I've been doing this throw since HS in the early 80's. My HS coach showed it as a counter to someone countering the arm drag (sucker drag). I started doing it more from my feet with a trip while sometimes hitting it as a deep back arch throw in FS. I'm still hitting it on the HS state champion wrestlers I coach even though they know it's coming. I call it the "Da! Da!" (Yes! Yes!) Among the various nicknames my kids have for me, Coach Da Da is my favorite!

Great breakdown of that technique, my high school coach was a great technician who always taught us how to throw and I discovered it on my own. In my experience, the best way to get to that position was like in the Kindig/Colon example where you're opponent has you in a front face lock since I didnt look for dumps. Since I have really long arms I could have the grip on the far elbow and the lat and the act of even threatening the throw made it easier to get back to my feet or even short drag from there. Once again great video and I'm glad to hear the audio is sounding better 🤝🏽.

This is a fun throw. I like to use this in jiu jitsu rolls to get to side control/North south. Sometimes I hit this from a low position very much like a sweep. Not sure if it is great for that, but it's fun to hit.

Keith Gavin wrestled out of his position from the Russian tie when opponent would try to create front headlock situation with the free hand. If you are in the Russian you essentially have to climb up to this exact position. Coincidentally Keith was also a resedent athlete in Columbus while JDJ was there :)

quick question would you throw this as if its a regular lateral drop where your head looks towards the way you want to throw your opponent ?
