Have you tried bitter melon before? It's something I've grown to love over the years. What kind of food didn't you enjoy as much growing up but love to eat now? 🥦🍛🍜🍝🍠🥗🥒
My mum used to cook stir fried bitter melon with pork in black sauce it definitely is an acquired taste, over the years I got used to it, now I appreciate the health benefits. Your dish looks really good and so tasty. Thank you Thun for sharing 🙏🏻😄❤️👍
I'll have to try stir frying it. This soup doesn't have a bitter taste at all, though the bitter melon has a slight bitterness. It's not very noticeable. Thank you for sharing and for watching 😊
You can use cilantro leaves instead. The flavor of cilantro is not noticeable but blends in with the flavors to add a nice fragrance. You can also leave it out.
I have access to frozen bitter melon in a local Asian store, would this work for this recipe & do I treat it differently to fresh? I’m not sure the defrosted melon would hold up to soaking process or if that would even be necessary? I do think the frozen pieces (which are a lot smaller & may not work for stuffing) still have the white pith.
I’ve never used frozen bitter melon before and curious if it will become mushy when defrosted. I’m sure it will still taste good. You can treat it the same way to a fresh one. If it doesn’t hold up, you can add the chunks to the soup and make meatballs with the filling to drop in. That would work too
