but "darker." The fact is that "black" means ancestors from sub-Saharan Africa. Many "white" people are darker skinned than many "black" people but still called "white" due to European ancestry. Indeed, many NORTH Africans and Middle Easterners are also considered "white."
@@diwi5823 I know there is dispute and confusion. However, people of European ancestry are called "white" no matter if they are brown-skinned or not. It is generally true that people like Berbers, Algerians, Moroccans, and Arabs are also called "white."
Jacky Chew “And when white people are racist toward other races they are criticized”. “Black people are discriminated against everywhere they g”. Oh please lil sjw give me a break. This is what happens when you get 100% of your research from cnn and buzzfeed. People shouldn’t have to pretend to be black to get into college. I know you’re making a leap for those sweet victim points but it’s just idiotic.
Yes but look it this way if you just look at grades admission alone there won't be any white applying to the colleges. Asian and Indian are going to take over and admission will be very hard to get. there has to be some kind of way to balance the field.
Yea, even if you get good grades the system is messed up. Honestly black have a lot more advantages then others. In job and in school they get scholarship.
Rhiro Yonve lol what about legacy admissions? Why is there no outrage about that? Black people and white women aren't the only group who benefits from Affirmative Action. Affirmative Action has never solely benefitted Black DOS in America as it was designed to. You don't get admitted to an institution JUST because you're non-white or female. That isn't how Aff.Action works. Many states (like Texas) have race-neutral admissions criteria so the idea that white people are underrepresented in education is false and quite comical.
IHEartLReoy you also don't understand how Aff.Action works nor is there data supporting your claims regarding legacy admissions. Legacy applicants are actually accepted at higher rates than their peers. A quick assessment of American politicians confirms it's a problem. So when a Texas university rejects you, it's a result of your mediocre performance in academia; not Aff.Action. Again, diversity is what most institutions strive for. Diversity is not exclusive to Black people. You seem to forget it benefits white women (possibly your demographic) more than ANY OTHER GROUP. You're literally voting against your interests. Lol Am I really the retarded one here? 😂
@James BigBigBoss i know your type. You think because your ancestors are slaves that All white people are racist. Go fuck yourself and go support your brothas somewhere else
Jake Pfeiffer They shouldn't get to score lower than other races and get the space over someone who has a better score because the they are black. There is black privilege.
Why is it even desirable to have a equal representation of races when you just have the best of the best. If whole class is Asians then so be it, if they're the best students, then they deserve the place.
How are white people the big dogs? They just contribute more to the USA economy and job market because they are the majority, not because they are inherently better or racist lol I'm white, and i completely agree with Fred .Flintstones comment... i would love if the best of the best dominated, no matter the skin color. Geez, so many people look through color nowadays, more than 10 years ago..
Fred .Flintstone Exactly!! we need to judge based on ability, not skintone. I would feel much more at ease to bubble in that I'm white if that were the case, because at least I would have the peace of mind that I'm being judged for more reasonable things like my GPA and test scores, and essay and extracurriculars and the interview. you know, stuff that actually matters. Not that I'm too basic of a race or whatever. :/
+Khayla Page That's what you got out of this? The video starts by saying only 42% of new Harvard students are white even though they are 70% of the population. So a college that was founded by white people that is now admitting a disproportionate amount of other races into the college, is somehow them wanting every other race to fail? Also pretty sure most white people love rich black athletes dominate. White people are apparently the only race that should be ashamed of succeeding. I can't wait until this country is half Mexican because they won't take your guilt bullshit.
Lamo , people just ignore the problem that causes this problem - not enough colleges and the culture and basic education. Believe or not , bias happened no matter how hard you try to prevent it. It's the impression , experience or the stories people you trusted told you . Let's just ask why there are lots more Asian ? Probably not because of their biology, but the way they educate their children. Economy and politics also have to do with this issue . First, the reason the college do such thing because of funding and representation. To make look diversity, can help rank higher in college ranking , thus increasing the quality of student and increase income. Yap, college is a business. Think of the student loans . In term of politic - let's skip the part where money is just to maintain power and to "buy time " . Because of oil , globalization, countries relies on each other. America no longer need workers . The factories all moved to somewhere they don't need to care about environment or the right of workers . America now days have technology . They need people with degrees, skills to work . Thus , they need college graduate. Because of that , college getting expensive ; people all want to go to college . Since the government doesn't really care about education (our president thinks he can turn the tide , create jobs . Things doesn't work that way ) , thus not enough funding go into college - or college have bad budgeting . Therefore , can't accept all student . P.s . High School common core education treat all student as idiot . Thus America have 79% literacy rate (2013 report ) - because we been using the same system for years , doesn't seems the number will increase . P.s. I type it on phone ,it's just a draft . Many more issues to talk about and to fix grammar and misspellings + run-on sentences . Also need to be organized. Plz forgive
Basically in simple terms: people trying to solve “racism” with racism. They want diversity but that means purposely excluding certain race(s) in order to be not racist. 😂
So according to your flawed logic every person on the planet was capable of doing what Einstein did. The reality is that affirmative action creates low quality doctors and those doctors should be avoided if you want quality medical care.
