Thank you about the hair. I spent 30 plus years as a police officer and kept it short. Now I am retired and have long hair. It looks great. So many people have said, "oh I thought you would have kept it short now that you are over 50." Good thing I am not armed anymore. Lol.
Wearing your hair short helps its strength. I see many people who had long hair growing up.Now their hair is fine and receding. I had short hair for years. Now its long, blonde and healthy.
And not only. It is sooo deliberating. As long as we chase youth we'll be very dissapointed and unhappy. As we can't reverse the clock no matter what we do or how hard we try. As soon we embrace ourselves and our age life feels good again.
I am so happy you mentioned the fact that we don't need to try to look 10 years younger. Nothing wrong with looking our own age while being chic and stylish. I feel most comfortable just being myself. Thank you for your lovely videos that are such an inspiration to be polished and joyful with style!
I told you is just a number or number of your house. You feel young! so wear young style, & it will reflect in your personality. We’re already old,& yet we wear old style/fashion?? Then the more we look ooolldd.Whe. You feel young, you wear young, you look young.. period. Life is too short, whatever we make happy! Go for it, Sweetie😊😀😘
@@marymohagheghi4875 hi, i am watching from the Philippines & i am 68 but still wearing dress with high slit at the side, skirt above the knee & shorts. i even use crob blouses...
I agree with you Beth about age and the way we dress. I never think about my age when I am buying clothes. If I like it and think I look good in it, I buy it.
Me as well. I have a lot of health conditions but I never let it stop me from putting myself together before I leave the house and making sure that everything I wear makes me feel good
Thank you!. In just 6 days I'll be 56. I stopped coloring my hair when the pandemic started. I never hid my age, but I've neglected my appearance at this time. I was motivated by your video. A hug from Honduras
Dear Beth, thank you again for the great message you sent today. Grace, kind, selfconfidence and to be supportative is what actually make us bright at a certain age! Let's enjoy it. ❤️
Totally agree. Our health is the most important. With health and positivity we’ll achieve a great life for ourselves, family and friends. I appreciate you and your channels / content.
Hi .Beth I'm agree but when someone tell you .you look younger .I feel great yes but I like when I feel comfortable .love too see your video because your style elegant and conservative.thanks again blessings🍁🍂👜💃💃
Beth, thank you for this message I'm 66 and I agree with just about every word you said. I'm not hiding my age and I'm often offended by favorite bloggers whose platform seems to always be, how to look younger! I don't want to look younger, I just want to be the best Me, I can be. The one thing I question is hair. My hair like yours has always been short, now it's shorter! But I do know a couple of ladies where the long hair really does drag their faces down and they look much older to me. For them shoulder length would probably work better. I love long silver locks, but I think you have to study your face in a mirror and decide if the long hair is still attractive or not. Thanks again for this video. So many women are so insecure as they get older, and they need to hear, It's ok! We don't need to be 20 again!
I think you have to study your features and see what hair length suit you better and that goes for any age!!! long hair did not suit me very well after my teens!!!!
I agree with you. I'm 57 and I am proud of my age! I don't want to "look good for my age," I want to just, look good. I've always had my hair on the short side too, only because I have so many issues with my hair. I've found a bob which suits me and I've kind of stuck to it. I do let it grow out and sometimes I do different versions of bobs but that's definitely my preference.
I think my style was always classic. I couldn’t afford to get every new trend off the runway. I still have beautiful classic pieces I purchased 20 years ago. I love adding trendy pieces that don’t break the bank. One thing I think keeps me feeling young is always changing my hair with a fresh new color or an extreme cut from long to short. God Bless, love your channel.
I love that you rock your natural gray hair with a cute short haircut. I am 65 and have just lost 55 lbs.I can finally tuck in my shirts and where belts. I wear what I like without looking like a child. A person can look classy and modern, and also look modest. I have a short asymetrical gray haircut.
I’m 62 and I love your style and your positive advice. I just want to look and feel my best for who I am right now. I love to look stylish and not frumpy.
Thank you for this! I've been feeling sad, because I am older. But you opened up my eyes too alot of things. I am going to embrace my age and be happy. Blessings!
Variety is the spice of life... you said it correctly. To be you and wear what makes you feel good. Thank you for this video Beth, you are the best at motivating us and supporting other women♥️
Love it. Thanks for challenging the usual script. Simply, you look good, avoid looking frumpy, have a haircut that suits you, long or short. I'd like to add, if I see one more style tip video that favours a "heel" as "better" than a flat, I'll scream. In my 50's and haven't worn heels for decades, nor can I. I refuse to be uncomfortable. Wearing shoes bad for your feet (high, pointy, hard, poor fit) will usually have consequences later in life. You can have the most expensive, most beautiful shoes in the world, but if you aren't comfortable in them there's no point.
