First ever sub 32 minute speed run for Stranded Deep. I never thought this would be even remotely possible, but I employ a new strategy and get it done.
They're going to have to change the name from "Stranded" Deep to "Half Hour Inconvenience" Deep. I'd love to see a glitchless run on the same seed, just to compare the times :)
Just completed a glitchless run on this seed. OMG, it was painfully slow sailing from island to island. 1st try, not optimized for the slower speed and what you can get done each day, but I got it done. Will post it within a couple of days.
Yeah, I can't get that to work. There are a couple of things I noticed while watching it back that I could have done better, but its hard to catch those little things in the heat of the moment.
Cheers mate, great work. Could you make a short video where you show how to set the custom seed and how you set the speedrun settings? Im in Love with that game and it would be cool trying out some speedsessions :-)
I've done comments on all of my speed runs, so I thought I was just repeating the same old stuff over and over again. I am thinking of doing a video just about the strategy / progression of speed running Stranded Deep over the past few months and would explain all the inner thinking there. Good idea, or no?
wanted to make one correction in my statement. Your last action is where alot would measure the time from, however, in Stranded Deep the timed cutscene is static anyway, so it's irrelevant....all it does is add a static timestamp from your last action. My fault, j/s
I love this game, unfortunately I have a version that doesn't support crates. My point though is this....the speedrun is never measured by cutscenes. Your time is is dictated by your last input....so that 32 minutes is probably sub 30, you and SpeedyDeep both. You're not gonna see a world record Super Mario Bros. time from NES from after the cut scene....as soon as you make the last human input...that's where the time is.
It's in the pipeline to change the rules but we are trying to get this benchmark of timing down to sub 30 before we change it. I dont want people thinking we just got rid of the cutscene time to get the sub 30. Im the mod on speedrun.com now but I didn't set up the rules initially so we've always just stuck with that way.