Martin Luther King once said, " I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." I wonder if he is still around, what is his reaction to this news.
Don't quote MLK cuz yall racists ain even live by that quote. If yall did you wouldn't be checking your race on documents that asked and yall would've been protesting it. Instead you check your race on all those document and sit here and lie and say that affirmative action is racist it's for blacks only and that any black person getting accepted anywhere is not qualified for it. Cuz yall are racist.
@@cbenji07 Yes they check for race, so that you can get in easier. Yes they check for race so that they can limit the amount of Asian students. I mean honestly isn't it disgusting that the system intentionally makes it harder for a specific race (Asian) to be accepted? Utterly disgusting.
@@zunzwak4482 that's just a disprovable narrative that you are just running with. It runs with the racist narrative that ALL Asians being accepted and rejected have better scores than everybody else being accepted. That's assuming none of the accepted Asians are benefiting from AA themselves.
@@cbenji07 It doesn't run with any narrative. You know exactly what i mean. Asians that have the same scolarly achievement and ECs as other races tend to be discriminated against. (Also what is AA, they benefited from what?) Most Asians weren't part of the middle class when they emigrated to the US, they worked their asses of.
After applying to med schools myself, I can verify everything that he's saying. People who applied as black or Hispanic are getting into schools I didn't get into in spite of much lower stats and weaker overall applications. The racism is real.
Damn, I kinda feel bad for the white passing Hispanics and Arabs, with really light features. Imagine not benefiting of white privileges, but neither of diversity privileges 💀
@@babycherry8103 most of those white passing Hispanics and Arabs usually still apply as Hispanic or Black. I've known many of them to do it. Even a lot of indians cheat the system to do it

And a lot of other black people think the same it's just when other people come in to bash what has happened and is still happening that it makes us look bad, white people get a free pass on A LOT of stuff and that's just the truth of it and it isn't going to change but no one should get a free pass because of the color of their skin
not more important but equal cause college is the last defense between the real world and child hood and to prepare them for the real world they need diversity just imagine a black man going to an Asian doctor and the doctor not knowing how to treat them or how to talk to them or even worse treating them different from other patience
Umm I’m black I went to an all black school elementary, middle and high school. When I went away to college I met people of different races and I just treated them as any other person. I did not have to be taught how to treat people. Anyone who isn’t racist should know that you don’t treat people differently because of the color of their skin.
@@myisha7833 lol I made a bet you were but that's great but then that doesn't justify how good diversity is and how equity should be established not equality cause there are numerous stories of minority men dropping out cause they couldn't float in a white washed school
It is now, fuck all these apologists, you can try all the mental gymnastics you want, but they're now actively making it harder for asians and easier for blacks, just the way it is. Speak up and you're deemed a racist.
I’m white, but half Puerto Rican. said I was of Puerto Rican descent on my application. in college, I would get emails from the “diversity” center asking me to come to all these club meetings that my other 100% Caucasian friends didn’t get lol. Got three invitations to join a Latina sorority
So what if that was his story? Is it still right to accept a student's low school academics over a higher one because of their race/situation; or should they enroll solely based on academic merit?
being black doesn't mean youre in the ghetto. There's a lot living in poverty sure, but i have PLENTY of neighbors in my middle-class neighborhood that are black. And for those that haven't gone through the rough, their skin color gives them some sort of appreciation. I think that's what cheesecake was kinda going for. But i do agree, poverty isn't anything to look over.