Hi Beth...I’m 76 and appreciate all your videos and positive comments for us who are over 50+. We’re healthy, vibrant and don’t want to sit home in rocking chairs! I go to the gym for Silver Sneaker classes three days per week and enjoy going out with friends as well as playing Mahjongg to challenge my mind. We can do what we enjoy at this age and “be the best we can be”.
Hi Beth, totally agree with you that we are not trying to look younger we are looking to be the best version of ourselves inside and out. Loved your video and tips!
My sister passed on at the age of 36 after a courageous battle from cancer. So every year we live is a gift! we should be blessed & proud to say our age! However, women will avoid telling their age ( & weight) because this country encourage them to do so after 39! Yet older men are supported when they brag about their age and weight. Such shallow double standard! You dress like my amazing sister Angela which is a HUGE compliment! Angela look like Susan Luccie from All My Children. She was such a class act lady and humble genius as well. Angela was the best daughter, mother, wife, registered nurse, and friend and neighbor! Truly enjoy your station.Thank you and blessed new year.
I'm 40 and I watch all your videos and follow you exactly because I believe that age is of no importance when it comes to beauty and elegance! Keep up with the good work!
I spend a lot of time with people much younger than me. I'm one of the oldest people doing my sport. I usually think that it helps keep me young. But lately have been feeling old, and feeling the age difference. But THIS is what 54 looks like for me. And my sport does keep me young and fit!
Your points made clear how skewed perceptions on aging for women can be. As someone whom is rediscovering my own style at a certain age, I enjoyin my long silver hair and how I dress which includes midi shirts which has always been my favorite. You shorter skirts suit you to a tee. Thank you once again for keeping up the good work!!!
Recently, I have reconnected with friends from 30 years ago. We cannot tell each other's age anymore from our appearance. Some look like how I remember them from long ago while others have significantly looked older. Most have changed their disposition for the better. A few have become more interesting.
So happy to have found your channel. We are the same age and I am happy to be 62. I am still working and have enough free time, now that the children have moved on, to go on daily walks and to learn a new language. I also enjoy the company of my 4 grandsons regularly. Thanks for your comforting words and for confirming what I already knew.
It’s great to see that you are still wearing shorter length skirts and not feeling you have to cover your surgery scar. I’ve had a big hunk taken out of my leg due to cancer. For a while I felt I should cover my legs by wearing longer skirts and dresses or even long trousers for summer. Just was too hot. So if folk have a problem seeing a scar, well it’s their problem not mine! I enjoy your blogs thank you Beth.
My mother-in-law is 90 and loves to buy new clothes and has long gray hair. Cute and spunky. Loves to read. Got her teeth fixed last year. What an inspiration. Thanks for your channel.
As a 66 year old woman, who still works, has four married daughters, seven grand-children, I do want to be modern vibrant and active! This is a brilliant video Beth - you inspire me and countless others! Rock on lovely lady.
I'm with you on embracing how I look with just being me at 66 y/o. I love wearing makeup and my hair being silver. I keep current with my hair and how I look overall. And I get a lot of compliments!
I just found this video and agree completely! I'm 48 and I'll wear what I want. In the same week, I can dress like a politician, a fashionista, a hippie, a preppy student, a couch potato, a nerd, and a bon vivant. Cheers!
Let’s also be supportive of women who like to dress up. I have always loved fashion and I dress for me. The trend towards overall casualness is not my style. I understand you need to take into consideration the clothes to the occasion, but if I want to wear a dress to the office that is my choice. I have been made to feel and have been asked “ where are you going all dressed up” ? I love Ralph Lauren dresses and pencil skirts coupled with silk blouses. I take care of my skin, hair and makeup. I embrace theses things and am not doing it to impress anyone.
Dress to please yourself! When I'm asked that question by the younger people in their athleasure outfits, I like to say "job interview!". Keeps them guessing. ;)
The cleaning lady at work yesterday said to me, "I always look to see what you're wearing, I love your style!" So you know what? Sometimes enjoying what you wear makes other people see the possibilities for them! No one asks why I'm dressed up anymore 🙃
I think being joyous is better than trying to look younger all the time. Joy is beautiful! I’m also 62 but I don’t want to be identified by my age. I don’t want to worry about every wrinkle or stretch mark. I had five kids, all adults. I want to be proud of who I am, wear what makes me feel good, and enjoy life 😊
Beth I do enjoy your videos very much. At 52, amd pretty young and fit appearing I don’t listen to all the rules. By the way the colors you are wearing look absolutely amazing on you! Your eyes are just sparkling!
