No spoilers for anything outside this ep, but…the wedding scene hits harder when you realize that this world fell apart in 2003 and the first state didn’t legalize gay marriage until 2004, so these two guys never spent a day in their lives where gay marriage seemed like a real possibility to them. And then it was just them deciding “bump it, we’ll do it our damn selves.” One of the best, most beautiful episodes of tv I’ve ever seen. A true masterpiece.
@OmniRecapsYT

You're absolutely right it was such a beautiful episode but I can't help feeling like we missed out on one of the most jaw dropping adrenaline filled moments of the game which sucks and doesn't bode well for the future epic moments
@jasonmarbach
@jasonmarbach Год назад
@@OmniRecapsYT nah man, that ain’t it. We know bloaters and a whole horde are coming from the trailer, the pulse pounding stuff is still gonna be here. They’re rearranging and adding more stuff to make the story even better than the game was, which is the kind of thing one does with an adaptation of their own story after having 10 years to think about it (and bringing in an ACTUAL storytelling genius in Craig Mazin). Lots of folks have said it, but that’s because it’s 100% true: if you want a direct one-for-one re-telling of the game, just go play the game. The rest of us want to see a new take on the iconic story.
@Kevster921
@Kevster921 Год назад
@@jasonmarbach It should also be said that this episode is apparently the largest diversion from the story of the game. Neil was fine with changing things, but he was very hesitant to change a character's fate. But when he read the story, he was convinced. *!Slight spoiler warning, since it was brought up in the video!* If people want a perfect re-telling, they recently released a new "Last of Us: Part 1" with updated graphics that literally turns it into a movie with the level of graphical fidelity. That "version" doesn't need to get made again. We'll get bloaters and hordes later, it just wasn't necessary to introduce that level of threat to the story yet. And since they know where the story is going and are using a different medium, they can adjust and change things to better prepare us for the themes of the entire series. Look at the changes they've made to Ellie for example. Don't get me wrong, Bella Ramsey is killing it. But show-Ellie has a serious edge to her that game-Ellie didn't have this early on in the story. Her look when Joel kills the guard (and Mazin's description "She's not like Sarah. She doesn't cry. She's activated") combined with her knife-wielding actions in the basement this episode clearly shows that Ellie already has a sadistic streak. And since they're planting the seeds early, Ellie's story in Last of Us Part 2 will probably gel better with the audience. They're essentially learning from their previous mistakes. And since Neil is such an integral part of the process, I'm not concerned with them just changing things left and right because they feel like it. If they change something, it's to improve the story and to fit a thematic purpose.

I know so many people are still moronically h0m0ph0bic nowadays and can’t understand why they’d introduced two gay characters into a backstory that has ‘nothing to do with the game” but those same people also fail to understand how even if there was an apocalypse GAY PEOPLE WOULD STILL BE PART OF IT REGARDLESS and not to mention just as much as people complain about homosexual scenes I can do just as much and MORE complaining about boring heterosexual scenes so idk why this episode got so much hate. However, THANK YOU GUYS for being so open as USUAL and to share some more light and personal opinion, I really loved how this episode focused on an emotional love story between two OLDER GAY men which we don not see much depiction of as much as younger generations of LGBTQ+ rep when it comes to television. So, this was a TYPE of divine love story we do not get to see much as. I loved this episode and I’m gonna keep defending it by every thread on my sweater. Thanks for reacting to it and not being so biased or hateful because truly it’s astonishing how people think we’re supposed to care if they "dropped this show' after ONE episode displaying affection and compassion between two people in an apocalypse for crying out loud. It was a MOVING story of showing how not everything in an apocalypse show has to be so intense ALL THE TIME because there are some people who WILL and HAVE lived their last days only loving each other away from everyone else bc no one else matters at that moment. 🏳‍🌈✨

I dont know if you want to know the difference between the show in the game, but if you dont mind knowing (only what was already shown in the series obviously) that is exactly one of the things Bill says to Ellie in the game "You dont touch anything" 😂 That is the one bad part of this change they made to the story. With Bill dying we dont get Bill and Ellie arguing the whole time like little kids like in the game. It's not like a game where you spend time with the characters outside of cutscenes so there aren't any emotional ties to Tess, a character that our main character has emotional ties to. Joel finding someone to care about after his daughter died should've been a bigger deal.