T J it's funny since Democrats aka "those for the people" have controlled the ghettos that i and others grew up in and it's just gotten worse. Go figure
They are, but they're trying to account for the people who weren't able to afford a good high school education. Black communities generally don't have good schools that teach them how to score highly on standard tests, and aren't able to get to good universities, and so they can't afford to move to better comminutes and their children go through the same things. Affirmative action helps to break that cycle, and get minorities a better education to afford a better life. It's not a perfect system at all. The best solution would be for our government to start actually funding majority black k-12s and stop persecuting blacks, so they could have a good education from the start and not live in fear.... But this is America, and that's not going to happen :)
Bob Bobertson so if they don’t have a good education to begin with, then how are they going to do well in the colleges they’re accepted in? And what gives them the right to take other people’s spots who work just as hard and are likely more qualified?
I would *love* to forget about race and just focus on merit, but pink-skinned folks generally seem unwilling to do so. We in America have a centuries-long, ongoing, pervasive systematic bias to discount intelligence in women and colored folks, and unduly credit the intelligence (and general virtuosity) of pink-skinned males. A majority of Americans historically have -- and today still do -- consciously or subconsciously favor white male mediocrity over female / colored excellence. (I've often wondered why this is, until a few days ago when my cousin told me, "Follow the money!" Always good advice.) To take just one example: journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0001839216639577 (Kang, DeCelles, et al., "Whitened Résumés: Race and Self-Presentation in the Labor Market").
I think it's because of racism. Before affirmative action, it was easy for admissions departments to discriminate and favor white students, because it's almost impossible to prove that they chose the white student over the student of color because of skin color alone. Affirmative action encourages admissions departments to choose people of color as a way to try and cancel out this initial discrimination. In short, affirmative action is an idea that sprouts from the assumption that most people in admissions departments at least subconsciously prefer white students, and since there isn't a way to prove that, they looked for a different way to solve the problem. In the end, the student body should look like it would have looked if the people in charge of accepting students weren't racist.
Jack Kachel I get you, I really do. Affirmative action gives races other than white more opportunity. But let's give this some perspective. Slavery is done and over with. It's been gone for 200 years. It's been over 50 years since blacks have been given their equality by law. However, the effect of slavery and racism has not ended. A good amount of black live in poverty. They are raised in an environment in which they are told they won't succeed by focusing on their education. This is a ripple effect that must be ended. If more African Americans realize they can succeed and make it in life, that's one less family that relies on crime, drugs, and taking advantage of the system.
Krljavl Dzo- Or maybe they did work twice as hard and thats how they ended up there? Is it really that hard for you people to understand everybody who is non-white IS NOT lazy? And everybody whose white IS NOT hardworking?
Why is it a problem if Harvard has all Asians? Nobody complains that Howard Uni in D.C which has 80% blacks has too many blacks. Nobody complains too blacks in NFL and NBA.
Miftachul Hadi - Great comment. This guy is ridiculous - Asians have it harder?! Lmao. He was being willfully ignorant and missing the point on purpose.
WoW! You know something funny? I am visiting in Oakland ,CA and I met a man who was writing a grant to buy 50 books for a public middle school that does not have a library. Did you grow up in schools that have resources? Are you unaware that in the U.S. we fund our schools UNEQUALLY. ....Okay maybe I am out of line here, ,maybe you are not a product of the U.S. education system. And these policies are designed to hamper social mobility. Take a socialogy race and racism class while you are there at school or just read the first two chapters of "The Everyday Language of White Racism" its a great read that will make you question both of your first two sentences. Enjoy college.
You could accept people looking only at their merits but then that would risk still having a majority of white students because white people make up the majority of the country. What's bad about that? Well, when the majority groups up and discusses among themselves the minority -- without having them present in the conversation. (Colleges with only white people) They tend to view the minority negatively and incorrectly, keeping themselves separated from them in the future as they go out into the upper echelon of society where unbiased world view toward skin color is paramount toward civilized society.
yaggle fraggle No. It wouldnt inherently be racist, just not a diverse environment and the history of America shows undiversified environments are a breeding ground for future racist sentiments by the majority that also weild the power to act on the sentiments in both number and influence

@@qwertyuiop2161 The more I educate myself about this guy as you suggested, the more of a fraud he is. His affirmative action experiment was bullshit. He didn't apply to an Ivy league school with his 3.1 GPA. He applied to a middle tier school. His grades were sufficient enough. His background is that he is a sibling of an Indian actor. His sister doesn't condone what he did. He's a dark skinned Indian which means he faced racism from light skinned Indians in India. They come here to the US and practice anti black American racism to fit in with white Americans.
