Now that is a great job man ! I recently bought the M3 and for years i have been shooting a lothar walther barrel and i must say no mather how good the groups would get with the M3 they wil never get so tight and consistent like the lothar walther. I never wanted to buy an FX because i never seen people shoot groups like i did myself but the long range slug shooting convinced me to buy the M3. Hope i get this thing tuned like it has to be, now i'm facing a regulator that is the one day 170 bar next day 185 bar...pfff The barrel is like a whip, saber tactical rail feels like a spring to rest the bipod on... Trigger second stage ball grips next to the resting pin when you want to screw it out to much so i gonna have to shorten the hammer grip to solve this problem... Omg they were right that this is the most tuneable air rifle... not mentioning thats because everything needs to be tuned... Thanks for sharing !!
Tuning is half the fun, playing around and tinkering is what I love to do and the FX rifles tickle that side of me, but you will get it sorted and shooting straight. Thanks for watching.
@@user045-key77"indexed" is that like the harmonic barrel tuning ? I do think you can also ad weight to the barrel like with a cilencer... First you have to serach for what the projectile optimal speed is and what the best regulator pressure is combined with the best hammer spring tension. I'm verry curious about the harmonic barrel tuner however i realy don't think it can improve something to the tuning i have done so far because the harmonics now are perfect i guess.
Another great video mate👍great start to strengthening rifle. There's a few things wrong with impact regarding point of impact shift. Biggest one is how the rail is fixed. Theres no keyway keeping the rail true to the action, using only three standard screws instead of shoulder bolts(basic engineering). It's just flat to flat surface. That Titan on there is a lump of scope, so picking it up out the box could be enough to shift poi, there's that many separate parts in that rifle just looking at it wrong could shift poi, lol. You can literally twist the rifle in your hands. Bag rider will help with stability.
You hit the nail on the head there, no hard points and everything is bolted together without any alignment, if I squeeze the rifle I can get different POI depending on how tight I pull the rifle in, so its defiantly moving on its own, the lack of insulation between the rifle and shooter I.E a stock, really makes the rifle temperamental. I am planning on installing some dowel pins in the block so that I can have some alignment and hopefully minimize the amount the rifle can bend, but the barrel should make a small improvement as its more solid and sturdy then the liner system. but we will see. Thanks for watching.
Hi, I can't find any further coments or updates as to whether the BSA barrel continued to keep its zero better than the STX liner, I have a similar problem with a MKIII wildcat and wonder if it's worth going down the route of having a barrel machined to fit as a replacement to th liner.
@@sub12airgunners I know you coulldn't find any real difference in accuracy with the carbon liner , but do you think it may help with rigidity and thus the zero shift problem.
Interesting test and in my opinion it’s why the FAC STX barrels are so harmonically fussy and also why fx is now bringing out the carbon inner sleeve to give rigidity. STX is an amazing system as it allows flexibility but at the cost of rigidity and the rifling system suits airguns far better than traditional hammer type so with the liner fixing the rigidity issue that will give you another comparison to try
Yeah, not sold on the liner system to be honest, I prefer a good traditional barrel, and the lengths FX are going to to stiffen the liners seems to highlight the point even more. They are accurate and they do work, but they just seem so hit and miss, some are fantastic and some are super fussy and need lots of TLC to get them to work. Thanks for watching.
@@sub12airgunners will be interesting to see what the effect CF liner has its almost an admission that the rigidity isn't there and needs improved even the pricing @£25 is virtually at cost. Wonder if an "STX 2" system complete with the liner is about to appear !
I ended up getting a HFT 500 barrel turned to fit the impact and then fitting an airmarksman backbone, the barrel almost cured the poi shift and the backbone finished the job much more rgid.
@@sub12airgunners Do you not fancy machining something along the lines of the backbone from a solid billet of aluminium to add to the rigidity and see what improvements you might gain.
I turned the BSA one down to fit, the FX one is 14mm OD, and the BSA was 15.6mm, but then was turned to 14mm to fit in the impact. Thanks for watching.
How simple was it to machine a blank? I’ve just bought a Dreamline tactical and although it shoots most pellets well it doesn’t shoot anything stunningly. So I’ve been thinking about having a LW blank made up. Is it just a case of threading the blank for the transfer port to be screwed onto?
Pretty much, its no more difficult than a standard barrel, this one already had the 1/2 unf on the end, but this one was turned down to 14mm OD then threaded one end M12x1 for the TP and I put the relief cut for the end on it where it goes into the block. Thanks for watching and good luck with your barrels.
@@sub12airgunners thanks mate one of the reasons I bought the Dreamline was it’s ease to change barrels and cals so I plan on having a few barrels and cals for her.
weird video for me as I have a BSA r10 TH and just got a FX maverick.I thought the maverick would be levels better in shooting but it is not.I would like too see if the bsa is better but I need some new scope mounts first
A good BSA is hard to beat, not convinced on the maverick myself, going to give it one more chance down the range but its not a fantastic rifle to shoot, its accurate and very good on air, but its not a nice rifle to shoot, Thanks for watching and good luck.
its hard to say, some people really like the old solid barrel and some say its useless, I suppose its just if you get a good one or bad one, if I had a choice I would choose the STX liner though. Thanks for watching.
You may struggle getting one to fit, the FX barrels have a 14mm shank and the BSA and Brocock's I have seen use a 12mm shank, it may be possible to do but you would need to remake the transfer port and steel joiner piece. You may be better off getting a polygon Lothar walther barrel and having it machined. Thanks fore watching.
Yeah lots of factors involved, but the Impact (in my collection of rifles) seems to suffer the worst for POI shift. But hopefully we can minimize it or make it better in some way. Thanks for watching.
Hello dear Neighbor I´m here to ask, if you would/could accept.... I´ve got an Gamo Coyote I would love to have a longer Barrel 600-700mm Unfortunately BSA won't sell aftermarket Barrels Why do I want it? I assume much higher power A much quieter gun A more efficient gun Tune my Coyote for Slugs I got it currently at 820 fps with 21gr H&N slugs It's fairly accurate, shooting quail eggs at 75m is no challenge however you seem like you know what you do Obviously im willing to pay your work if you can't accept it, I'll respect that Thanks a lot and greetings from Portugal!
Sorry we can't take other peoples rifles, you need a RFD licence here in the UK to take in rifles for work, and I don;t have one. Sorry, thanks for watching.
