You just keep shaving time off the record! A couple months from now you'll beat it in less than 1 minute. You kick the pilot out of the seat and swerve out of the way of your future-self in the plane. I agree there should be multiple speedrun categories for glitches/glitchless, random/fixed seed, raft/no raft etc... but being real, ANY random seed record = How fast can you find the Eel?

Ok, so I did that, same seed on the HARD setting, glitchless, but OMG it was so painful to do. Sailing a raft is like watching paint dry!!! The speed glitch has ruined me! My time was something like 2 hours and 12 minutes, but it was my 1st try and I'm sure I could get that down to under 2 hours.... but it does take a lot longer to get around than I thought.
Honestly. I don't even agree with calling Exploits and glitches cheats. Its in the game. I agree with having a glitchless category. But i generally consider cheats things like, console commands, hex editors and other outside influences. Keep up the good work
Great run! I feel you can do much faster. Seems like you pick up a lot of items you don’t need which kills time shuffling crate inventory. You don’t need flashlight, lamp, scrap metal, you only need one wood plank to make the fuel still. Only need one clothe for the water catcher. Try grabbing everything you need to win on first island then immediately travel to all the islands collecting 8 potatoes. Once you get to 8 start building everything needed to beat game, fastest way to increase craftsmanship is crude spears, then use them to kill bosses
Lol, I'll add the new speedrun cats today to the site. Generally you have to complete a run and request it as a category before it goes up to so we dont just have a ton of empty categories but i doubt anyone (meaning god mods) will care enough to say anything or even notice, speedrun.com has outgrown its starter rules by now id say
Doing it with a single piece raft and outrunning the sharks (mostly) is great fun - boars and hogs running off into the sea is my biggest problem as makes farming leather really hard on ps4 pro
Cheating is not the same as using glitches or exploits. Speedruns in every game have come very far. If at this point in time people still don’t know the difference. Then their comments should just be ignored until they educate themselves to learn more about speedruns and the terminology Edit: spelling errors
Just because it’s a thing doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. For the longest time in America not allowing women to vote was a “thing” and we’ve since learned better. Although this isn’t nearly as serious as women voting my personal opinion is it’s not a legit speed run. Yes I’m aware glitches have been part of speed runs even in nes days, that doesn’t mean I like that either. For me speed runs should be the challenge of mastering the game through hours played and skill. Not figuring out how to cheat better then the next guy. Agoork is CLEARLY. A skilled player who’s spent many hours in this game and I’m in no way saying the man is just a “dirty cheater”. I’m just trying to let you know just because someone doesn’t like “glitch speed runs” doesn’t mean they need to “educate themselves” on them. 👍🏻
Play it with a raft to compare the times. I think you would be surprised how fast you still finish having to do the raft as long as you don’t get to bogged down with trying to make a raft that carries a ton of crates.
I challenged myself.....I cut down all trees on all islands to make one huge shelter it took a long time and that was 7 months ago haven't played it since 🤣

It is the version of the game where they experiment with new features. In the steam app library, right click on the game's name and select properties. Click on "Betas", and then select "Experimental - Highly experimental branch" under where it asks which beta you would like to opt into. Once you do that it will download the experimental files and set your game mode to that version. This does not transfer your current game saves, but does not erase those either. You can always opt out later, and your original stable version saves etc will still be there when you switch back.
I don't even follow a lot of speed runs, but saying you are cheating on a glitch-allowed category is strange. If you didn't use the glitches everyone else would and you'd never stand a chance competitively.
I have no problem with the exploit just annoys me you keep it to yourself “cause you don’t want the game to be played this way by everyone”. That just feels like you Keep the exploit to yourself cause you know other will easily break it if you gave up the secret...
I have shared the exploit with other speed runners. If you want to know how to do it, open an account on speedrun.com and pm me there. I' m not hiding it from anyone who wants to try to beat me - I just don't want everyone using it in normal gameplay.
Now they've added extra slots in each crate. More junk to sort through, but more storage space now. Still getting used to it, but got my time down to 51 minutes and 16 seconds. Not going to post that one, as I will wait until I get more used to the new crate system and maybe hopefully can get under 50 minutes.
Idk man sub 1 hour isn't that impressive when you use a speed hack, play how you want I guess but this isn't how I'd want to see speed runs in this game. What's next? Teleporting onto each island because swimming is boring? 😂 Should see how far you can get a speedrun without having to cheat, otherwise its pretty meaningless to say you get a record. You have great game knowledge and run really well, why destroy that with cheats? Cmon man I expect better from you. Hope you go back to running it properly.