SA 4982 it's because asians are discriminated against with endless evidence. There was a Chinese boy with a 4.8 GPA, 1580/1600 on NEW SAT, ran an after school tutoring program and started a business to help students with the SAT and got declined by all IV schools
+Jalen Powe No that's the point SA 4982 is making... Why should race be a consideration for colleges? Literally racial quotas are just self-serving brownie points for the college "OMG! Look at our percentages of non-whites (and now non-Asians)! Like, we're so _diverseeee_ and stuff! We're giving ourselves a pat on the back for being so _inclusive_ teehee!" Like honestly, most Asian-Americans get into Ivy League colleges because they worked hard in school, that should be rewarded and they shouldn't be denied access just so the school can brag about it's racial "diversity" every semester. Who cares if Harvard is majority white, Asian, black, or any other?! As long as they got in there because of their schooling merits, their race is completely arbitrary. Ignoring the obvious discrimination happening to white and Asian kids who are usually male, this affirmative action shit is actually doing more harm to the people it claims to be helping (black people mostly) because it's what you would call "the soft bigotry of low expectations", it tells black people "Well we don't think you're _capable_ of meeting the standards that we hold our white and Asian students to, here's some free sympathy points you poor, uneducated black kid." It doesn't encourage black students to work hard on their education.
Jalen Powe Exactly my point. That is fucked up. RichardDJLilD No. I already know what it is, and it is bullshit. Yousif Plays. Damn I guess you are right, well good job on providing good arguments which challenged my point....Wait...Never mind, you didn't do any of that. NinjaKittKatt, Thank you. Seriously people, it is not like all colleges are ivy league, it is not like by allowing people who earned good grades to get in, no one else will get into college, if you don't have what it takes to be in an ivy league college, you shouldn't, go to a college made for someone with your grades. Seriously, why even have ivy league colleges if anyone can get in based on race alone.
He is trying to support a political cause to bring African American down. He looks decendants of SIddi tribes of India. They are originally from Africa. He is asian, yes but of African decendant too, who were brought and forgotten in India by British colonizers. To me he is still Black.

As a black man this is sad. I don’t care about life and I want to die so I don’t care about going to college, barely got through high school. Told the counselor to give me my diploma, I don’t want to walk your stage. But he has to pretend to be like me just to get a slot. Smh just make more decent schools.
The Race question should be removed from all forms because the question is irrelevant as to the character and capabilities of the individual. It's just another way to discriminate against people.
AnA well the thing is Asian people in this country have better grades and are more likely to get into better schools than whites. The schools would be entirely Asian without affirmative action because we work harder than you all. I'm Indian too but if I was black I'd get into Harvard easily.
My asian daughter passed MCA. But, she is not able to get into medical school. She is on a waiting list for over 2 years. She is give up on medical School. I suspect racism is a major problem in higher education system. They prefer only specific race.
Yes, because Indians are already black. *Black is a color.* He didn't change his _color_ at all. People should be using the word "African* if they want to talk about ethnicity. He's an *Indian* who pretended to be an *African.*
Getting into my undergrad university was one of the hardest thing I've done in my life - harder than getting into professional school to get my doctoral degree (I'm Asian). I remember during freshman chem lab we were all discussing our SAT scores and one guy said he got 1400 (this is back when it was out of 2400) and I was so shocked. In my asian community you needed to have at the very minimum a 4.3 GPA and 2100 SAT score to even think about applying to the university I went to. So unfair!!!
america is not a white supremacist country anymore, not even close. Its a black supremacist country, and unfortunately it comes at the cost of other minorities even more than whites
As in he wasn't being sarcastic, he was expecting a serious answer? I mean if the best applicants are 100% Asian then Harvard should be 100% Asian. I'm not even Asian that's just the way it is. How many black people is too many in the NFL? I don't give a fuck I want to see good football.
The best applicants in terms of MERIT should be chosen. We shouldn't be choosing anyone based on their skin color over somebody who worked harder or shows more passion in being there.
meshal alnashri not with affirmative action, it caters to the minorities who are underprivileged by making sure they are able to get into college for less money (sometimes free) and lower grades.
No. More and more Asians are getting into college... to control this high rate of Asians in college quotas are being placed to make it harder for them to get in.
cherry c. That is a whole load of bullshit. They do not just look at race. Race is one of the many things that look at. Affirmative action doesn't just dump a bunch of minorities in. It allows schools to be extra sensitive about race when they choose candidates with an approach that is HOLISTIC.
