Suguru Egawa went from a high school phenom... to one of the best Univeristy baseball players in Japanese history... to a figure so hated that he was intentionally snubbed whenever possible. How?
Well, it was all his own fault.

Great video man, amazing history. The ego on Egawa is impressive.

Egawa's was so insane, that a high school batter called Kunihiro Ishibuchi who by sheer luck hit a homer off Egawa in a practice game got drafted into NPB. He was literally that good, getting a average high school ball player into pro ball by just hitting a homer in a practice game.

Great video. I can only imagine what it took to find the crest of every high school that Egawa faced. Wow. However you pronounced Tony Solaita's name wrong. [SoLEEta]. I know this because I am old enough to have seen him play for the Angles.

Yeah I notice that now. I think I got tripped up by the foreign player doc I watched when I first found out about him. His name in Japanese was "ソレイタ" or "Soreita". So I think that tripped me up.

Imagine if the Giants had called the Tigers' bluff and agreed to the Oh trade!

so it's both Egawa being shady as hell and the usual "Everybody hates Yomiuri" (Trademark pending) sitcom in the NPB.
