This video is very useful for everyone interested in studying in Germany! Just keep in mind there are no tuition fees for public universities anymore! :)

Ok, so this is fairly cheap. I should still look into the different programs that will get me here. (Links from the previous videos.)

Dude I love Germany, it's just amazing I cant wait to get there. But I have a question.. is it easy to make friends in Germany? From where I come from, social life is important, thus I dont want to end up lonely there... But however it turns out to be, Germany is one great country to live in.

Hi, each German university is responsible for determining its own admission policies. That’s why you should ask the International Office at the German university of your choice whether you fulfill all the requirements for admission and how much of your previous academic work will be recognised. You will find a list of universities and courses in our database www.study-in.de/en/plan-your-studies/find-programme-and-university/ Best wishes, your Study in Germany Team

I'm an American looking to out of this broken education system University is about 9 months away for me and I still don't know where to go or how to get in. Community Colleges are about $5,000 a year for a full class load in California where I live. However, they're extremely impacted, with 4 year programs taking at times 6 years to complete if you can't find your way on a priority list for classes. In addition, they've adopted sneaky policies which requires many, if not most students, to take expensive remedial classes before they can take the classes required for their degrees. These remedial classes count for absolutely nothing. Nothing. NOTHING. They also can tack on another $2,000-$3,000. It's $5,000 a year no matter how you slice it, and it can take up to 6 years for a 4 year degree. So... $20,000 to $30,000 for a CHEAP American education without cost of living. A public university in California, where all classes are available, cost $16,000-$20,000 a year. Usually includes somewhat of a living and eating plan. These are very very very difficult to get in to. Students must have spotless grades and have to be involved in multiple community activities (keeping records down to the hour in the latter) in order to be excepted. Private universities... $33,000-$50,000 a year Usually covering housing and a meal plan. For some reason, students have an easier entrance than public universities. Forgiving bad grades and not big on community involvement. A girl at my school, valedictorian, applied to a public university in northern California and Harvard University in Massachusetts and was Rejected by the public university, but was accepted by Harvard. If that doesn't show the problems with the public higher education system in America, nothing will. That all being said and noted, I'm looking to take refuge to Europe to try and Ditch this ridiculous display of greed by the higher education institutions in America. I'm not a child of fortune (far from it) My parents are divorced. One's a social worker and one is disabled Not even of the middle class. They can't afford this bill and chances of me being able to afford this with job availability at an extreme low where I am, even with higher education, I am willing to find a way to shell out a few bills in exchange for a proper education and a better life. Would Germany be a viable option? Or will the cost of living outweigh the tuition break? Are Visas that hard to get? How are university acceptance? I could research this, but instead of being flooded with vague articles like I have, I just want straight answers. (cost of living where I live is around $13,000 a year, while minimum wage, if you can get a job, is $10,000 for a full time, 40hr work week.)

I'm afraid you'll have to get informed on your own on such non-trivial matters, there's no way around that. My advice is to inform yourself at authorities for such matters, such as German foreign ministry or German consulate or similar, rather than on youtube. Here is a link in English to get you started. www.auswaertiges-amt.de/EN/EinreiseUndAufenthalt/LernenUndArbeiten/ArbeiteninD_node.html Here is my opinion to your questions: Germany is a viable option if you learn the German language beforehand, or find a place where they have lectures in English - the latter will extremely limit your choices as most institutions teach in German. Some offer only few lectures in English to occupy exchange students for a semester or so. Consider a "working holiday" or similar to live and work in Germany first, learn the language, get to know country and people. This would also help you to make first connections - if you're in Germany, you can apply to Universities or Colleges etc. much easier. Cost of living depends on the place you live in - in my experience 13,000$ a year is about what you'll need in Germany as well - where I live rent for a suitable flat will run you about 300-400€ per month - or you can opt for a cheaper "WG" flat where you share a bigger flat (and the costs for it) with several people (usually students). If you can manage to work in addition to studies, beginning with year 2015 Germany will have a minimum wage of 8,50€ per hour if I remember correctly. Visas are probably not hard to get for US citizens - though that's just my guess as I've never had to go through the process. Generally if you find employment or get accepted as a student and there is nothing that speaks against admitting you to the country (like diseases, legal issues or similar) I don't think you'll be turned down. In short - if you learn German either beforehand, or during a working holiday or similar stay, you'll probably do just fine. If you're not prepared to do that, it might still be possible, but would probably be a major pain in the ass for you.

+Donovan Doran It's very doable to study in Germany or other free or cheap tuition countries (France, Scandinavia, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, bunch of other places). Contact the German consulate or the Goethe language institute near you (or equivs for other countries), they usually have info. Also the universities themselves often have sites for int'l students. Also some of the German newspapers and magazines like Spiegel and Deutsch welle often have info guides that you can Internet search for. I teach computer programming and many of my own students have enrolled in Germany and overseas, without cost. Living expenses are modest and they help you to get campus jobs, plus they help you with German language courses if you're not fluent to start out with, I think the other countries do this too. Good luck.

depending on the city in germany you can live(food+flat) for around 600 bucks a month so round up 7500 dollars a year university400-800 bucks a year healthcare(must have) 800 bucks a year you can work only 3 months(fulltime) a year with a student visa so you cant cover all living costs depending on the country you are from you have different visa conditions: worst case: blocked bank account with 8000euros(for 1 year living in advance) to get a visa

Arianna Noorzai you have to keep in mind that the amount of students for the popular studies are limited, so most people don't make the cut and have to wait for several years or study sth different. Public universities are very overflood in general which means the facilities (library, lecture halls) are often not accessable.

