chasef89 exactly my thought 🤔 maybe she meant that she didn't think it would add up so much? That would still make her a horrible math student lol
@m.tantan8813
@m.tantan8813 7 лет назад
Harry Hammonds hmm maybe. But you would think that when someone takes out a loan, they would want to know what the interest rates are 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have a PhD in maths and didn't think about it at all. I still don't think about it now I am supposed to be repaying it, it's a non-factor, none of this stuff really matters.

chasef89 as a fellow accounts student, accounts doesn't mean calculating EVERYTHING. Yes, we do calculations and stuff but focused more on how to classfied certain payments. So I would say 80% of the time, we arranged and classified all accounts recorded then calculate (which is basically simple maths) so it makes sense if she hasn't realised about it. Besides, we don't really learn much about interest. Interest is in economics. Hopes this clear up. Sorry for the bad english :3

@Owwwy You actually have 3 attempts? If it is free one fail and your out. If college being free allows you to pursue your passion in the field you want, which is the main argument for free college, there is no reason for you to ever fail at what is apparently your passion.

Coming from someone in college, to cut the costs, just go to community. My best friend is paying 25k a year at a instate private college. I go to a community college, for 4k or less, 1 after financial aid. In two years I transfer out. In four years, she'll be 100k in debt and (assuming I go to a four year after community) I'll have less than half that amount of debt, all for the same degree.

Marianna Soto i have tons of friends going to community who are planning on transferring to a 4 year university. I myself got lucky, I'm going to a private school that I would never be able to afford, but I'm getting a ton of financial aid. Dont forget to fill out a FAFSA if you're american, it helps a lot. Also, scholarships

I'm from the Philippines and I've been feeling guilty on the sudden expenses my dad is willing to pay just for me to study to a good private college. I did not pass any good public school and I regret not studying for those schools. Seeing this video somehow got me aware of the reality of life and that education is really an investment your parents or yourself is willing to sacrifice just to have a stable job or even a one heck of a good job for your future. Just thinking about all of these expenses makes my heart in pain and sad for myself because I became irresponsible to not get into a good public university. Making my dad double his work just to sustain me and my siblings education this and upcoming years. To all the people out there who is like me right now and felt guilty of not doing good on college entrance exams don't worry you aren't the only one. Wishing for all the anxious students out there a bless college years! Let's do our best to give back all of our parent's sacrifices in the near future!

How it works after High School 1. Don't go to college and take your small chance at success 2. Don't go to college just to realize its hard without a degree and then be forced to graduate way later than everyone else 3. Go to college for a risky degree while wasting a ton of money just to have a really risky chance at a decent job 4. Go to college for a more safe degree while wasting a ton of money just to have pretty much all your friends competing with you for the same jobs because of such high competition. 5. Go to college for a really safe degree while wasting a ton of money just to realize you hate your job and have to put up with it for the rest of your life or go back to school for something more fulfilling, but risk it all over again. Welcome to 2017 everybody, but seriously I hope everyone pulls through and keeps hustling. I personally chose a very unique path.

@asdakuhi8h

I disagree. Although you will most likely be in debt for a few years, you will soon start to out-earn a Walmart employee. You can also work in a field that you enjoy instead the endless drivel that you have to do in retail. More people should look into trade skills that they can learn at Community College. There's a huge demand for them because most of the people working them are going to retire. It'll practically cost nothing.

I don't know why more people won't take this route. It's significantly cheaper and if you ever want to change your major, it is not that much of a hassle. There's a really bad thinking of people that go to CC are the "not so smart people," which is something I hate .I think most people go to a big university to experience the independence and party which is not a good reason imo.
@LovelyLeahMichelle
@LovelyLeahMichelle 7 лет назад
It can be difficult to transfer out. You have to be very careful about what classes you take, my university accepts very little from the CC at my home town, and non of the major courses could be accepted. I had a roomate who came in as a Jr from a 4yr and only got soph level of credit accepted, he ended up having to take a total of 5 years. Also you have to accept some colleges at some universities do not accept anything other then Freshman or internal transfers. So lesson: going to CC is great but you have to be careful or you can end up wasting alot more money then simply going to 4 yr college to start out with. moving from CC to 4 year also can mess up your GPA, alot will not add those in so all you fluff classes are removed and your GPA is based purely off your last 2 years and you have no chance of saving it if you make a bad grade in a course. (sorry long just wanted to show CC also has a set of challenges/setbacks)
@stefxbby
@stefxbby 7 лет назад
Leah Lawson I don't know what "challenges" you are talking about. I graduated HS with a 1.5 GPA, went to CC, graduated in 2 years & got a full ride to UCLA. I am going to school tuition free and they are paying for my room and board. I don't know what's so "difficult" about that but CC is definitely the better option.

In my opinion, undergraduate degrees are worth taking out a loan for:1. Business degrees such as Finance, Marketing, Analytics, etc. 2. IT majors: Computer Science and Data Science. 3. Engineering Degrees. Don't go for liberal arts degrees if that means you'll be in debt for the next 20 years.

@alixt.3090
@alixt.3090 7 лет назад
Ashley, it's very honest. It's really funny when you're looking at how much med school costs and thinking about someone trying to save up anywhere near that much money before med school. OP, sorry if I offended you, but from a med student to a pre-med, I really wouldn't stress too much about trying to save for med school right now. You're going to have to take out student loans anyway.

Neil Sahai the amount of people that get enough scholarships to cover all 4 years of college is very slim. It's not that simple. I've applied for tons of scholarships and applied for financial aid. I'm very lucky that my school gives out high financial aid packages but some schools DON'T do that.

Public colleges in Brazil are the best ones and you do a test to get a spot there, when you can't do it you go to a private college that the price depends in what you want to study. In general, even in Brazil studying is wayyyyyy cheaper.