I wish I could give you two thumbs up for this video. While my own personal style is different from yours, I subscribe precisely because of this healthy attitude that you espouse. Thank you for this breath of fresh air.
I think less is more now at 70.......quality pieces I love, even if I have to make them myself. I can be the me I have always wanted, the artist I never had time for, and the bohemian tree hugger:)
Love this! There was a meme going round: 20 things women over forty shouldn’t wear. When you clicked on it, it said: 1 - 20: the weight of other people’s expectations and prejudices! I loved that! I’ve kept my long hair, and I wear skirts of various lengths. Red lipstick too!
Thanks for your positive and encouraging attitude to look and feel our best. I wish more ladies had a chance to see you regularly. Why do we judge ourselves so harshly and compare ourselves to others? Let's celebrate being ourselves and enjoy these amazing years so many never have a chance to experience. Blessings to you Beth! Keep up the good work!
Hello Beth, great video, I am 54 & I agree with everything you say. I too, have had very short hair since forever! I love your hair cut & colour, & the colour of your eyes is beautiful by the way. In the media there is too much negativity towards older women, what we "should" not do or not wear once we hit 50, I think that being the best version of ourselves is a great philosophy. I have a t-shirt that says "I may be old, but at least I got to see all the great bands" which is actually true!
Great video! Kindness is an important aspect of being elegant. Kindness to ourselves and others is also to understand and support those who are different and do not follow the same “rules”.
I loved this video and thank you so much! I love aging, I am 51, and I wear my skirts, and shorts above the knee. I feel as you do, if you feel comfortable in what you wear then wear it!
Great advice all the way through!! We never seem to give ourselves enough credit, instead of finding our confidence and being our best on our own. You are very helpful being an encouraging friend from afar. Have a great week ahead!💕
My active mother is in her 80's and delighted summer will soon arrive so she can wear stylish shorts again! Also, I loved your comment regarding positive attitudes! Thank you!
People have always said "you look younger". Why do I need to look younger.. I enjoy my life experiences and the wisdom gained over the years. Thank you for your message. Well said.
I lived in Paris, France for ten years and not once did any French person say I "looked good for my age". In France, your age does not matter at all. French women embrace aging so much that I don't they even think aging at all!! When I got back stateside is when I was told "you look good for your age". I finally got disgusted with the ageism is our society that the last time a woman at work who loves to tell me remind me about my age and she is 20 years younger than me and overweight. I am fit and I dress very well. I responded, "I look good for any age including your age". She stopped giving her "back handed compliments" after that!
When I go through my clothes, (about every 3 years) I always keep the classic pieces so now I only replace (the overly loved and worn pieces) what I need this is a money saver. Styles come and go, it's your personal touches, color matching, and accessorizing that complements everyone's personality. Love your tips, and guidance Beth.
Thank you for your inspiring comments on aging.. and I love that you said we dont need to look younger to look good. getting older is a privilege denied many and we should embrace the years .
I was told the other day by another women that she thought I was 53 and I'm actually 63 :) but I think its because I don't follow rules and I feel youthful !!! I don't dress like a young women but I do still keep it fresh and know the classics. I enjoy watching trends but don't feel I need to follow ...At my age I know my body and what works and what doesn't work and I'm mindful of that :) There is one color that is beautiful on ladies of all ages and that's a beautiful soft pink/peach nice in a blouse or jacket !!! Iv also paired down my jewelry to a bit more delicate instead of the huge statement jewelry around my neck...Pearls are a girls best friend but not like grandma wore !!! I save my large pieces for my rings and bracelets ....Beth has wonderful tips !!! Be you :) Thank you Beth regarding at a certain age we don't have to cut our hair short :)
I am so glad Beth that you addressed #3 and #4 and #5. #5 ... I love to wear skirts above the and add a pretty, feminine and Victorian vibe lace skirt extender. Thank you Beth, for the supportive and positive attitude towards each other. ❤ from North Carolina.
