I fell in love with Rodriguez’s music after watching the great ‘Searching For Sugar Man’ documentary, which I HIGHLY recommend to all who love music and art in general. To you, ladies, I say that you have, without question or doubt, done that great and painfully underrated artist justice with your cover. Amazing.

Speaking of criminally underrated, none more than the MonaLisa Twins. The depth with which the Twins can cover ANY style is awe inspiring. Among all the albums in my uncle's collection that I would peruse there was a Sixto Rodriquez album. It wasn't until I saw the documentary, that I understood who he was. Great documentary. Glad to have seen this in the MLT Club.
This is so beautiful and graceful, with Mona's soothing classical Spanish guitar sounds and Lisa's amazing vocals on this, absolutely one of my favourite covers of yours. You can do any genre and can make it sound so wonderful which is so rare and special. I love the Latin feel of this song you bring across, so beautifully and expressively. A dark, haunting and somewhat obscure classic tune lovingly nuanced by Mona and Lisa. His story still amazes me and I re-watched the documentary again tonight. It still seems like fiction, but sadly it was not. You pour your heart into everything you do, and I think Rodriguez would feel the same way. Bravo!
The limits of these two incredibly talented women continue to stretch beyond imagination. A beautiful and unique arrangement, deceptively simple yet so complete and elegant.
Wow- a really surprising and interesting choice! A very successful venture into some different territory. The voices and playing rise to the material, of course. Everything about Rodriguez surprises- in a good way- so the MonaLisa Twins are the latest plot twist. A few years ago I went to see Brian Wilson for maybe the billionth time, and found myself listening to this fascinating older performer I'd never heard of, just a few feet in front of me, a mesmerizing opener. He was a thoroughly engaging person and performer, and the music just had me at first sound. My friends were amazed I hadn't known about him, and filled me in. The documentary is an absolute must. His story is as extraordinary as his work. Thanks, ladies!
Why you two aren't the world superstars is beyond me. I've found you by clicking on "Tell Me Why" Live at Cavern Club - being an old git, lifelong worshiper of The Beatles, ready to trash - and instantly became a fan. Listened a lot of things you did, both covers and originals, and you're simply... superb. Brilliant!
Love Mona's acoustic guitar playing, her always amazing vocal harmonies and her percussion footwork.... And Lisa's lead vocal was great... but that bass playing was WOWZA! You sounded like Paul McCartney on bass (or even Rudy...). Tremendous performance. Loved everything about it.
So glad you put this on RU-vid. One of my favorites since I found it in the MLT Club and now I can add it to my MLT RU-vid playlist. I called it MLT Top 40 but now it has 87 songs. Beautiful song and a little different than what we usually get from MLT. It shouldn't surprise us though because as you've shown with the Orange and WHY? albums that you love exploring different styles and genres of music. I Love the Duo Sessions format. Lisa is such a talented performer and I don't think Mona gets enough praise for her guitar skills. She is wonderful. The hat is also very groovy!!

This is an incredible performance in a string of incredible performances. When I joined the MLT Club I didn't realize there would be gems like this only available to club members. It makes me feel good that I am supporting these amazing artists.
These two always have the most tasteful arrangements. From the choice of instruments and vocal harmonies to their clothes and set, every choice is carefully made to honor the song, not to show off the performers.

What a wonderful celebration ... of so many beautiful things! They could make this their own! Their cadence, timing, guitar play, and of course their vocals are consistent with the original. As his family said - not materially rich, but rich in character and spirit. The world needs more people like that.