Lol call yourself mixed. I’m asian and I had to hide my race to get into a great school...my other asian friends with better grades than me didn’t get in. Sad but not surprising
Crystal Austin Well, if you got in the 99th percentile for testing scores, maintained a near-perfect GPA, actively participated in your school activities and sports, contributed heavily to community service, wrote a killer application essay, and got great recommendation letters - so pretty much devoted years of your childhood for a cumulation of impressive achievement - and got deferred by your dream school, then realizing kids with a 25 on the act, an average GPA, and minimal involvement or community contribution got accepted solely because of the color of their skin and the fact their parents had a slightly lower income, then you would complain too.
It's not a lack of empathy. Blacks just need to pull up their socks and work harder. Hike those socks up boy!!! Pull em up to yer titties if ya gotta is what I always say! Pull em up to her titties.
KienjeTheGiant This is a horribly dumb statement. With that logic, Asians should be happy that admissions are "against" them for being "so smart." They should be happy that admissions are harsher on them since they have such a high "intelligence" right? Haha as a minority at a prestigious university, I am doing better than most Asians. And I LOVE that I have an extra boost to my app of being a URM. Nothing wrong with being happy about having privileges! Who wouldn't be? That's why Asians are so butthurt they don't have those same privileges.
tbh they should not ask about your race in the application at all. When I applied to college in my country(Kuwait) the application did not include "choose your race" or something like that, I mean why do they even care what race are you it's still racist if accept someone because they are in a minority.
No it only shows that the standards are very very low for black students. They don’t they they are capable to compete with white/Asian students so they gotta lower the standard for them. A lot of people are going to claim they are black just to get into medical or these elite colleges. They can literally claim they are mixed with black so therefore I am black.
This is actually offensive. Not bc he pretended to be black bc that shit is funny. Im just upset that the bar is lower for black ppl. Like what are they trying to say?
uh whut? Ok, the real answers: 1 Universities do not want to have a monolithic culture (outside of the profession/traditions of the specific college and the liberal arts tradition of the university), but they are designed so that those from the majority culture (or trained for it) will perform optimally on assessments of all types (because the assessments and their utilizations are biased). Part of the policy is to correct for this. 2 While quantified measures are informative, they are not a good measure of the two most important aspects of success, a completion of the program, and b performance after graduation. However, non quantified measures are difficult/impossible to impartially assess. So, how do you choose who to enroll? Good scores, good letters, good essays do not equal passing, or being a good doctor. But they are useful for deciding the candidate's alignment with the college's capabilities and mission. That alignment is the major deciding factor for admission. State schools in particular, are affected by internal and external pressures to be agents for opportunity and specific, mission oriented, changes in society (both local and far reaching.) Think of them as a charity of sorts. I can speak specifically for the med schools trying to enroll more black students. This is closely related to disparities in care and a long and ingrained culture of racism by doctors and hospital leadership. If you were a black doctor in the 90's and 2000's you were likely passed up for select opportunities, regardless of your abilities. Now, 20 years later, this would mean that you would be the less qualified candidate for hospital leadership. Such racism is on the decline, but still exist and the effects will persist for another generation of doctors at least. Many (perhaps most at this point, and all leading ones) med schools have taken a stance of trying to address this. As for the disparities in care, it turns out provider perceptions of the patient's race directly affects the quality of care the patient receives. Race is also correlated with access to care and care seeking behavior. The med schools are actively looking for students who have a vested and passionate interests in addressing these kinds of problems. This will bias towards those who have reasons to be vested and passionate.
Don't get to upset becauae we do juat as well with our needed scores. Our iq scores don't have to be as high because it's not needed. Whites new an higher IQ to function than us. We can function in life normally wuth an IQ of 70, but if whites are a 70, they r damn near retarded. We are juat created differently. Equally, but different.
they are trying to say that unqualified blacks are getting spots under the guise of diversity....if you are having brain surgery...do you want the smartest, best surgeon or one who made the minimum to pass???
GuppyPal it is. and it's actually legally imposed racism. because it comes from the state. the state being racist and a citizen being racist are 2 separate categories. we CANT let the government be racist against it's citizens; in order for freedom to exist.. but we have to let another hold personal beliefs, like being racist; in order for freedom to exist. what's here is the opposite...
Affirmative action is actually the definition of illegal racism. we citizens can't be racist against ourselves, but the government can be racist down on us? That is wrong. bad laws. terrible policies.

The reason people still use black as a term for african/mixed africans is because way back in the day they were so dark they looked near black. But now due to africans mixing or moving to different climates they are getting lighter.