Hi Philippe, yes, to study in Germany you need to have a higher education entrance qualification which, in most cases, is the school-leaving certificate. Have a look at the DAAD admission database: daad.de >Study and research in Germany > 10 steps to studying in Germany > Requirements > University admission and requirements Best wishes, your DAAD-team

I am going to University in Münster, Germany, studying human medicine. I am paying about 280€ per Semester. I am from the Netherlands. There were some questions regarding language in the comments: Yes, you have to learn German since almost all courses, tests and everything are in German. You even need a high level of German language skills to read and write scientific papers in German. There is no way around it.

there's an update if you plan to study in the german state of Baden-Württemberg. There are no more tuition fees in this state (previously 500 EUR/Sem.). But there may still exist administrative charges of around 100 EUR/Sem.

Germany is in general no immigration country. Its actually difficult to immigrate to Germany if you don't have a citizenship from other EU country witch also signed the EU Schengen treaty. It´s a bit like with the Green Card in the US. You can get a limited residence permission for studying, if you are accepted at a university. But a general immigration is actually difficult, if you don't found first a really well paid job in Germany.

@muis786 In order to study for a bachelor's degree at a German university your school leaving certificate must have the same standard as the German Abitur. If not, you have to do a preparatory course at a Studienkolleg first: studienkollegs.de/en/. But this depends also on the exact programme you wish to study and the admission requirements set by the university. Please check our database: daad.de/deutschland/studienangebote/international-programmes/07535.en.html

@StudyinGermany_de
@StudyinGermany_de 5 лет назад
Hi Monied,Medical students in Germany have to complete a six-year programme which ends with the State Examination (Staatsexamen). There are no courses offered in English, so you will need very good German skills to complete the programme and pass the examinations. Courses in medicine can be found in our database: www.daad.de/hec/medicine Usually language proficiency equivalent to B2 level is required to study a course in the German language. Please check the specific requirements on the website of the programmes you are interested in or get in touch with the International Office of the university. Best wishes,your Study in Germany team

Well my honest opinion is that foreigners in germany should be treated as if germans are in other countries. But in general the opinions are split. You have to imagine that german workers make it possible that education is so cheap within germany.by paying a lot of tax. So when foreigners come from all over the world to enjoy this good condition than it is a little unfair towards some people. What is your opinion about it? Kind regards

Hi guys! I would really love to study Archaeology in Germany. I am from England, but I'm currently staying in Berlin. I am really enjoying learning German too. I briefly studied in University in England but became very sick. Could I get any scholarships for my studies here? I was thinking of studying in Kiel or near the alps.

hello, i am from romania and i would like to study in germany. I am curious if the universities have students hostel ? And if they do , how much does it costs? Also , i have visited the DAAD website , but i find it kinda confusing, how do you actually get in touch with someone from a german university? Also, in order to be accepted there you have to take some extra exams (beside the ones you've already taken in your country?) and where can i find wich ones?

Hi! I'm sorry but I was just wondering if the guy in this video is an actor, because I have seen a supposedly 'music video' (probably just made out of a movie or tv show) of him with a girl and I wanted to know if anyone knows his real name because I want to watch THE movie/tv show he is i think a part of. I tried asking the 'uploader' of the "music video" but he wouldn't tell me (no idea why). Whoever knows it, please do send me a message. Thank you so much!

Hey Max, can you help me? I am about to attend my last year of high school in Italy and for the year 2016/17 I'd like to apply for a German University. The problem is that my exams will take place in July and I won't have my high school qualification, which is needed for my application, before September. The application deadline for the winter semester in Germany is 15 July. What can I do? I tried asking the International Office and some universities but they're on holiday :( . I know it's a bit early, but I feel like I'm running out of time with all the papers I need to go through :( can you help me?

Hi Balyala,the tuition fees at German universities are very low, and some universities charge no tuition fees at all. Most German universities are funded by the government. Normally students in bachelor’s programmes don’t have to pay tuition fees. Low tuition fees are charged, however, for master’s degree programmes. All students have to pay a semester contribution. For more information, see the section on money and costs: www.study-in.de/en/plan-your-stay/money-and-costs/Best wishes,your Study in Germany team

Hi Balyala,please check the website of the course for tuition fees. They can vary alot depending on the programme. Some don’t charge tuition fees, but others do, especially private universities: www.study-in.de/en/plan-your-studies/find-programme-and-university/ Best wishes,your Study in Germany team

Hi Danah, for most degree programmes, knowledge of German is a prerequisite for admission to German university. You can prove your German language proficiency by taking a language test, such as the TestDaF or DSH. +Andre Almeida Hi Andre, you should ask the International Office at the German university of your choice whether you fulfill all the requirements for admission and how much of your previous academic work will be recognised. They could inform you about your possibilities of starting your studies in your homecountry and continue studying in Germany.
