4:06 That is actually a very realistic way to send a message to the wrong person. Roman tried to swipe up and dismiss his dad's message, but he accidentally tapped it instead. On an iPhone, tapping a message while composing a new one will automatically change the recipient to the sender of the tapped message. That definitely happened to one of the writers irl before this episode
But why would Roman be composing a new message if he tapped into Gerri’s original message? He should’ve been replying directly in her chat without the need for composing a new one. Such a rookie mistake for a guy who supposedly sends plenty of 🍆 pics to a lady that is “a million years old”.
@@jayshah4203 nop, Roman is the youngest of the three bothers but Shiv is the youngest child of all the 4 siblings that’s why I said little sister. Or why did you think Logan always called her Pinky. I think that because the age difference between Roman and Shiv is not far is that they have like a different relationship compare to the rest of the siblings
I dont think he was expecting his dad to say that. I didnt even know that was a feature on my phone to tap the text and add it as a recipient. Succession never ceases to disappoint.
That's exactly how the fuck up happened - because his dad's text came in as he was texting Jeri - he tried to push his dad's text aside and when he touched it, it switched the focus of the application over to his father's text which is why he accidentally sent the picture to him.
Shiv "The top team....you know, you'll obviously be fighting for your lives.." The writers somehow always manage to foreshadow without making it obvious.
@@William-Gregory Yea, their hubris was their downfall. That probably woke Frank, Karl, and Gerri up. That look on Gerri's face says it all "Supporting Roman could possibly affect me if he does his job too well. "
I agree! Roman and Shiv did not see that they too were top tier as to whether they would be kept in a merger or if Matsson acquired Waystar. I think that Logan, Tom and the old guard saw it right away.
But as I thought that I heard that there really is no such thing in business as a merger of equals. Someone was going to be the top dog. Roman and Shiv thought that Matsson would be content with the name and they would control everything else, but Matsson had the goods, so he was not looking to be acquired and Waystar did not have the position. After looking at this yet again, look at the seating: to Logan's immediate right --- Tom; to his immediate left--- Shiv and Gerri; a few seats down from Tom --- Roman; via video ---- Frank and Karl. The end game of those in the room: Tom, Shiv (wife) and Gerri survive the acquisition in some form. Frank, Karl, Roman are out. Kerry, probably dismissed. Logan, deceased.
All of these kids have a moment where they have leverage or power or influence and then make one TERRIBLE mistake that shuts it all down. This is Roman’s, Kendall’s was the car crash, and Shiv’s was saying she’s the one in the Pierce negotiation. It’s really sad because they’re all capable of doing the job, but they just get in their own way.
@@caseyperry496They probably meant to say they are each *potentially* capable of taking over, because that is true. Rhea aptly drew those conclusions in s2.
I feel like Kendall could, but only if it was amicable. Like he doesn't kill Logan, Logan just steps down. So basically if in episode 1 of the show Logan didn't fuck over Kendall. Although then I think the argument could be made, as Logan has said before, that Kendall isn't enough of a killer. Maybe season 3 Kendall? But season 3 Kendall obviously spiraled pretty quickly so probably not. Well shit I guess you're right. @@caseyperry496
I love that one of his recent photos is a pic of a cat sitting like a person, like he just happened upon a stray sitting like a human and took a picture cause he thought it was cute lol 4:06
I always love it when these odd little subplots in shows come crashing headfirst into the main storyline. Never would have thought this is how Logan, Shiv, etc. learned about Roman and Gerri (or that they would learn about it at all), but fuck me, it was beyond perfect.
Love how this is how Roman goes down. Each kid goes down based on something they inherited in their personalities. Shiv is angry, bitter and arrogant, kendal is selfish, lacks confidence and is seeking approval...and also arrogant, Roman is irresponsible, selfish and inapprioriate. I'm pretty happy to see that his little 'joke' is what killed him in the end after what he did to that poor kid in the first episode with the baseball game. And Tom will win the thrown because he was willing to take that million away from that boy because he's just that low.
If anyone wins it's Kendall or rom. Rom because of the Shakespearean meaning of the name and ken because of the narrative. I'm afraid Tom doesn't have much of a chance
@@kieranfarrell1656 I think so too. Uncle Greg would be fucking funny to win but I doubt and I hope Shiv does not win she is my least favorite characters of the 3
This was the moment Logan realized all his kids are fucked up in some way. Sad is he doesn’t admit he’s played a part in that. 2:10 is so good btw. But this scene was so good. Kieran’s face made me laugh so hard. Such a Roman reaction.
She does that a lot. She often operates by thinking the most convenient outcome for her will come true because she just wants it bad enough. Happened both with being CEO in season two and with being mattsons puppet to appease Menken
Sometimes I feel this show ended too soon, but the writing is so densely packed with great lines and figures-of-speech, there's more than enough to savor on on every rewatch. "I can win any bout with a boxer but I don't know how to knock out a clown."
I think Tom is so smart and handsome in this scene and I think he would be a good boss I would love to work for smart and handsome Tom even just reading his emails or stapling papers or something I just think he is strong. And he looks like the boss in this scene.
what I've noticed in every meeting that shiv's been in is that, shiv never adds anything different or unique to the conversation, she's always repeating the most obvious statements that could be said, and she says it with such so much confidence that you almost won't notice it, which makes it easy for her to keep her presence in a meeting without suffering risk. But once you notice it, you can immediately see how incompetent she is. I think the best example of this was the meeting at the panic room when the deal with Rhea began, I couldn't help but cringe at the pathetic and uninteresting arguments she was throwing out, same applies for the president picking part. Roman and Kendall atleast does bring some genuinely new ideas to the conversation at times, regardless whether htey're bad or good.
I remember her conversation with Rhea in the panic room being a huge part of them getting the meeting with pierce. The huge pile of money Logan was offering being the other part.
the more funny knowing logan's "you are not serious people" burn in season 4 said with the context of asking the question in season 3 re: "is mattson a serious person"