In case you didn't understand this from my OP, I wouldn't call anyone white or black. White is the color of the background of this page and black is the color of the letters we are typing. Neither of these are accurate for the majority of people's skin so they definitely couldn't apply to large groups of people. This guy is every bit as much "black" as a Caucasian is "white". Anyone that has lived in America their entire life is just American to me. There is nothing wrong with someone tracing back their ancestry to Africa or Britain or Korea, but they shouldn't put any importance to that over where they have lived their entire lives. My ancestors (that I know of) were Choctaw, Irish, and English, but I always have been and always will be American (even if I move to another country, I will still hold on to being an American in some capacity, because I was born here and I spent so much of my life here). Adding white or black accomplishes nothing but racism (as we see in this very video, where the guy was accepted based on a word that doesn't even accurately describe people). For a better picture of what I'm talking about, let me tell you about my cousins. Their mother is what you would call "white" (her ancestry includes the same Choctaw and Irish as mine), and both of their dads (they are half-brothers) are what you would call "black" (each ancestry includes African). The younger one's skin color is just as light, if not lighter, than his mother's, while the older one's skin is a light brown. If you saw them, you would call the older one "black" and the younger one "white", but, according to how you're trying to define black and white, they should both be considered black. In fact, whenever the younger one tells people he is black, they call him a liar. But, he has every bit the same claim of being "black" as the older one, and no one ever questions him. The bottom line here is that skin color means very little in regards to what your ancestry is, and what your ancestry is should have very little to do with how you live your current life. Where you were born and where you live is what really determines what you are (nationality-wise).
SgtSupaman okay I understand where you are coming from now, and yes I've meet many people such as your cousins who a indeed "black" but are very light so people don't believe them. I do think that while knowing your ancestry and acknowledging where you come is great, but like you said if we focus too much on that then it's pointless because we aren't them but ourselves. Another point is that black does mean Brown, but has only ever been associated with African people that that is what people only refer to now, is that only africans or mixed African can be black. Thank you for pointing out your opinions nicely and respectfully instead of like most people on youtube.
But then some races will do a lot more poorly than other races if success is based on merit and not quotas, that's the ugly truth of the matter that liberals won't accept. That isn't to say some individuals within those groups won't have success, but said success will have little effect in raising the overall performance of the group.
Mr. King Kitty you’re right. Besides, this affirmative action stuff is just butchering the black graduation statistics. You put people in college who are obviously not ready, then you wonder why the graduation rate for that demographic is less than 40%
hyphy1985 What is your point ? He still doesn’t qualify for affirmative action no matter how dark he is because he’s not of African descent aka black. Black is a term used to refer to people of African American descant.
Vicky Martinez LMAO. You just pointed out the problem with affirmative action. "He still doesn't qualify for affirmative action." Asians are even more of a minority than African Americans or Hispanics and Latinos in the US, and yet they are being declined admissions because there's too many Asians with higher average test scores. Affirmative action is affecting a minority population negatively. That is why admissions should be based on SES (socioeconomic status), which includes being first generation student, low-income family, lack of access to quality education, working 3 jobs to support family, etc etc and NOT be based on the color of your skin.
He got into med school with a 3.1?? I have black friends in medical school, but none of them have a GPA that low lmao wtf. He must have had a stellar MCAT score.
Well you must have at least 50 W's on your transcript. Get your science GPA up and get at least a 500+ and you should be able to get into any DO school you want.
Joshua Hunter it’s called racial bais to make campus look more equal and representative of every culture which is idiotic and stupid...if you earn it you earn it enough with the hand outs to minority’s who aren’t even gonna be minority’s in a few years 😂
Michael O'Connor That’s a completely foolish statement. Once you reach medical school, the floor is an equal playing field. No racial bias with test scores or residencies. It’s sink or swim for everyone, so no doctor is going to be underprepared to serve.
Ultimakey right but they’re denying people medical schooling that might excel way more than the kids getting in over skin color So maybe when you get there there’s “equity” but there’s nothing equal about the way they are forced to accept applications or deny others based off race...and it does come back into play in the workforce just look into it some more before you say it’s reasonable I didn’t choose to be Asian but because I’m Asian I can’t get into any schools? Seems fair lmao
Michael O'Connor If you are qualified, you will most likely get into a medical school. If you are nitpicking Harvard over Dartmouth or Cornell over NOVA MD, then that’s you. Every medical school produces a prepared doctor. This isn’t so much of an issue except at the top end and the lower end of the applicant spectrum. Qualified people aren’t going to lose their chance of becoming a doctor to a URM.