Thank you!! Spot on about the typical age related beauty topics that are always talked about for us over 40, 50, 60! What we should do, should not do and why frumpy is a word attached to older women! I love it when women such as yourself promote aging as positive and beautiful!! I have learned to dress the way I feel comfortable abs wear my hair and makeup according to what works best for me. I am 63! The only issues I struggle with are wearing styles that are geared more for much younger body types. The reason is because I am petite at 5’2 and I weigh 120. So to find clothes that fit I have to shop in the junior department which styles are for teens! Anyway, admire your attitude and classy attire!
I’m 63 and have nicely shaped legs. I love wearing short skirts. And as you suggested in another video, I wear them with a discreet top. Thanks for affirming that it’s ok to rock this style!
Boy! You just hit on the reason why I unsubscribe to so many channels-I dislike being sold on what to do to look younger. How about what to do to look fabulous! Great video! Bravo 👏
Well said Beth! I hate to be put myself in a box. It doesn’t matter how old are we, what is important is that you look healthy and take care yourself physically and emotionally. And if you look amazing at any age after 50 y.o rock it ! Let the envy people suffer is not our responsibility to make their life happy. I am a proud 55 y.o. But since I am petit and I have a healthy weight and and happy aptitude, Nobody can guess my age!!!!💪🏼🥰. We should aim for a good classy taste like yours.
I totally agree with you, but what’s more important,,, wear what suits you. This goes for young and old. We all have different body shapes. Knowing what suits you is KEY imo! x
You best vlog yet! Every word was worth gold. Thanks Beth. And I often see your instagram photos on the "younger" fashion vloggers videos. Be fresh, be new and be bold.
Absolutely - couldn't agree more. I'm catching up with your older videos so sorry to be late to the party. The well known UK TV cook Nigella Lawson said how lucky she felt when she turned 50 because she had lost her sister to cancer in her 30s. You are absolutely right that growing older is a privilege and something to celebrate and be positive about. We are lucky to have made it this far. I'm 4 years on from a cancer diagnosis myself and luckily I seem to have got over it but boy am I happy to be here and will be celebrating reaching 63 next birthday.
I’ve been given many complements over the years about how I dress & look. I try to wear stylish modern clothes appropriate for a “Mature Woman” of a certain age & don’t follow trends. I dress up everyday, do my make-up & hair even if I don’t have plans to go anywhere. It just makes me feel good about myself to do so. You’re a great role model & I love yr positive attitude about aging gracefully, staying strong & beautiful.
This is all about being comfortable in your own skin at any age. I have ignored these rules. I just turned 66. I like feeling put together when I go out, but I wear what I am comfortable in and don't worry much about what other people think.
Beth, again you are bang on!!! Age is all about feeling good about your self not what others think about you. You always look glam and confident your self Beth. This is why I love your style and tips on aging with swag!!
You DO look fabulous! Speaking of short hair, I just recently got a pixie cut, myself. I’ve never had my hair cut this short! It wasn’t because I was about to turn 50, I just wanted to change. Now that it’s grown out just a little, I absolutely love it! It feels really classy, and is so much easier than my longer naturally curly hair. An Hayward’s hair has always intrigued me, but I don’t think I could pull that off. She’s another gorgeous supermodel with super short hair. You totally rock it, too!
Great information. Turning 50 in another year.....can’t believe it. Taking care of myself is number 1. Thanks. I love my long curls. I’ve never colored my hair and never well.
I agree with you 100%. Im 62, i live in a hot climate, i wear mini skirts, short dresses and shorts and i dont mind what other people might say, i feel comfortable and i feel good and i like what i see in the mirror and for me its all that mattets.
Beth, thanks for this very positive message to women over 50. I'm now 66 and I break all the rules, too! You're only as old as your mind tells you that you are. My Mom had impeccable style and SHE didn't dress by the rules either! In her 70's and early 80's she was complimented on her hair, makeup, and style almost every time I took her out. People were always amazed that she still wore full makeup "at her age" but, she looked beautiful and could rock it! I'm pleased to say that I'm following in her stylish foot steps.
Totally awesome video! I'm turning 60 this summer and can hardly wait! You're right about it being a privilege...my dad died at 48.5 and my mom was 66 when she passed (both from cancer from being smokers, sadly)...Love the pixie! I've had long heair here and there through my life, but short hair is where I really feel myself since my mom got me my first pixie at age 6.
I LOVE this Beth, so many other fashion bloggers are trying so hard to look younger than they are, and one I know of in particular freaks out every time she can’t get her hair colored every so many weeks, during COVID lock down I thought she was going to have a breakdown because she couldn’t get her hair colored. It’s ridiculous the way some of them are and she was getting some pretty nasty comments at the time because people were going through a lot with the Covid and all she could worry about was getting her hair colored.
